The "imod"

You shortened the box?, wow, how Para of you...I hope my buddy doesn't see your mod on here...I made him a single 18650/DCC 5ml tank with a recessed ss Mamu clicky switch (I love those, but I guess at $7/ea. who wouldn't)...he fell in love with the box the first time he held the Imod...there's enough empty space to shave more than an inch off (not that I want to, he's not that good a buddy )...so, do you blow out an end and rebuild or cut a chunk out of the middle and epoxy back together?

Edit: on that decalling (is that a word?) material, how good does it stick?

I cut off the top and fabbed a new end with some plastic from my cheap old box mods I got at madvapes, cause my lhs didn't have any abs in stock.

The vinyl wrap sticks very well. Its the same stuff they use for cell phone skins and the like. Sticks wells but doesn't leave a residue when you remove it.

I finally got around to finishing the mod I thought of after seeing this one. I wanted the hidden display, but in black. I worked that part out fairly quickly, then just got lazy. I lost the woodgrain looking one I posted earlier in this thread last weekend in the woods, so I finally had the motivation I needed. Anyhow, here is my version of the iMod in black.

I'm waiting on a mom-off-mom toggle switch that will stick out the top to arrive to finish off the wiring for the meter. Everything else is pretty much done. The wiring is largely based off Mamu's Dena design, except I used a small bit of pcb to hold all the caps, resistors, and potentiometer.

I think I would have used a little less tolerance in the battery compartment for more spring compression.

Yeah, the bottom was originally going to have a slide switch hidden down there, but I ended up nixing that idea. May build a small platform to tighten it up if it becomes a problem.

Nice job...what kind of black paint did you use?...I tried black on another mod I built with a ghosted meter and I ended up having to sand it all off as the meter was totally obscured. I ended up going with a midnight blue (red meter) which sort of worked...in dim light it showed purple.

No paint. I used an exterior tail light smoke out film. Stronger than window tint and allows alot of light out. I couldn't imagine a way to make paint work for a ghosted display in black.
