It has not been a good week, but according to Linda, I have turned into a giant baby needing attention or something all the time. From her false accusations, it sounded like she was accusing me of milking the situation. ;)

Keep milking it, grover  I do that to my partner EVERY time I have an injury -- even a itty bitty injury. It helps when said partner is a nurse too

Afternoon, peeps! Can I get some advice regarding my istick 30W? I've only had it for a few day and I REALLY like it. BUT, I don't like the steel tip. Is there somewhere I can buy a different tip? The tip keeps clanking on my front teeth . My front teeth -- gotta keep 'em. Any advice on other tips and where I can purchase them?

tanks!
What kind of tank do you have on your istick, Dahomey? There are tons of choices, what material do you prefer?
Here's one that's top of the line: http://www.molehillmountainartdriptips.com/index.html
Another with big selection: http://101vape.com/16-drip-tips
Most choices probably here: http://www.madvapes.com/pv-parts/dripper-tips/510-808-901.html

Sorry that I didn't include what tank I have, Nanny, I'm using a Nautilus mini. Thanks for the links. I prefer something softer, something I can gently bite down on. On my way to the links you posted.

rebuilt the Smok RDA.. 1.36 ohms on the meter, but read 1.2 on the 30w iStick.

1.36ohms.jpg

I test fired, glows from the inside out and evenly, squished the coils together a little, looks great.. wick it, juice it up.. and wouldn't you know.. POOF! same as last time after about 3 seconds.

this has me concerned as a possible culprit..

ETA: rewicked with cotton instead of rayon, and no issues. cautiously enjoying Sure Bert!

Linking over from the Atlanta Beta thread (don't judge me . . .)

Ok, so, I've tried spaced coils in two Aqua's with two known gunkers (Radio and Virus). I made Radio a 28 g 8 wrap, Virus a 29 g 8 wrap, turned them on the Gizmo, which made them contact coils by default, but then took the 1 mm mandrel and turned it through while the coil was still on the 2.4 mm mandrel to space them quite nicely. Why not use a screw, you ask? On the Aqua's, one of the posts is higher than the other, and I'm OCD enough to wrap the coil pairs in reverse crank rotation, to make the high end of each coil match the high post.

After wrapping and spacing, I squeezed one time (coils were too wide), and they were just right. Mounted, wicked with Rayon, thinned tails into the channels, just like you should.

Observations are: Spaced coils are easier on wicking than contact coils. I expect it has to be due to heat density, cooking an amount of wick volume with an amount of heat, spaced coils vastly increases the wick volume and decreases that ratio. The radio wick is quite dark, but by now (4 tanks) with a spaced coil, would be plugged and burned through, the Virus wick was good as new after 2 tanks, prettly clean looking. However, I do have to increase watts by about 20% to get the same vape, that thing about contact coil cooking efficiency is quite real. If you don't mind cleaning and re-wicking, I'd go with contact coils and less battery charging. If you have *cough* 4 dual battery mods, you seriously can cut your work time with spaced coils.

Tomorrow is space the coils on Atlanta and Frenilla day.

Thanks Megan! I guess this is the powers that be's way of telling me I shouldn't be messing with it anyway. It's here somewhere and will turn up when I least expect it. :)

Are you just a bit stressed my dear? LOL. You have been through a lot lately and I can't help but think your stress levels are off the dial right now. At least for me, I lose things all the time when I am stressed. Just spent about 30 minutes looking for my Atlantis. I washed most of my tanks the other day and this is the only one I couldn't find now. Gave up. Just sat here vaping the Reo and playing online.

All of a sudden *flash* a thought pops into my poor addled pate: check your purse you dummy! I had expected my KBox to be delivered a few days ago but it was delayed. I had put the Atlantis, a bottle of juice and two fresh batteries in my purse so I could set it up while I was visiting mom. But it wasn't in the mailbox! Forgot all about having it in my purse. So, I have found the Atlantis, now you will find your base. Sending relaxing thoughts and good 'find the lost things' ju ju to you!

Found my base!!! It was in a spot that I never dreamed of looking... my work shoe! I had to check the ohms before I left though..,1.6. Yeah baby!!!

I think someone is looking after you. This is too strange. When I was in college, I lost a lighter that has sentimental meaning for me. I gave up on it. I even moved from one dorm room to another and never found it. One day, a month or so later, the roommate and I were taking advantage of no classes to get an afternoon nap. She was in the top bunk bed, so I would have known if she had gotten down. The door was locked. We were on the third floor...no window access unless you were a monkey. I got up from my nap and the lighter was sitting all by itself on my desk. So, where did it come from??? Don't have a clue.

Yeah, I am not having one of my better weeks. Broke my leg, now have a 101.5 fever. You'd think I live in snow country and slipped on ice and got sick due to the weather. Plus, why would I go back to bed when I just got out of bed?

If this might be the flu, quick, go to the doctor. There is effective med for it if you get it in the first 48-72 hours.

Linda has the fight of her life trying to get me to go to the Dr. glow. I have an appointment on March 4th to have some radioactive liquid injected into me so they can check my heart valves. This is the same day Grrrr is coming by the house to drop off the SVA. Linda doesn't know it yet, but I'm considering not showing up and meeting Grrrr at the front door instead.

Okay my lovelies, I'm moving this extremely wonderful conversation because I just realized this wasn't the Virtual Vapemeet thread. Since really every thread is a virtual vapemeet, but in case anyone actually needs some help with their gear I thought I'd clean it up. Now please do continua this conversation because I have a very funny tale to share....

I've read/heard in other threads that people clean atomizer heads by soaking them in Vodka. I have some Aspire Nautilus coils that I'm thinking of cleaning. In your opinion, does the vodka cleansing work? Or, should I just discard them (although that will become rather expensive in the long haul). I have a coil soaking right now but I didn't use Everclear vodka. I used the regular 80 proof vodka I found in the cupboard.

Thanks!

I soak mine in Smirnoff Dahomey. It does clean them, but they are not like new. Don't forget to let them dry for 24 hours before using them. Well, I let them dry 24 hours.

No worries guys, I helped too, just forgot we weren't in the vapmeet thread. No harm no foul for everyone. Please do continue with the fun, it's really a great run of conversations!! :) :thumb:

You can try this. What I used to do before learning to rebuild my ProTank heads was soak them in boiled water for and hour or so, would then rinse them and stick them in a jar with vodka overnight. It's worth a try...

That's exactly how I do my nautilus coils. I did it with some expensive Russian vodka that the ex bf left behind. I bought a small bottle of Everclear when the vodka ran out. It helps to extend the coils a bit.

Thank you for the tip Megan. I will try this instead of just soaking them.

Dahomey, I've tried all the common methods (alcohol, boiling hot water, ultra sonic cleaners, etc) to clean the bvc coils, without much success. I know this isn't much help, but maybe someone will come up with a new method and share it with us....
