This mod vapes like a monster, went through 3 tank fulls since last night, the wick stays perfectly wet every pull you take with great flavor and vapor, try this guys I'm telling ya its better then the mesh when using this line.
In your opinion it is better than mesh. Most of us that use lines would probably not agree with you. You have been here a long time and know most of us want to stay away from silica. I don't think SS mesh is utopia and even prefer the cotton on vivi type but IMO silica give terrible flavor, not to mention any health reasons. So every one to his own.

I agree to each there own BJ,,,Cotton can be good at times, cheesecloth can be too, it all depends on what the set up is in my opinion, and nobody knows what the long term effects are of any of this really, and taking an electrical charge to ss and sucking on it all day could have some unknown results as well,, but I still like Silica it has a excellent natural wicking ability and works very well and to me has good flavor when kept wet, and as long as it is kept wet I'm OK with using it.

Choices are good to have, I have nothing against cotton and this set up can be used with pretty much whatever one chooses to use, and this thread wasnt about those choices, it was only about this wicking Mod I choose to use on my line and others a like choose it too over SS, cotton, and cheesecloth, again choices are a good thing and we all have them to use what we like. Cotton can also be wrapped around the silica and as long as it is kept very wet it can work too.The one thing I have found with cotton is it has to stay very wet all the time, and if it isnt it can taste pretty nasty too,, for this set up I still like Silica best.

BJ, After testing a few things, I can agree with you if using a vivi tank like you use and using cotton, and using cotton in certain tanks where the cotton legs of the wick are floating in liquid and are submersed to keep the coil very wet,,,, but in certain RBA Attys , and certain other tank like situations, cotton just doesnt work as good for me because it just doesnt wick as well as the silica, And in the line Silica works better for me as well.

I've been playing with some cheesecloth wicks on my line, taste is a bit funny to me using straight cheesecloth, so I took a piece of the cheesecloth a small piece and wrapped it around a piece of silica just at the top section where my coil wraps around the wick, and have just the silica running down into the tank and just 2 turns of the cheese cloth around the Silica at the coil. It's working OK but I still taste the dam cotton, and its soaking wet so no burning, do others taste the cotton-eeee taste ? or is it just me ? It's almost like a dry taste with the cheesecloth yet the wick is soaking wet,, to me the Silica gives me better flavor still. Same thing using cotton or cotton around the silica, its a dry tasting vape to me and flavor just isnt as good for me as using the straight Silica. Wished I could report differently ( BJ43) but for me the Silica is still better.

Oh geeeez. After having a new version 3, RA tank from DFW sitting on my desk for 2 weeks with a sheet of 325 & 400 SS I finally get around to making my first SS wick and getting the RA tank setup and FINALLY found the TRUE taste of Bobas Bounty using the RA tank with a SS wick.

Now I come over to check this thread out and you guys are using a " line " with Silica ! hahaha... I havent tried a line yet but have been wanting to. I heard so much about SS being so much cleaner and bringing out the true flavor of the juice. This RA tank with SS is beating the hell out of my V 2.5 Vivi Novas thats for certain.

MWA... I went to YouTube to check out the best way to make and oxidize a SS wick and the guy gave you credit for a double SS wick setup. One inside the other. Will that work with an RA tank ?

Great... now Im off to buy a LINE.... thanks !.... lol

The Dual wick will work on just about anything MDO1265 ,,,,, let it be known I have a love hate relationship with Genesis style Atty's. Though they bring out a different flavor by using SS mesh wick, SS Mesh wick and Genesis Atty's are not my favorite style of vaping, though I have owned a ton of them, and still have quite a few set up I still vape using HH-357 Style Atty's,, RBA Atty's, Genesis Atty's, and am constantly rotating between all of these. If I had to pick just one it would probably be my 357 & Fatty v2 RBA Atty to vape from, they net me a much thicker vapor and with lots of flavor, but I like having many different set ups going all at once and rotating through a bunch of different flavors,, I dont have one ultimate set up simply because there isn't one, there all good in there own way :)

I respect your opinion on a silica wick on a line, enjoy, I have a V1 line, 2 V2 lines, 1 SS line and 27 cheap lines, I really thought that was it, nothing better than a line with SS wick, now I also have 4 new viva genesis type converted to SS genesis wick, and non of them are better than the vivi nova with the double cotton wick IMO. As they say variety is the spice of life and this is fun. I vape to hard and too hot for cotton on a line, two and a half years ago I went to the hospital thinking I had throat cancer and they found silica in my throat, that was before SS wicks so I continued using silica with a filter in the mouthpiece. When SS wicks came out I changed to SS and would never go back, finding silica in the biopsy was actually better than cancer but still scary.
I still use a filter on all my mouth pieces no matter what wick. A small piece of analog filter.

WOW BJ43, very very interesting information there you just put out, can you elaborate on exactly what you use to use that you think this Silica in the throat came from ?Atty type please ? I like the idea of a filter too, you just gave me an interesting idea for a drip tip too thank you. I'd like to here more on what you use to vape with that gave you the Silica in the throat, and where you vaping HV at that time too. I make sure my Silica is soaking wet all the time when I vape, and use mostly feeder type Mods ( Reo's)

On a 2nd note I just got a 3ml & 5ml pair of Cobra Genesis units, cant wait to see these = COBRA list they are made from Titanium, and set up to use dual SS Mesh wicks if you desire, or which ever type of wick you want I guess. Nothing was held back on the machining of these suckers. Genesis units aren't my favorite but there nice to have in the vaping arsenal :)

The other thing to note is that folks often speak of silica/wick/rope as if it's all identical, it's not. Are all pizzas the same?

Interesting you brought this up Willie,, I made a post about 2 weeks ago asking about just this ( Different Silica's ) and not one person replied to my post. I notice when I purchased a few different times with Silica that there was some differences in the Silica's. For example, the Silica that say Bruce at COV sells is a bright white, and tightly strung together,,, then I got some from Cisco at Avid vapor and it seems to have an off color tint to it and it shinier and looser wound together, and looks different, much shinier too.

I would love to know the spec differences in these two silica's, make me think the one that is from Avid has more of a fiber/glass to it, but I cant say for sure.

Very true WillyB my problem came from dripping on regular attys. I then went to bonuts and a filter and never had a problem again.

Kind of surprised your the ONLY one I have ever heard of having this problem with Silica caught in your throat, especially with all the vapors out there you would think there would be thousands BJ43 considering there are over 2.5 million vapors in the USA alone ? Kind if strikes me as odd.

@ BJ43, I'm curious, do you have any kind of medical reports that show this Silica in the throat thing, I would love to read the Dr's write up on this BJ43 ???
Dominican DR said it looked like fiberglass, no real analysis, they were more into checking for cancer because of 50 years as a chain smoker. Dr. my brotherinlaw and a throat specialist. It wasn't until months after that I concluded it was from a atty, when I took my first atty apart. At the time I didn't know what the wick was. The first two years at this my only modding was tire valve PTs and simple box mods, never on the attys, I even thought for a while it was from the filler in the cart as all I could see down in the atty looked like steel wool. After that I started using SS wool in the carts. My brotherinlaw insisted it was fiberglass because he has always seen me working on my boats and airplanes but I knew it had been over a year that I had not laid any glass cloth. Months later I showed my brotherinlaw a atty wick and he concurred that it looked the same.
