respiratory therapists...yes the ones who give neb treatments, suction trach's and manage ventilators and intubate etc, are the biggest smokers, and i should know cuz i have worked as a medical professional for almost two decades and at MANY hospitals.
what people just dont understand, the work can be very stressful. when i worked for years in Emergency Medicine, i was smoking in the ambulance bay every change i got between traumas/codes.

LoL Respiratory therapists ARE the worst for being smokers, followed up immediately by nurses and nursing assistants :D True facts!

The best part about quitting so far for me has been not having to sit next to patients and smell so awful. Knowing I have a much lower chance of dying a horrible drowning death from COPD or CHF which I've seen so many times since joining Hospice. And having my god-daughters run up and give me a hug now that "Uncle Mikey" doesn't smell awful :)

OP: Great thread, and hopefully it keeps getting bumped for all the newbie's to consider :) Great idea posting in New Members :thumb:

No more Yellow appliances and mini blinds - all of mine are white so you can imagine what smoking analogs did to those.

Being able to ride with friends in thier big rigs and vape - 6-8 hours non stop driving is normal and it's rude to ask them to stop so I can get out and smoke- no more, I can vape in the cab now.

No ashes in my keyboard, less computer screen cleaning, no yellow haze on the TV screen.

No more stale smoke smell in my home or dirty ashtrays to wash.

What a wonderful thread!

I can shop now (I am a major label reader and comparison shopper) and not get more and more stressed as time passes...I just vape and relax.

I can now fly without planning and prep. I vaped in the airports and I vaped on the plane. Smooth sailing.

I don't have to buy 1000 lighters a week because I kept losing them. (ok, maybe not 1000 :)

I think I may have disappointed my sales clerk at my local shop, I don't stop by there every day for a pack of smokes. I think he was flirting with me.

I don't have to worry about being in a new place and wondering where the closest convenience store is.

I can rent a car and not get dinged for smoking in it.

I can vape at work. In fact, I am more productive, I am not planning on rushing through my breaks 2mins walking to smoke shack, 7 mins to smoke, 2 mins back, bathroom, washup...now I just hang out at my desk and my lunch breaks, I eat, I can read, and vape, and not be rushed.

I think I may be sleeping better.

I can walk to work...someone mentioned that "heavy" feeling they got from smoking....oh man, that was the WORST FEELING IN THE WORLD! I can now take a deep breath.

My doctor...well, he didn't seem impressed (kinda bummed me out) but you know what? I don't give a crap. I am the one I need to impress, not him.

My hair is cleaner (I only use conditioner, Suave rosemary mint for the lady who asked) 2 days later, my hair is still clean.

My breath is fresher...lol, I vape a lemony menthol kinda of mix right now, and it is lovely.

This is only a month or some in. I expect more changes to become apparent as time goes on and my body detoxes all this poison out of my body, I am looking at the pimples as milestones :) . I haven't gained any weight, in fact, I think I have lost a little more, as I walk more and can get on some nice paces now without struggling to breathe.

My cat doesn't wince and curl her lip at me anymore when she comes up for pets after I have been outside smoking.

I love vaping in bed.

I am so glad to have gotten away from those evil smokes. I beat them my own way, and I am loving every minute of it.

All the new online stores I get to shop at...omg, the flavors....oh, the flavors without that burnt tobacco flavor masking it all.

I got my son on vaping too...he is also commenting on being able to breathe better, too. Yay vaping!

Here's the main one for me.

No more people telling me I should quit smoking!

I already have, so *%^ off!

Oh and, no more lighting a fresh cig and setting in the ashtray, turning to the computer to work, then finding ten minutes later that it's already ash and I barely even touched it. Argh! Light up another one...... !

mac

OK.. but now I have people asking me when I'm gonna put this down! OK give me a break I've only been doin this for 2 months now!

I'm discovering this too.

People generally have little sympathy/understanding for nicotine addiction. They can see the cigarettes/tobacco, but they can't see what happens in your brain at a chemical level.

I put down cigarettes. Fine, congratulations. I find alternate methods of obtaining nicotine without tobacco and I get "What's the point of that?" and "So how long do you have to do that for?"

One thing at a time people.

I've got another one!
Anybody ever pulled the skin off their lips because the cigarette stuck to it? Haven't had that problem since I started vaping! Sunday will be a month with no analogs for me! Let's pray the government doesn't screw this up for us!

I truly hated when that happened.

IMO, If we want to keep vaping, we have to let government find a way to tax out cartos and juice - anything that contains nicotine. In the end it's about money, at least in the USA it is.

I think if it were taxed, some of the major cigarette amnufactuers would make and sell out supplies at the same retailers they sell cigarettes, which would be good for all of us, cig companies and the government. Okay we pay taxes on it but, we have it and the government won't take it, or cig makers fight to get it banned.

There are too many benifits, easier, better things vs analogs to lose e cigs now.

Well if this happens, you can kiss your favorite flavors goodbye. It will be tobacco and menthol only. Just like clove cigs and any other flavors are outlawed now.
