So, after getting blisters on my thumbs from using the top ridge for leverage, I decided enough was enough and tried removing the spring. I broke the screw off trying to remove it. Why would they glue that screw? ...... me off like you cannot imagine.

Yah, it's really lame. Vapor Tek USA sells the bottom button with no glue, if you want to replace it. I was sort of getting used to the button, but I just got a Nemesis two days ago and found out what a button should really be like. I have to say the 8w hits just as hard, so it's worth sorting out the button.

Oh and I know I'm making a THIRD post instead of editing, but I figure I post up my 8W in it's super budget form. Cheap drip tip, Smoktech RSST.

I just couldn't wait to use it, so I just put it together with random things.

It's a great mod for the price! Gonna polish it up, and install the #19 Nzonic top cap on it to make it shorter and change out the RSST to something else and a new shiny drip tip.

That's the ideal budget setup, IMHO. I'm using the RSST on one of my #8ws now and it works extremely well. Looking forward to seeing yours with the #19 cap.

You know, I just had the airhole bored out a bit bigger and it's so much better! I'm really liking the RSST.

Hopefully I get the cap next week. I was actually looking for the Fusion SG-1 kit but it's out of stock.

Are you guys using ss mesh with the rsst? There is a bit of a panic going on about chromium IV or something coming from oxidizing the mesh. I learned about this AFTER switching to mesh.

Well guys and gals, I received my replacement 8W switch from Vapor Tech yesterday (the one with no glue), and immediately took it apart so easily. Everything worked great. Even though the spring that came inside the new 8W switch was somewhat easier to operate, I cut off one coil and magic happened. The switch works like butter and it still will stand upright without firing. Now this little Caravella Clone is just about perfect and I previously ordered the second 18650 tube, so I am all set.

I read that chromium will only be emitted from SS when heated well over temperatures used for oxidizing. 800 f, I think. Some people tend to exaggerate the worst case into the common case. The same happened with the California Senate Health Board. The proponent of the bill to make e-cigs exactly the same as analogues cited heavy metal as the potential health risk. In reality those are only in trace amounts and not enough to be harmful. That testimony was also given, but the panel pushed the bill forward anyway, defying science and logic.

I am using SS mesh with my RSST and all my gennies

Question on "Tacky Factor

I have worked on a Photoshop image of the Caravella Logo shown below. I was thinking of having it laser etched on my 8W but then I have conflicting thoughts about this. Tacky? or Replica? When someone builds a replica car like the Ford Cobra, nothing is ever mentioned about it being tacky, just a tribute to a fine automobile. When China attempts to replicate a mod, it is immediately labeled a "clone" like this is something to be shunned. I think of my 8W as a replica more than a clone and as a tribute to the Caravella. I would not even think about claiming it was genuine or attempt to order more and sell them as such. I have a lot of other ideas of what to etch on the 8W also. I found that most "trophy" shops that do etching can and will do this for about $10.00.

I personally find incorrect badges on late model muscle cars tacky. If it were my car, I'd rather have the original badges or, if it's a frankenstein, just left generic. I guess I feel the same way about mods. I wouldn't feel right having the Caravela engraving on anything but the genuine article. I understand the temptation, as I'll very likely never have a Caravela - at least not the 18xxx models.

I also think the #8w tubes may be chrome plated. It just doesn't look like the SS material on my Ba Gua or Nemesis. Not sure how well etching would work on the #8w.
