I heard that ? that Chantix stuff is scary........on the commercial it clearly states this product could cause suicidal thoughts and actions
oh yeah im hoping on that cart NOT .....
Listen to the side-effects of ANY of the BP's stuff on the evening news ads.....
You're almost better off with the "side-effects" of.....the DISEASE!!!
Let's see.......I could suffer from RA....and live with some pain....
Or....I could take this med......and risk DEATH......???!!!
Gee....Decisions....decisions.....!!!
Hell, I hate taking ONE 650mg Tylenol when my RA acts up!!!:(
Reminds me of the old Jack Benny skit.....where Benny is held up....the robber says: "Your money...or your life!!!"
(Pregnant PAUSE.....)
Robber:".....WELL???.....)
Benny: "I'm THINKING IT OVER!!!":D

Skinr1 your post is kinda discouraging to people that might be here for support. Perhaps we should celebrate those that were able to quit and those that are trying to and not focus on those that have failed and went back to cigarettes.

The glass is half full, not half empty.

People here do fall off the wagon. We don't put their head on a stake as a warning, we circle back and hoist them back on the wagon if they need it. It seems better to know up front that vaping is not a magic potion you take one day and poof, you're a nonsmoker. It does take some effort for some people. Then there are those creeps that pick up a PV and never have the urge to smoke again. I love the creeps, but honestly, for many of us it was a big struggle to convert to vaping. Folks should know from the beginning that it's not always easy but also that there are folks on here 24-7 willing to help. I am really glad I didn't know about the "creeps" when I started vaping or I might have given up.

Honestly, I don't know what to make of the initial post.
I was happy with my life as a smoker and even happier as an ex-smoker.

To determine if ecigs is a fad would call into question what vaping actually entails.
Is it the lesser of 2 evils? I don't see it that way.
I can't fathom how something which has allowed me to give up cigarettes is considered evil.

I'll tell you what's evil............waiting for vape mail!

I dont know why, but some people who are smokers do not look back what they did to their body. 600 chemicals my friend before you even light them. 4000 chemicals my friend when you light them. 400 of fatal 50 of carcinogen.
Let me tell you a story
2 men on a train travelling one of them gets a fish out of bag snaps the head eats the head and throws the body away. after several tries the other guy asks him why he eats heads. "it makes you very wise" he says eating one more and throwing body. can you give me one to try? he asks. No he says it is not much only enough for him. He offers money and they settle on 20 bucks he takes one fish out snap the head and give him while he is eating the head he eats body. hey what the hack other asks you ate the body? see he says how it made you wise.

after engaging some time they become health aware these vapers, and becomes philantropists and warn people against vaping and boldly say smoking is better.
of course they dont expect to convert old vapers but new beginners because they still are inclined on cigarette side at the beginning.

No sir I dont want you to be engaged with my health if you find smoking better go ahead but dont try to poison anybody with you.

Your fight is desperate because we were with VG and glicol and nicotine all along. You omitted to see the ingredients we are not burning them my friend they are whatever they are before we vape and after we vaped. All the queer nino products you try to give us are far more in cigarettes and even air we breath.
Save your breath my friend we are the guinea pigs with these medicine.I have been vaping 9 months yet.
Do you know what changed? Let me tell you
- I could not walk without stopping to breath now ıcan walk without any break
- I can smell
- I can taste
- I dont have any coughing fits anymore
- My doctor says my lungs are better than before

so bon voyage my friend happy smokings It is your funeral

have we all really stopped smoking or is it just a fad ? I did recently read an article that was a 2 year study of 500 participants all smokers that were put on ecigs
and over 80% reported failure and returned to smoking so
the question is are we all just looking at ecigs as the lesser of 2 evils for the moment ? because its a popular fad
and someday will we all most likely return to cigs ?
Somewhere amongst all the ecig videos shows the Doctor who was in charge of running this test was amazed at seeing
a VIDEO showing how to properly begin inhaling and exhaling the VAPORS of an e-cigarette...
He was asked if the participants of his TESTS were shared this kind of information.
He said NO! He didn't know about this type of information...
He failed to share vital information with the participants that could have made all the difference in the world
effecting the tests.

But the fact still remains even with the lack of information at least 20% quit smoking regular cigarettes all together!!!
That's 100 individuals out of 500... NOW there's success to be proud of considering these folks had no one single person
but themselves to rely on.

A little about me... I am a very old man... who still loves life and people greatly as well as our Mother Earth.
I smoked much longer than most folks posting here have been alive... and that I don't believe is anything to brag about.
I quit smoking a few years back... I started VAPING a couple of months ago... 0 nic and .6 nic and
My health and even greater my happiness has improved wonderfully... and that's not a fad... that can be bought anywhere!!!

"Just my opinion"
And, anyone that says going back to smoking and smelling like the
the dirty bottom of an ash tray makes them feel better... is a fool.

Let's face it. Vaping is not smoking. And if you're 'not ready' or open to the idea to change from smoking cigarettes to vaping, it's not going to happen. You will come up with numerous reasons as to why you 'can't vape but the bottom line is that you're just not ready.

Those of us who have made the switch can patiently explain why vaping is better for you than smoking as well give suggestions to make vaping a positive experience, but if a person isn't ready, they're not ready.

I congratulate everyone here who has made the switch and are working toward reducing and hoping to eliminate nicotine. We should all be very proud of ourselves. It's a long journey. Some may have slips along the way but it's so worthwhile.

Did I just trade one habit for another? Yes Absolutely. Is'nt that the point?
In fact if you want to get technical it's still the same habit, just another way of going about it.

Whats the difference? Smoking was killing me, Vaping isnt (or if it is its alot slower than cigarettes).

the only way I'll ever smoke again is if I can't vape.

The problems I've had thanks to cigarettes are no longer occurring. No more wheezing and shortness of breath. My lungs sounded awful. Every year I'd get a lung infection. Last November was the last time I smoked. I went to the clinic due to my annual lung infection and the nurse took one listen to my lungs and looked genuinely concerned and actually, kind of sad for me. She said "How old are you again" and I responded "33 about to be 34". She shook her head and told me my lungs sounded like an old miners lungs. She added that if they sounded as bad in a week I should get x-rays. I got my antibiotics and went straight to a vape shop. I highly doubt I'm going to get a lung infection this year. There's no more gurgling and wheezing when I breath. No more shortness of breathe, no more chest pains. Yes, I'm still inhaling a drug that is a known carcinogen but I'm much better off than I have been in years.

Im 24 and so i had only been smoking for a few years, ill get on to how i felt in a bit. Im also the generation it seems that could be susceptible to fad's.

I had been smoking for three years, and i couldn't run for the train anymore, I'm a little musical and my voice was shot, i felt groggy and lacklustre, and i wanted to stop. But smoking is nice, at least as an action, puffing away on something. Standing outside pubs all the time however, was grim.

So i got into vaping, and i feel better, sure i fancy a cigarette occasionally, i usually have one in those times, but day to day i vape, and i have never felt better, i will defiantly never pay for tobacco ever again.

With Vaping i can puff away on something sweet while i watch movies, when i go to my mums house, when i sit in pubs, without smelling, and without being cold! and all whithout killing myself or anyone else.

No brainer, its a good thing and its here to stay. I wish you the best of luck!

:)

I guess it really depends on the person, from what you said maybe those people were affected by vaping differently than others, all I know is that I feel much better knowing I'm only inhaling 4 or 5 things rather than thousands of poisons in analogs. I am almost at 5 weeks smoke/tobacco free (almost had hookah tobacco) and I feel a little bit better, I enjoy vaping more and sometimes I do miss analogs but overall I feel a bit healthier and I hope that feeling keeps improving. It might be the lesser of two evils but now I can get my nicotine in 100's of flavors and I can do it right as wake up and not have to wait and go outside for it. just my 2 cents

I read this post a while back. There may be something good about vaping PG.

to this day i will never understand how my grandparents made it to their 80s-90s and they were smokers
but she was lost in her 30s and never touched 1 .

I would not wander such things because it is irreleant. the cause of the death is something, comitting suicide with the same thing is another

Vaping isn't easy. With cigarettes, you light it and you're good. Even with the patch and gum, there's simple directions to follow and it either works for you or it doesn't. With vaping there are so many choices/variables that it's easy to fail. I started with an ego battery and a ce4, and yeah, I was one of those creeps who picked up vaping and put down the cigarettes almost immediately BUT I had already found this place before I started vaping. Some people are perfectly happy with their 510 batteries and cartos, I'm not positive I would have kept with it if I had stuck to just my ego and ce4. As it is, I'm just starting to step down my nic from 24mg, but I'm using much better equipment and get a much more satisfying vape. I can also go hours without a vape, and even after hours it's not the same twitchy need like it was when I was smoking.

Is vaping for everyone? No. Is it the lesser of two evils? That depends on you, for me it's an enjoyable hobby that also happens to keep me from smoking. Will I just eventually return to smoking? No, if I ever quit vaping, and then feel the need to start something again, I'll go back to vaping. If something unimaginable happens and I can't get my e-liquid anymore, I'll pick up DIY or go 0 nic and tough it out. I never plan to smoke again.

Well, I was a smoker for 25 years, my partner for around the same period of time. Both of us were I would say "heavy" smokers - me on 20+ cigarettes a day, her on probably more "roll ups".

I've been vaping now for 8+ weeks; she, around 4 weeks. Both of us will not go back to cigarettes again. We even had a roll-up the other night when our units ran out of power (have now got a battery pack to avoid that happening) when out with smoking friends...we didn't think afterwards that we're missing out on anything. We *prefer* vaping...no more ashtrays, smell, mess...better breathing...it's all good.

Yes, we're addicted to the vaping like we were the cigarettes - but it's so much better for us in so many ways.

Skinr1, there are a lot of questionable articles and general information about vaping out there. If you have not already, have a look at the information on the CASAA website here. CASAA is a reputable organization and I trust them to put good information on their site. Their reputation must stay extremely clean or they lose their credibility.

Vaping is not for everyone. Some just would never try it. Some think it wouldn't work to get them off cigarettes. Some don't want to try to quit smoking. Some are for some other reason just not inclined to try it. I've seen all these. On top of all that, it does take a lot more work than smoking does and a support group really helps.

I smoked for 37 years and I quit 18 months ago by switching to vaping. I feel great compered to when I smoked. Yes, vaping has only been around since about 2004 I think, but that means we have vapers who have been doing this for nine years now. I'm not aware of anyone ever becoming ill from vaping. There can be irritations or allergies to PG, VG or some flavorings, but most people who try to figure things out work through it.

For me this is not a fad and it sure beats smoking.

Best of luck on your journey :thumb:
