2 miles done - a few tenths backwards. Then speed and resistance.
weights and situps and planks

We went out for Mexican food to celebrate our 2 years in Florida. Can't believe we have been here that long already. Time sure is flying.

I remember you sitting on the steps of your Philly crib waiting for the mailman to deliver your HHV. :)

OMG I remember that too! Now that you mention that :D
Lord, I couldn't wait for it to get there. We were having problems with the substitute carrier putting the mail in the slots that weren't used and no one had a key for. LOL

We don't have that problem anymore ;)

As I expected, I did gain a bit from indulging yesterday. Wasn't too awfully much. I am at 130.2 from 129.8. Not bad at all. I actually thought it would be more but I did manage to get 3 bottles of water in me :p

I want to try and drag DH out for a walk somewhere so I don't have to get on the elliptical  There is a nature trail not far from us. I do not want to walk it by myself for the first time

Goal for the day: Walking and water :)

Beautiful day here, 60 degrees, light wind. Wish I didn't have to clean house. Got my run/walk and other exercises done, so nice not to layer up clothes.

Is this just a normal fitness gains and losses thread or does it have to do with increases in fitness after quitting smoking?

Sundays are a low and slow day so I did 4.2 miles today at a ~10:30 pace. Moving a little stiffly still from Friday's Sprint workouts. Ouchie.

Moved from Japan (cold) to Bahamas (HOT!!) so it's taken me just about a year to acclimate to the extreme heat while running. Goal is to be at 30+ miles a week by the end of the summer and then (hopefully) 40 miles a week by next Xmas.

Congrats RJ!!!!!

You are doing FANTASTIC! I wanna be like you when I grow up! ;)
I never could run though. Who knows, that might change :p

I never fancied myself a runner either. I was always more of a "chest and arms" guy in the gym. About 5 years ago I realized that I was fat when I got out of breath tying my shoes (true story) and realized that the gym wasn't cutting it like it did in the good old days when my metabolism was still around.

I started with low impact elliptical, moved onto the treadmill and finally onto the road. 14 months later I had lost 75 lbs (started at 215... I'm 5'6") and I was putting down close to 60 miles a week. I thought the runner's high was a made up thing but it's real. For a solid 2 years all I could think about was my next run or the next .5-lb I was going to lose.

I've slowed down the running to something a little more commiserate with the high temps here, but running quite literally changed my life.

Start slow. Don't go too far initially and get fitted for GOOD shoes at a RUNNING store. You can get there!
