Probably posted this in the wrong thread. In case I get busted, will ask here: I'm breaking out the new Wakonda in the morning. Any suggestions for heat? I'll be using a 1ohm coil, and can go to 20 watts on a P3 or 40 watts on a Hana. Toppers can be KFL+, Ruzgar (but I don't like it), Subtank mini or Erl. Thanks!

I always vape the Sacred Vapor Reo #2 with a 0.7 ohm coil. With a fresh battery @ 4.2 volts, this puts me at 25 watts. Threw a bunch of different builds at Wakonda and this is the sweet spot for me.

With that being said and if I where using a VW device with a one ohm coil, I would start off at about 12 watts and bump up from there until the flavor went off and then just bump back a few watts. The bump and run method is a great way to experience the flavor changes in any given juice....;)

You're a watt higher than I've ever gone... Just that a couple of folks have suggested very high heat for some juices - higher than any mod I own can deliver! I usually start at 10 watts and work up. If Wakonda likes a little more heat, I'll start higher. I'm an impatient little bird!
Adding to my previous comments.....
Really depends my advice was based on the Erl and 1.0 ohm coil on my Magma with a .5 dual coil I would probably be 25-30watts. The coil ohms, air flow ,and what you are using for a topper really have a lot to do with it. In other words people that are doing really high wattages are doing set ups that work well with that.

I usually run Wakonda 12.5 to 13 watts with the nautilus mini, and 18.5 - 21 watts in the ST mini with 0.6 Ohm on RBA.

So when I was using a regulated mod, I found that the tobacco to be much more forward at 15 watts and above. I'm running a .4 ohm coil that is pushing out around 25 watts average after the drop off and the flavors are really well rounded at that level...

I know that doesn't address your issue exactly, but I'm saying you have room to play with on your upper 20 w end if your atty can take the heat...

NPL brings up an excellent point. Airflow can be the limiting factor with almost any tight draw RTA typed device. In fact, I still have 5 Kayfuns and all of them have been punched out to receive more air. With a high airflow topper such as the SubTanks however, this should not be a problem at all.

Edit: Brother Soignee nailed it as well. How the hell you been Bob? :)

Times been tough...things are coming together slowly though John...I'm comfortable enough to start hanging again!

Chris gave me some guidelines to follow for building a coil for the Lemo Drop. 30 gauge Kanthal, 5 wraps on a 2mm screwdriver gave me 1.4 ohms(I was shooting for 1.2), wicked it like Partspro had in his picture, filled it up with some Altered State, hitting like a champ! Thanks Chris!!

Sweet!

Glad to hear you got it working Lynn. I personally don't like any wire thinner than 28, I just find it a PIA to work with. Especially when I am really trying to get as much Rayon as I can in it.
The wicking method I showed, results in the same type of wick that Soignee posted, but my method gives more consistent results than the "bunny ears" method. Depending on the length or hight of the coil, your wick might end up not touching the deck at all, or plugging the juice channels

The 30 gauge was much easier to get to stay under the posts. Yesterday, I built coils and they looked pretty, registered good on the ohm's meter and as soon as I wicked it the leg would come out from under the screw even though I could have sworn the screws were as tight as I could get them.

I have seen people having the same trouble with the wire popping out. I use 27 on almost everything now and never have an issue. Make sure you are going clockwise around the screw with the wire, and use a screwdriver that fits the screw well, like a jeweler's screwdriver. I will post a pic next time I have to replace a coil.

I still wouldn't trust it in my pocket. Your tank is likely mostly full. As long as both liquid channels are covered with liquid, it won't flood or leak. Once one channel becomes open to the atmosphere, the liquid will find its own level and the chamber will fill with juice.
The Aqua is the closest thing I have found to leak resistant so far.....

I'm going to try it at work tomorrow. If I fill it before I leave home it's usually half full when I get home. I can always take another tank with me and if the Drop leaks I can take it off and store it in my lunch bag.

Partspro, I took the drop with me to work...in my pocket all day and not a drop leaked out! Not one drop!! Thank you!!

Thanks to all of you for your help!! I'm loving this tank now!!

Persistence pays off ...:) A lot of the equipment we use takes a little trial and error to get right. The problem is, a lot of folks these day's don't have the time or the patience to get to know things very well.

Very proud of you my sweet! :thumb:
