Man, the Ruger SR1911 is a fine looking weapon! I sue wish my EMP was working right. The slide got banged up in the mail and it's not fully returning to battery.

I have a P22 as a suppressor host. Fun gun, for sure. Was your hydro dipped?

And ugh, the pic of the EMP pisses me off! I sent my EMP slide out via USPS for a refinish. They dropped it, broke the box and tweaked the slide. The refinisher fixed it as best as he could and it fits on the frame, but it has serious issues with failing to return to battery thus failing to fire.

I'm going to play dumb and see if Springfield will warranty it.

I shot my dad's EMP today in 40, great little gun. Now I want one. Also had the 12 year old daughter try out the AR!

*SCREAMS* Stop talking about EMPs. Nah, just really miss mine. It was an awesome carry piece. Although mine was 9mm. I'm not a fan of .40 for self defense. The ballistics are only marginally, if any better than 9mm.

Freaking USPS, I could wring their damn necks. I guess the blame partly lays with me for not getting insurance. Although that was ~ the 20th slide I sent out successfully for refinishing.

I'm pretty sure SA will warranty it if I play dumb, though. They are known for an awesome warranty.

Although I now have accounts with both Cerakote and Gunkote and am a certified dealer and refinisher. I just need the equipment. It's expensive. I need to get a new lathe first. And a better mill to replace my 50 year old POS that's on it's last leg.

Cute kid, WIvapor. No pedo. What kind of AR is that? What other firearms do you have? If you haven't noticed, we have quite the weapon enthusiasts here. :)

What holster is that and how do you like it? Well, it's not showing up, but it's the one for the 1911. It's tan with black clips.

Also, nice XDm 4.5" Service. What caliber? I have a XDm Service .45 that I really, really like. I also have an XDm copact 9mm, XD sub-compact 9mm and XDS .45.
The Service has Ameriglo suppressor (tall) night sights, PRP Ultimate match (UM) trigger job (4.5lbs), 11* barrel recrown, grip stippling and an undercut trigger guard. It's a great gun and the trigger is super nice. I also have the UM kit in my XDm compact 9mm with 11* barrel recrown

Check them out:PRP~ Perfecting your XD and XDM!!!. I have their drop in kit in my XD sub-compact 9mm. It's 90% as good as the match kit, which comes with a new sear that needs to be fitted and the trigger over travel stop also needs to be fitted in the UM kit, but not the drop in. Really, the only thing the PRP sear does is lighten the pull just a bit more. The 2 part that really make the biggest difference are the Striker Safety Lever (improves the geomery so the striker safety disengages sooner than the factory lever [they have a video showing their lever vs. the stock lever on their sigh.) and the PRP trigger w/ over travel stop.

I see now that they have a sear jig to make fitting the PRP sear easier. Sear Jig

If you choose to get work done by them, have them install night sights if you plan on getting them. If you don't want work by them but do want nigh sights use James Nicholas at www.xs-hs2000.com. I'm a gunsmith and I won't even install sights on XD/XDm/XDS. Springfield's dovetails are notoriously tight. James does top notch work, has the cheapest prices on nigh sights and will install them for free if you buy them from him. And he has a 24 hour turn-around.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. I'm a gunsmith (currently, I switch between that and glassblowing) specializing in Glock, FN, Sig Sauer (somewhat) and XD. I'll do my best to answer. If I'm unsure I'll refer you to someone else whose opinion I respect.

Oh! I read this the day it was published, but just now got around to posting it.

Huffington Post:
"Assault Weapons Ban Likely To Die So That Broader Gun Policy Legislation Can Live"

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/04/assault-weapons-ban_n_2617091.html

Feinstein's gun proposal :
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/04/assault-weapons-ban_n_2617091.html

Feinstein's Bill text:
Page 4, Line 22 is where the firearms by name start:
http://www.feinstein.senate.gov/pub...?File_id=9a9270d5-ce4d-49fb-9b2f-69e69f517fb4

Feinstein is f'ing senile! An old woman that has no clue about firearms at all; that cosmetic features that she seeks to ban have absolutely no difference in how deadly a firearm is.

I love Texas. Our governor has pretty much said that whatever happens, we will keep doing it the way we have done it forever.

The AR is a DPMS Oracle. I got a great deal on it even during all this ban talk. The problem is finding components for reloading so I can actually shoot it.
Other weapons I own are...
Browning Buckmark
Brolin Arms 1911
Springfield XDS
Ruger Blackhawk Convertable 9/357
Browning Ultra XS O/U 12ga
Browning Gran Lightning O/U 20ga
Rem 870
Savage 111 .243
Marlin 60 22lr
Beeman M9 20cal air rifle
20ga pump my first shotgun
and a long list I've sold during tough times

The Holster is a MTAC, its pretty nice. If had about every hybrid kydex style holster know to man & it is by far the most comfortable. So much so its the only holster I've hung onto that has any kydex on it at all. I've gone to strictly custom leather or pocket holsters.

As far as the XDM its a 9mm. I got it a few months after they released the xdm line. It's ok, I've added a green laser/light combo to it since. Do use or carry it much. It kinda sits in the safe, only reason I still have it because I think it's just a pretty piece of metal. I've pretty much gotten into strictly 1911's at this point. I have plenty of tacticool items to last a couple of bloodlines lol.

Yeah, I'm becoming partial to 1911s, myself. I'm currently building my self a nice bobtail'd carry 9mm 1911.

Beware of the 1911.... If you don't have a good amount of self control they can become more addictive than .... lol. To me they are a piece of American History & very classic. I have a spot in my collection for the utilitarian plastic fantastic Tupperware that ha become so popular in today's culture & don't get me wrong they are fine extremly reliable weapons, however there is no comparison when you have a fine tuned smooth running 1911. At last count I was around the 50 mark on my collection of 1911's. I've slowed down alot ESP now with the frenzy buying. There just aren't any deals to be had anymore.

I've been focusing on knives lately, not as fun but close. I've gotten a decent collection of autos & fixed blades also.

Pistol class was very enlightening and fun.The first thing I done when I got home was change Sweets back strap. She was a little too wide.Seams to have helped. Will know sor sure when I get to shoot her again.

That's awesome, Drott! Practice often, as shooting is a perishable skill.

Don't tell me about it. Luckily I build custom 1911s, so I'm mostly immune to the disease. Although I am on the lookout for a Dan Wesson Valor V-Bob and a Bill Wilson Carry. Ah, hell; I'll take a Colt 70 series, too.

Speaking of 1911's, I see that Ruger has come out with a commander size of their SR1911.

Nice. The SR1911 is a great gun, especially at it's price point.
