I actually really like the Pure Protein bars. And I cannot stress enough how important drinking enough water is. I drink water all.day.long. Most people walk around dehydrated. Then their bodies make them think they are hungry when they are really just thirsty for water. Shoot for a gallon a day. Some days I struggle but we have a Brita filtered water dispenser in the fridge at work so it's easy to take a water bottle and fill it up. At home I have at least two cases of bottled water in the fridge so I can grab one. Having those helps my son drink water too as I don't think he drinks enough.

I'm glad you still have fat.. So do I!

Do the Pure Protein bars actually taste good?

*Taking a ton of notes*

Taking the day off from the elliptical again. Something is going on with my left hip. Ugh. Might have to give up the elliptical for about a week. The pain is waking me up after about a 4 hour sleep. I hate taking aleve or ibuprofen in any kind of regularity, but the last two nights I have had to pop a pill just to get that much sleep before the pain wakes me up.

Has anyone tried those Morning Star veggie burger type things? If so, any good?

Weight this morning: 136.8
I know not getting good sleep is not helping.

I'll be fine...eventually

I think my Bathroom Scale is broken. No Way I've lost 10 pounds in three days.
I don't think I can drink a gallon of water a day. Too many bathroom breaks to a Trucker to do. But I am up to two or three bottles of Aquafina, so that's maybe as much as a half gallon. Which is a half gallon a day more than I used to drink. I do know changing your diet can change whether or not anyone wants to stay in the room with you. After light snacks of fruit / plain crackers most of the day, I had a can of Split Pea & Ham soup for supper. Uhhhg, even the dogs wouldn't stay in the room with me.

how much does methane weigh ?

I remember having hip pain when I started on my treadmill. Just take a few days break and it'll get better. An injury would be no good!

Congrats Papaw!! Bridget's right...especially men...you need more calories to feed your body. And believe me I wasn't always good about getting enough calories. Right now I'm not hungry in the least but I know my body needs food so I'll be fixing some eggs soon.

I feel good today. I feel tighter after doing the core work. I'll be shooting for a full 3.1 miles today. Doubt I can run the whole thing but at least go the distance. Gotta get groceries first.

This thread has me excited again!

Hi everyone! I have not been much of a health nut lately, but I'm trying to do better and hoping to get some inspiration here!

Morningstar veggie burgers are ok. Pretty good if you load them up with tomatoes, pickles, mustard, etc. The black bean burgers are even better, really flavorful. If you want one that tastes more like a burger instead of pressed seasoned veggies, try a Boca burger. Usually right next to Morningstar brand, but they are in a red box. They are soy protein instead of veggies and they taste pretty good.

how much does methane weigh ?

14.3 grams Explanation: Taking the approximation of methane as an ideal gas we can use the equation: PV=nRT P=pressure = 1atm V= 1 ft^3 = 1 inch^3 *12^3 = 1,728 inches^3 = 1,728 *(2.54^3) cm^3 = 28,316 cm^3 = 28.3 L n=number of moles R= gas constant = 0.082057 L*atm/(mol*K) T = 60 F = 15.6 C = 288.8 K Solve for n gives n=1.19 moles Methane is CH4 and has a molar mass of 12+4 = 16 Therefore you have 14.3g of methane.

Food for thought. I can give credit for much of my weight loss to this.

Fact #1. Your body requires sugar to live. It's where all our energy comes from. If you don't have enough sugar in your blood you die. Oops, game over.

Fact #2. Your body converts most everything you eat or drink into sugar, and if it makes too much (which it gleefully does) it stores it, and the favorite place to store it is in fat cells. Yes, that's right.

Fact #3. Because your body does not want to EVER chance dying, it will NEVER use this stored sugar if it doesn't have to. It hoards it, saves it for a rainy day, and the more fat you have the more it can hoard. And the more it hoards the more fat is produced providing even more storage. What a Catch-22.

So what happens if you deprive your body of sugar? Not too hard to connect those dots. It won't like it, but it has no choice but to burn some fat to get the sugar it needs. This is exactly how all those low carb diets work.

GT just explained why I am trying to limit Fat and cutting Sugar. As someone who has had loved ones in both families diagnosed with Sugar Diabetes, I have been preached to of how the body converts Sugar to Insulin, and the Insulin is what tells the body to 'Store'. By limiting Sugar intake, the Body is less likely to 'Store' and seeks other ways to find calories (Energy). The US Military uses this technique in Boot Camp to help recruits loose excess body fat. Dietary Fats and Carbs can also be used for burning energy, but if you limit Fats, the Body turn to what has been stored. And I've got about 40 lbs. of 'Stored' I would like to get rid of. Light stretching exercises, 30 minutes a day, could help burn calories and help with Osteoarthritis. Glucosamine Chondroitin, Calcium/ Magnesium/ Zinc tablets and Fish Oil caplets have been added to alleviate Arthritis limitations, which in turn helps to loose weight which will hopefully in turn help alleviate Arthritis pain.

All of which means I still need to loose some weight.

This is why I adore you BK!!!! Reminds me of college.............

All of which means I still need to loose some weight.

The only actual sugar (as in granulated) I add to anything is in my morning coffee. I have cut that back by 3 tsp. I am now down to one tsp per cup. I miss my sweet coffee :(

That being said, there are sugars in almost everything you eat. Fruit, breads, cereal (added to the cereal by the manufacturers or naturally occurring), just about anything you put into your mouth. I do not drink sodas or sweetened drinks. I drink a glass of OJ once or twice a week, it is what we used to always use for juice, an actual juice glass. About 6oz.

The program I am using insists on me adding the nutrition information of anything the program doesn't already have in its data base. Oh my lord, there is a lot that it doesn't have. Once I have entered it, whenever I eat that food, it calculates down to the gram, what my intake is for each bit of nutrient.

Example: My sugar for today is trending above target. The things that I have eaten that has caused this? My sugar in the coffee and the skim milk for my cereal. (Had rice chex for breakfast) Not much I can do about the milk. The 4.5 tsp of sugar is the main culprit. I seriously cannot go less. Ok, ok, I will try to only have a tsp per cup instead of the 1.5 tsp.

As you can see by my weight, I am not heavy. I'm 5'6" and have a small frame. Every pound I am overweight shows. I just have those few pounds that I couldn't get rid of. Most of it was from inactivity and I seriously let my metabolism go to hell. I am back on track and am getting healthy and Active again. :)

Weighed myself for the heck of it, after weeding all day at the MIL's....135.8. We do lose weight while we are sleeping and the body is processing everything. Not enough sleep, the body doesn't like that either.

You guys are doing great! Congrats! Yes, I've been absent from this thread. I was noticing some of my eating disorder behaviors/thinking starting to crop back up. For me, I'm healthier staying away from the health nut thread :)

But I am proud of you all and happy to see some new folks getting healthy too.
