With kanthal I think it's just a matter of preference.
With kanthal I prefer parallel 28ga micro coils
With Ni200 I prefer a single work hardened 28ga nontwisted spaced coil

You're way more sophisticated than I am, Willie! :D

But I have to say I was intrigued when I saw a tutorial about winding tightly spaced kanthal coils on a screw (or was it a bolt of some kind?). Really neat coils. Can't remember where I saw it...

Performance wise, a contact/micro coil wins. However, I recently built a spaced coil for use on some gunky liquids, and the longer time between re-wicking has already become very apparent.

With a macro coil I could get one to two tanks before having to re-wick. Currently, I'm on my fourth tank with the spaced coil.

I use a machine screw, and leave it in the coil while mounting it. After its secured, just unscrew the screw from the coil. Leaves the spacing nice and uniform.

Do you happen to know the size of your screw? I'm aiming for a 2-2.4mm coil I.D., which I understand is the perfect size for the Lemo.

still off topic, but doesn't all the chargers limit themselves to 750mah max during charge? I don't really see how 500mah would be that much slower, that's why I love my mods with exchangable batteries so I don't have to be without the mod while it's charging. With the istick i would have at least two at hand to be safe. haha
