Sharp!

Yeah, Idk if I'd mess around with 1 3/4" stuff either. Seems to just miss the whole point of a powerful 12 gauge blast lol. Still, it's cool that someone finally broke the mold that defines shotguns as we know them. 14 2 3/4" shells LOL..pretty awesome.

I don't think anyone that's messed with guns is going to have much of a problem slapping a pistol grip on a saiga. Seems simple enough ( I hope lol). I'm pumped, because this is the first fun gun I've gotten in some time. The last few purchases were just for the safe..Well, I've shot one a few times, but the 1911 is almost 100 years old, and still in the railway express package. Sad to say, I don't think it will ever fire a round.

Yeah, I'm not too worried about converting a Saiga. I have an FFL 07, afterall (certified gunsmith with the BATFE). Which means I can manufacture and sell my work. I LOVE building 1911s. So fun! I use Wilson frames and parts. Sometime CZ's Dan Wesson parts if they have more what I'm after. Funny; glassblower and gunsmith. But 'smithing is just a hobby for me. I don't have a store, just a small lathe and ancient mill in a corner of the glass studio (warehouse w/ 4 other blowers). I have built a few custom 1911s for sheriffs, though. I also built a short barrel AR for my CHL class instructor. He's active SWAT on the entry team and needed an entry gun. Built him a .300BLK caliber piston AR with 8" barrel and suppressor. Wish I took pics. Maybe I can get him to take some for me.

Dude, CHERISH that 1911! Don't ever get rid of it. I wouldn't even shoot it. Just grease it up and let it be a safe queen.

Oh, so you're the man then I see lol. I'll probably be hitting you up with questions here and there.

I've always wanted to get involved on a nice build..kids and all, never seem to find the time. Maybe this year!

And I'll love that 1911 until I quit sucking oxygen lol. Nicest firearm I have.

The new weapons are pouring in! LOL

My cousin brought his new purchase up to my house last night. His first rifle, S&W MP 15 I believe it's called. Very nice. I was in the service back in the 90's, so I'm not too familiar with all these fancy cut down carbine versions that are everywhere these days. I'm still fixated on the good old fashioned A2 models that you can swing like a ball bat if the need ever arose lol.

I don't know if I'd say I'm "the man". But I am a licensed gun smith. I can build a gun from bare frame up. I can't take a block of steel and mill it. But I'd still say I'm competent at building a nice, tight fitting 1911, AR, M4, M16, AK, FAL, MP5, etc.

Kel-Tec is making some pretty innovative stuff. Fun stuff.

They sure are. I'm just not a huge fan of Kel-Tec. They don't have the best reputation of reliability. Or more that they use cheap parts and cut corners where they can. I'd rather have a Kahr. But those are 2-3x more expensive and actually nice pistols. Especially the CM9 if we're talking about CC weapons. The P45 is a good gun, too. But it's larger. Too big for me to conceal in Houston, Tx heat and humidity.

Yep, S&W M&P (Military & Police) 15. S&W's AR-15. Very nice, well made rifles. He should look at Geissele triggers. Or if he's not comfortable taking apart the lower receiver to install the trigger, he could get a Timney drop in. AR-15 DROP-IN TRIGGER MODULE - Brownells It's a 'pack' that you just pin in place of the factory trigger, hammer, disconnector and a couple of springs.

Geissele:AR-15/M16/AR-STYLE SSA TRIGGER - Brownells
Timney:AR-15 DROP-IN TRIGGER MODULE - Brownells

I have the Geissele Super Dynamic flat trigger in my Colt AR. AR-15 SUPER DYNAMIC TRIGGERS - Brownells

The new carbines are just as sturdy as the old A2. In fact, I'm building an A2 right now. Fixed stock, carry handle, a2 post front sight, plastic handguard, direct gas impengiment instead of piston (piston is the same as an AK-47) and a 20" barrel. Semi auto. It's the exact same as the new AR-15 (civi m4/m16), just semi auto and maybe a railed fore end for attaching accessories. If you have a railed hand guard, you NEED a fore grip, because that aluminum rail gets HOT!! Or, www.magpul.com has an AFG. It's an Angled Fore Grip. They're pretty nice, especially for those that don't care for how a vertical fore grip feels. I prefer the vertical.

I don't build a lot of select fire (full auto/bust), but I do have my S.O.T. (Class III) rider. But I do build quite a few short barreled ARs, mostly suppressed.

No, not your arms dummy. I figure since the ladies have some stupid thread about fingernails, I would start one for the guys.

Lets see pics of any and all items that you have stored in your own personal arsenal!

Ooh Ooh! I'll play!

Here's just a few:
DSCN3241_zps6c7c04b1.jpg

I have 2 of each of everything you see here except for the Marlin in 30/30 Winchester which was left to me after my Father passed. Like vaping, whatever I get, I have to get the Wifey one as well. I'm not complaining though and, neither are the firearms dealers I do business with.:p

Not pictured are the Pistola's & my backyard plinker/Squirrel Rifle:

Marlin Model 1960 .22 cal. (Rifle)

Ruger LCP in .380 <--Wifes EDC

XD >40 cal.

XD(M) in 9mm. X2

XDsc 9mm X2<--My EDC

Remington 1911

Taurus PT1911 <--Taurus pistol's either suck horribly or are fantastic. This one falls into the latter category.

And last but not least, the Springfield M1A National Match I just put on layaway at my Mom & Pop gunstore. Now, the wait begins...:(

Nice stuff dude! What's a good mount (not too expensive) for the ak optics?

On the 74, I am using just a cheap UTG mount. I think I paid a whopping $29.00 for it but it locks up nice and tight and I have beat the crap out of it running around out in the woods with no ill effects. The scope is a hundred dollar Tru-Glo. Honestly, it's the only AK that I've bothered to put a scope on.

I just use the Iron sites on the 47's. I regularly drop hogs at 50-125 yds. or so with iron site's and as many of us are aware, the 47's are not a minute of angle rifle - more like minute of man...lol.

Yeah, I kinda figured that even if you dress an ak47 up all fancy, the ammo is prob going to be the weak point in accuracy. But to me, if a fella can smack a hog at those distances...that's perfect for what it is. The ball bat of assault rifles lol

Yeah, with the AK variants, it's less about the accuracy of the ammo and more about the construction of the weapon system. They flex and torque a lot on discharge of the projectile. The 47's of course, are shooting a .30 cal round (7.62X39) and maybe it's just me but, I can't get better than a 3-4" grouping on 'em.

Now, the AK-74's shoot the 5.45 round and I guess that's the Russian's answer to the American 5.56 which is what I have the scope on. Not enough recoil to throw off zero etc. and pretty accurate for what it is; a stamped metal rifle.

Check this out regarding recoil twist & torque:
