GGTS ODY UnKicked

GGTS ODY Kicked

ggtskicked.jpg

Is this with the Ody 510 connector? When I use the GGTS Ody connector, I get about a good half inch of threads showing on my tele, unless I'm just doing something stupid.

My results have been less than spectacular with the Kick - I'm using it set at the highest setting with the Ody and a 1.2ohm coil. Hits seem weak. Would I get better results using a higher ohm coil? 1.2 is just my standard Ody coil and I've got quite a few made up. :)

Yes, try making a 2.5 ohm coil with a thinner wire. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Wow, I love this thing with my Single coil cartos and atty's on the SS GGTS for Sure :D I don't even have it turned up all the way and it is blowing everything away including my Stacked batteries. So now I can use my 3+ Ohm 801 Fusions on the GG. These things are hitting fierce :D Right now I have it set up with a 510 to 801 adapter and a brass stealth cap to minimize the threads showing on the telescope :D At least until I can get my hands on another top tube when I get home from Panama City, FL. It did take some fiddling to make it work, but once I got it working it is without a doubt amazing :D

Yeah I need another top tube, I shouldn't have sold my extra months ago. I can't fit an 18650 with a carto in the collector tank.

It can be done, it is just going to leave a lot of telescope threads showing. I got it to work but it was opened up rally really wide. I prefer just a couple threads showing on the telescope with the Stealth Cap, and luckily since I like using 801's on the GG I do have an adapter to be able to still use them on the stealth cap since it is 510 threaded :D

I vape 2.5ohm coils in the ody at 6v (14ish watts), so you'll get 5.2v tops out of the kick. I'd shoot for something closer to 1.6-1.9ohms, your vapor production will be much better and you'll actually get better battery life.

I just got my SS GGTS #075 (first GG,yay) today.. It came with 2 top tubes so I got the 18650 and kick to fit.. Now its all stainless, including the bottom cap.. Put everything together, start to vape with the kick and an ikv HV 510.. Intermediate firing wouldnt fire up the atty.. for more then a half a second.. I was like damn, must be a dead batt, Put a new batt in, the same thing! Figured a bad connection somewhere, so i took the whole thing apart, cleaned out all the threads and re-noaloxed everything trying for a better connection.... still the same, wtf? So i thought maybe i collapsed the spring, changed the spring... still the same...AAAAHHHH! cant use the kick?? DANG! Said screw it took the spring assembly thing out, dropped the battery in straight on the bottom cap post, put the kick back in, screwed it all together... now she vaping beautifully!!! AWESOME! Next i try the ODY with this freaking sweeeet air adjustment.. Just wanted to tell my first GG story to yall.. LOL thanks for reading!

I do have a question tho.. Why wont the kick work with the spring and stuff in the bottom cap?

It will, but it depends on your configuration. I've only tried it with the newer style brass battery springs, but it has worked for me most of the time. If you compress the spring too much, it'll misfire or give you the stutter vape, though. I did have this problem when using 18650s with the spring installed. I've been running without a spring to better fit 18650s with my Ody and UFS (Kick has short circuit protection built-in), but I still use the spring when running shorter batts (I'd rather be safe than sorry, an extra level of protection is always good)

If you're having trouble with using the spring, try just barely screwing your telescope down to where it makes contact and fires. This would confirm or rule out the possibility that the spring is just over-compressed and causing it to short a little

Cleaning and polishing the inside of the top tube a little more thoroughly may help, too. The connection there with the ground spring on the Kick seems to be very finicky. If it doesn't make perfect electrical contact it will cause all kinds of issues

Overall I've got mine working consistently with the exception of one particular battery that I just can't get it to work with and can't fathom a reason why

Yeah I made my 18650 fit using a rethreader and a 901-510 adapter, It made the center pin go far enough up. Here is a picture with my ssggts kicked w/ 18650 and a lava tank. You can see how many threads are showing. I can put my o-rings on the telescope to cover the threads and it wouldn't look bad.

sorry for terrible picture:

I got it working great now, but without the spring.. Its an AW IMR 18650 too. I did the whole cleaning thing and tried every way i could even with the tele out, all the way in.. wouldnt work with the spring in..

Just tried mine with an 18650, 2 top tubes, and a SS stealth cap with a 1.5ohm HH.357 and it's underperforming to my standards. Flavor is great, hit is consistent, but I'm just not getting enough vapor. Atty could need to be broken in a bit more, but I don't think that'll make a big enough difference.
