This thing sounds great. Couple questions...

1) I see the IMR's being tested. What would happen with a regular & larger capacity aw 18500? Will it still work just maybe to a limited level?

2) Since the Kick adjusts on the fly, is there any danger of a runaway battery or fried Kick if an atty fails during use and the Kick struggles to do its' job?

3) Will there be a little adjustment tool sold to use with the kick? If so, it should be designed so it will go on my keychain.

Does anyone know what time this is our time here in the USA? I'm looking at GMT converters and it's not working.

1. Though bigger protected batteries such as the 2600mah AW 18650 would have enough juice to power it, Evolv only recommends the use of IMR batteries in the Kick.

2. The Kick has short protection and will shut down

3. A small jewlers type screwdrive works and I'm looking into possibilites, even having a special tool machined if need be.

through testing with a "borrowed" darwin, i find myself to like my vape between 7-8 watts,
what kind of tools would i need to adjust the kick to be able to set it.

as in do i just feel it out, or will there be some type of indication on the pot to let me know where i am at(in wattage)...

or would there be some type of indication, as in 1/4 turn increases watts by "X" ammount.

or is this all yet to be determined?

I'm not questioning the design, just curious.
I'm hovering around this thread to hear the news about the end of beta testing, like a kid looking at his christmas gifts, waiting to open them.

:D:vapor:

+1 for the idea of a ring spacer... I want a P+18650 for its battery capacity, and hope to keep it that way ;)

In the land of no hills and red dirt
Beat you under the tree....heh heh....you're going to just love a Kick on a PrecisePlus 18650! Hits great with every hit of the switch.

The pot has graduations marked on it for reference and you only need a small flat screwdriver to adjust it. Only one turn (not even quite a full turn) is required to go from its lowest setting to its highest. As i recall Brandon said the lowest setting is 5 watts and turning it all the way up is 10 watts (on the beta units). So the halfway point would be 7.5 watts, 3/4 of the way would be 8.25 watts etc.

I've been ecstatic since I ordered a Precise + 18650 a cpl of days ago (its being handled by norwegian customs atm). I'm sure I'll love it by itself
And now this!

Experiencing this kind of excitement is quite rare as an adult.

Welcome arbogast! Did it clear customs for you?!

That is indeed great news, David! I'm thrilled to know that it's official regarding the Kick working with 18350 IMR batts. And 4 hrs is a decent amount of time... Is your mom a heavy vapor? Just curious if you know how many mls per day she vapes in order to have a more realistic idea of what that time frame represents... Also, I'd like to know which resistance atty/carto was she using since that's relevant to amp draw and battery longevity.

Thanks.

My mom is a moderate to heavy. In the spirit of full disclosure, we are now uncertain whether she got 3 or 4 hours out of it. I though she vaped from 7-11 on it and she though it may have been 8-11. We will need to retest. I also believe others will be beta testing their P+18500 with the Kick, so we should have multiple feedback on just how long an AW IMR 18350 will last.

Brandon just needs to send me a beta and I could test 18350, 18500, and 18650 :D

I am really hoping his before Christmas projection becomes a reality. That is only about 3-4 weeks out!!

True, keep in mind that when comparing vape times that you'll want to compare them to the same mod, as different mods will produce different vape times.

I should clarify the above a bit more: the Kick shuts off when your battery hits 3.2 volts loaded. There has been two prior tests of the PrecisePlus (i posted the results in a prior thread) and the PrecisePlus holds .2 volts higher under load. This will result in longer vape times as the PrecisePlus will take longer to hit the 3.2 volts loaded shutoff threshold so ones mod vape times may not be comparble to another mods.

Thank you for the welcome. Yes, there were no problems. An insignificant fee was all. 1/2 hour prior to writing this I unwrapped the parcel from cloud9vaping. Even with the research i did before ordering I'm flabbergasted/speechless/dumbfounded etc.
It's a beatiful thing you've crafted! Oh, and it works, too ;)
