I like that idea, and also the other ideas about LED stripes, and so on. I am 100% in favor of unnecessary LEDs. Especially unnecessary blinking or moving lights! It's a sci-fi thing!
But those are pretty big design changes. Pretty soon, the way we're growing, we'll be big enough to start creating and comissioning our own designs and models, but right now, I think the ring LED is the most practical idea to pursue.
Oh, and just brighter LEDs in general, too. !
HEY! Speaking of unnecessary power draining LEDs, what do you guys think about the VP1's LED flashlight attachment?Useful addition, or overkill?

You mean for manuals - remove the carto, and use as a flashlight? been there done that
I still want infra red and ultra violet, particularly ultra violet, then it can double for lots of things.. checking for counterfeit money, verifying club stamps, verifying the maid rally changed the sheets at the motel...
And on the note of using a silicone cap to make the light visible, i did it for a while but it looked a lil tacky and clunky - one time i just put a lil hole in the end, and it worked fine, the other batt i tried it on didn't work so well so i ended up just cutting the 'corner edges' over the air holes in the end so i ended up with a cap kinda like:
