I could use some help here. Due to my own stupidity, I cleaned and then left my Lemo Drop in a cup of water overnight. Well, the head of the fill screw rusted, but surprisingly, other parts rusted as well. I have tried cleaning with soap and water but it won't come off. Any tips on how to get this clean, or is it toast?
Try using some CLR on it. It should just be on the surface and probably came from the fill screw. Good luck!
Most of that will wipe right off. What doesn't wipe off should easily come off with something like Fantastic or 409. If that doesn't get it then Toilet-boil cleaner will. If the rust wasn't caused by the screw, then there is carbon present in the Stainless Steel, and those spots will likely reappear later.
Don't let it soak in any of the above or it could change the surface finish of the metal. All of those work best when the surface is dry, And unless you want it to look like crap, I wouldn't use steel wool, or any other abrasive

OK all. I'm generally using 28ga kanthal for my coils, and have really been struggling with the post hole screws and getting my leads trapped underneath. Have most of you given up on them and replaced with another screw? It seems that going with 26 ga wire or larger might make things worse.I eventually get it done, but man I struggle.
I've had ZERO success trapping the leads in the terminal holes.

Are you lubing the screw heads with juice? That helps keep the screw head from dragging the wire out from under the screw head when tightening.
Not getting where you are having probs trapping wire in the post holes though. Works fine on my Lemo.

No, I haven't ever tried lubing the screw heads. I will give that a shot. I have no idea why I jsut can't trap them in the holes on the build deck. Guess I need to watch some videos from someone else doing that. I can't get any part of it right...and end up messing up my coil in the process.
I'm a visual person, so any links to a video of someone building by trapping in the post holes on a Lemo would be much appreciated. (If someone knows of one off hand. All the ones I've watched are trapping them under the screw heads.
If you are trying to use the post holes, I would suggest longer legs, pull the excess thru the holes with tweezers while keeping whatever you have wrapped your coil around in the coil. Hope that helps when you want to use the holes.

28g shouldn't be to bad to get trapped under the screws. Try to finish your coil so the leg will wrap clockwise around the screw, that way when you tighten it it will not push the wire out. Also, leave the legs long enough so you can wrap around the screw (not completely) then pull the remaining back across the opposite side of the deck and hold it down. All this should be done while the coil is still on what ever you wrapped it around, so it will keep it's shape.
This is for the R91, but same build. Skip to 25:30 if it doesn't start you there.

Thanks.... I did find a vid right away . RipTrippers shows his build both ways. Yeah......I was doing some things the hard way. I'll have to experiment more.
This is something I haven't paid attention. that might explain why I usually struggle keeping one under the screw, but not the other. I think maybe one of them is being wrapped counterclockwise and working out as I screw it down.

To clean surface rust from metal just soak it in coka-cola for a night. Wipe off with a rag in the morning
Vape it.
Just FYI I just rinse mine, blow them out, paper towel dry them, I never let mine air dry or leave them in water.
once a month I will break them down completely and boil them out.
The easiest way is to put a drop of liquid on the screws before wrapping your wires. The juice acts as a lubricant so the screw won't try to spit out the wire as you tighten it down. I use 26ga wire and never have problems when securing the wire.
Oh yea, mine don't spend anytime in water other than a quick bath when I get them and a quick rinse and towel dry before a rebuild!! I just thought something mildly abrasive like tooth paste might help get the rust off!!
Wrap the lead once around the screw, and then tighten. I've trapped as thick as 24ga wire this way in the Lemo.
Got my lemo hitting like a champ now. 1.8ohm coil and used the wicking job like ww did a few pages back with the bridge between the two wicks with some Japanese cotton. Very happy with everything! Thanks all for the info I found here! Running it between 10-11watts.
I guess one day i could have a go at a nest wick but I'm doing great with the conventional way - wick ends touching the deck pushed away from sides of chamber.
Maybe the nest way is sort of like a dual coil build using one wick - more cotton more liquid on tap but in the future I'll get a dual coil rta.
This ones 1.8Ω i go 13-14 watts. No dry hits even with several vapes in a row - Using rayon - i switch between rayon & kgd.
