I've only shot skeet once, and it was with a Saiga-12 with a 10 round mag, lol. It's a lot harder than it looks, and I was even using a mag-fed semi-auto!

I ended up with a lot of untouched clays on the ground.

I'd like to try it again someday, with a different setup.

For some reason, I had a ton of trouble with clays and a Saiga. It's just not made for it. Over/Under, 870, 500, 930 are great skeet guns.

It's so weird, because I was hitting 75%-85% at each stage my first time shooting trap and skeet. With an 870 pump. With my Mossy 930SPX semi with 7 in the mag, +1 in the camber and another 'Ghost loaded", so 9 total in the gun. I was whooping ...! I really think it has to do with the fact that I shoot at 600-725 yards relatively often with the rifle.

Mako just shipped my order. 35 30 round AR mags. :D I also just purchased a sling for my PS-90, JP Tactical Compensator Black (.308 cal) and a Harris Ultralight LM 1A2 Series Bipod for my Savage MKII FV-SR.

Oh, and I got 875 rounds of 7.62x54R for $80 from someone who mis ordered. :D I also got some Brown Bear .308 for 45C/round. I got 250 rounds. 5.56 is still way too expensive. I'm not paying over 30C/round for 223/556. The most difficult to get is .22LR, though. But I have ~20k rounds of 22lr, so I'm good for now.

Thank you, I think I will try it. I don't worry about people laughing at me, I held my gutterball trophy high for the entire bowling alley to see.
I love skeet. My dad and I shoot the Wednesday night summer league at our local club. Give it a try FlyingV, you will have a blast. I wouldn't worry about anybody laughing at you. We were all beginners once.

I know I will be laughed at when I give it a try. That won't stop me though.

Ah, who gives a crap? Everyone started as a beginner.

I went shooting yesterday. First time shooting my Mosin Nagant. Holy hell, is that fun to shoot. It's practically a flame thrower. My freind, John, shot it so I got to see the muzzle blast. It's ~ a 3 foot ball of fire. And man, it's LOUD!!!

I put 75 00 buck and 20 3oz slugs through my new Mossberg 500. My shoulder is sore as hell today.

The Rossi M92 .357Mag lever carbine got shot for the first time, too. Holy cow, is that a fun firearm. I really want to get a Henry .22lr lever gun so I can shoot for cheaper than .357 or .38. What a dream to shoot. I love it!

Also shot the Remmy 700 w/ AAC stock. Another awesome gun to shoot. The recoil isn't as bad as my M1a (which we also shot). Probably due to the stock and soft(ish) shoulder pad.

I'm going out there again on Saturday for more shooting and to see some friends at John's that I haven't seen in a while.

And yes, shooting skeet with a rifle is very difficult. But possible; you just need to practice.

Damn, I love shooting.

Something is wrong with my Glock 30's new trigger, though. It's having failure to fire issues. And no, it's not because of hard primers. It was having trouble with PMC, Remington UMC and Winchester Ranger-T +P JHP I'd fix it, but since the ZEV Tech trigger is under warranty it's their problem. So for now, I'll be caring my XD sub-compact 9mm. Which I'm ok with (carrying the XD, not the FTF issues with he G30). I sent an email to Glockworx, so hopefully I'll hear from them soon.

Welcome, cthulhufan! We love all guns here, so feel free to post whatever. You won't find any brand fanboyism here.

Very nice Marlin! What caliber? I have a Rossi M92 .357Mag that I just shot for the first time yesterday. I'm generally an AR-15 guy, but the lever gun is more fun, imo.

Thanks!

I am a bolt and lever guy mostly and an avid hand loader but I love 'em all :)

I'm also becoming a huge fan of bolt guns. In .308, specifically. Although .22lr is fun, too. Mostly because of the cost of ammo.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Yep, very cool. You know I've been meaning to build an AR for about three years now and just never got around to it. Now all my AR fanatic buddies are giving me all manner of grief *grin* I will still build one, I promise. So many guns to get and so little time :)

She is a 2003 JM stamped Marlin 1895MR in caliber .450 Marlin. Here is a comparison, it's the cartridge in the middle, of my 375 H&H Mag, 450 Marlin and 30-30 loads:

I am loading 405 grain and 525 grain cast lead bullets for pig smashing and just general mayhem :)

Buddy, you go through a lot less rounds at the range or while practicing when you are operating a bolt!!! 22LR is one of my favorites too but I'm reluctant to shoot it right now until I can replenish what I've shot. I have plenty of bulk pack plinkers on hand but I'm down to about 2000 rounds of target ammo and I hate not being able to replace that. I like to shoot subsonic (1050 - 1070 FPS) stuff for target work like CCI Standard Velocity and Wolf Match Extra but damned if I can find replacements for my sorry supply right now and I only have a few bricks of good target stuff...

Looks like I'm draggin' out the PSL a lot more this year since I have boat loads of 54R! :)

Here she is, she is a blast to shoot:

I hear ya' about ammo availability.

Hey, if you ever want to sell your PSL I call dibs. :D Nice rifle, btw!
PSL is not for sale :) Too much fun to shoot!

I suck at taking good pics but here is one last batch.

CZ-550 Safari Magnum in 375 H&H. I love this gun. Love love love. That's a Leupold VX-R Patrol 1.25-4x30mm scope on her and it is ....:

And my bread and butter practice rifle, the CZ 452 Lux. This is a fantastic trainer...

I have since taken those see-through rings off of her and replaced them with an adjustable aperture system which works very well...

That's about all the gun pron I have on hand unless we get into my HK USP or my Para Ordinance 1911 but I'm really not a pistol guy. I love my rifles and just maintain proficiency with the pistolas. Truth be told, I'd rather have a rifle any day of the week :) Just a personal thing, I know, I know any port in a storm and all that... *grin*

Good to meet some fellow gun nuts here!
