Well! not sure if getting dressed in my gym clothes (after coaching myself off the couch last night) and pulling in the gym parking lot and it being closed was a win or not :glare: oh well, back on track this weekend ! still doing good on my 1200 calorie a day thing .

Hey! You burned some calories just getting dressed and going out! That has to count for something? right?!?! :)

It's funny how 1200 calories seems like not enough at times and too much at other times
Good job! :D

Don't count calories. I count Fat. Try to keep it under 30 per day. By eating sensibly it's not too difficult.
Then my daughter starts explaining to me that protein is important - that if you don't work off your proteins they turn to fat. Never realized this has become so complicated over the years. But I have eaten lean, drank water and used fruits like banana (once) and white grapes (twice, maybe a dozen each time) to keep the hungries away. By the time I sat down to a can of Campbell Healthy Request Vegetable Beef soup, it actually tasted really good.
Did get about 30 minutes of stretching/ light exercise in this evening. But then I had my second serving of grapes and 600mg of Ibuprofen to try to keep arthritis in check tonight. I was popping pretty badly this time around, probably a result of letting myself go for too long. I just consider this Stage One - get this old body comfortable with exercise without pulling or hurting anything.
To think; when I was in my twenties and in the Military, I could just grab some dead weights and begin toning and building like it was nothing....

The program I am using keeps track of every nutrient that intake. The big three are in a pie chart.

Since you said something about fat, I decided to see what it is for today. I am at 38% right now. As far as protein, that is at 19%. Carbs are at 43%.

Calories are calories Brett. 150 calories of grapes is the same as 150 calories of pistachios, and the pistachios will keep the hunger away. I tend to lean towards more protein, especially for snacks. I've never heard that about protein turning fat. I think anything we eat in excess of what the body needs will turn to fat.

Yesterday was completely out of control foodwise for me. Feeling very guilty today, but just going to eat normally and definitely work out. Goal is 4 elliptical miles.

non digestible? Like do they sit there and grow more mushrooms?

for some reason... the structure and chemistry of mushrooms dont break down during the digestive process.. altho the release of the alkaloids does occur...

about 100 calories per pound.... probably would burn that much just chewing them ;)

Change of plans, went for a run instead. 36 degrees. Ran almost 3.4 miles, walked .6 miles.

2 mile run, half mile walk. Arms, situps, planks. I am very pleased with the progress on my arms. I think they are looking good! Papaw, pickles and olives got me through my weight loss munchies. I graze all day and never feel hungry and try not to ever eat large meals. Robin, my weight went up and down too but it always came off eventually!

WHEW! I need a shower.

They helped me lose all my weight. A baby dill pickle has 5 calories and cucumbers are natural diuretics. As a substitute for chips I get Beanitos...like doritos but made out of beans and much better for you in moderation. I also use them as "croutons" in my salads. Cottage cheese has also been one of my staples and excellent in the evenings or as a snack or mixed with taco meat or as a side to my eggs. I really am trying to make excellent food choices, although being at home is not good for my eating habits. I do much better at work.

I still have problem areas even though most of my weight is off (although I think I could lose about 10 more). Arms, stomach, thighs. I guess you could say I'm a work in progress.

I keep several cans of olives in the pantry now thanks to you RJ. They really do help curb the appetite and are low cal/ good for you.

RJ, I think you look great. And if you are still focusing on healthy eating and exercise you will continue to look better and better. I've tried those beanitos, pretty good really. I burned myself out on cottage cheese, can't go there. String cheese and pistachios are staples tho for snacks. I do much better at work also. I pack my lunch so what I bring is what I eat.

Papaw, in the morning try 2 eggs over easy with 2 slices of whole wheat toast (yeah I use a little butter also!). I eat that at least 4 days a week. It will hold you over until mid-late morning. RJ is right, smaller meals with frequent snacks makes life so much easier. I can't/won't suffer through hunger.

I also forgot almonds. Almonds are a must have at my house...but in moderation. I get the Atkins shakes. Much less sugar than most shakes. I was buying the Atkins bars but I found that the Pure Protein brand has more protein and only 1 gram more of sugar and is enough calories for a meal. I really watch my sugar nowadays. Sugar is evil. These things are not cheap but I can throw a bar for breakfast and a shake for a snack in my lunch bag and it's easy. I like easy. I'm trying to up my protein, but at the same time not gain weight. Lots of spinach salads. Lots of eggs. Eggs are the best thing in the morning. Olive oil and balsamic vinegar only for salad dressing.

Thanks Bridget. I still do have fat. I'm hoping with targeted exercise and cardio I can get the rest of it off and tone.
