Pretty funny how we all try modding everything to try and get that peak performance vape out of all this stuff. I went a bit in a different direction with my 3ml Phoenix just now and unlike just notching the bottom slots and also slots on the bottom of the center poll to make the whole opening bigger like I did when they first came out and removing wick, this time I did the same notching the bottom where the wick comes out and also the bottom of the center post where the wicks are on each side but just enough to fit a piece of the 2mm Wick in the slot on the bottom of the center poll and placed a 2-1/2 piece of the 2mm wick and laid it across the coil and bent it upwards into the tank. This set up is putting out plumes of vapor with great flavor. I have no leaking so far this way either, that extra wick coming up into the tank and going down into the chamber where the coil is lets in just the right amount of liquid this way. :)

These things work dam good on an Ego with the PWM too

Also with the black sleeve off, when you put your finger over one of the air vent holes and take a pull it brings extra liquid to the coil, which creates more flavor when you need it.

Now put a piece of the 2mm wick in that slot 2-1/2" long, across the coil and bend what hangs out on either side upward into the tank.

This vapes like a Locomotive with great flavor, and like I said if you want or need more flavor just put your finger over one of the air holes and take a pull, this brings even more liquid to the coil, its not needed but is a nice extra once in a while :)

Interesting stuff mwa, for the this is proof positive that the universe just doesn't make sense

We're both high VG users (correct me if I'm wrong) and I did this same exact thing on my first day with the phoenix XL, and lets just say it didn't go so well lol :)

i realize its a balance between wick/wick slot size so maybe I didn't have enough slot when I overlaid the second wick
glad its working for you

I tried my ego cones and could fit them, but when I screwed them onto the battery it totally cut off the airflow, just too tight.

Too bad, it would have made them look a lot more finished. The phoenix works awesome but looks cheesy without a cone.
Tina - if you don't want to or are not able to widen the diameter on the small end of your cone, see my post, #1031 page 104 - these cones are absolutely perfect on the Phoenix 1.5 - they leave just enough space for great airflow.

Been getting some random, no warning, no apparent cause full on floods on one of my phoenix, regardless of juice or top seal

I must say, I love these things when they work. The flavor may even beat out my favorite fluxos. (The confound here is most of my fluxos in rotation are new and not seasoned yet, so I dunno yet)

That said, at least when a fluxo fails, it doesn't try to assassinate your .......ed electronics at the same time lol ......!

not sure what is going on with yours , i have used so many phoenixs in the last few weeks and not one leak out and thats with many refills and cleaning on each.

i got in inner plug seals for the xl phoenix so people can start asking for those and ill get them also for the 3ml so when people wear out the inner plug they easily pop in a new one.

My very limited experience,

One of my 3 Phoenix tanks leaked enough to kill an auto eGo 1100 mAh batt.

One of my Phoenix XL does not wick properly - plenty of hot hits from that one

Another of my Phoenix XL's died when on the second refill.

If it weren't for so, so, so many people having a positive experience with them, from my small sample I'd have to think about ordering more. For my working ones, they are pretty good.

(I don't like the rubber tip, I can taste the rubber with some of my flavors. I don't like that only one tip is provided, I don't like that other tips can't be used. If any changes are made, I'd like to see alternatives to the rubber tip.)

on the xl & 3ml you can use any drip tip oh i forgot to mention i did have one die very early and the wick area looked weird, but this should all be watched even more carefully for us in our new order with the dry cartos

bad I'm not sure either, its just that one that alternates between perfect and a biblical flood

I thought it was the seal but I've been rotating seals and that doesn't seem to be it

The only other thing I can think of is on the last two floods I had the top seal pressed down really hard, not sure if that could work the magic to cause a flood but who knows

And the one where I pulled the wick out and ran a thick (yeah I don't get it either, I'm always praising thin wicks) piece of cotton yarn through as a substitute coil is hands down a beast

I have 6 XL's, and one of them I can't use because it dumps almost immediately, after losing 3 fills I gave up on it. I can't figure out why. The rest are fine. I had spare tips from some "bargain" "Stardusts" that were a total loss because they all taste burned (so much for saving $1 each) and they fit, so I'm using those.

One of my 2 Phoenix tanks has a slightly burned taste, tried two different juices and neither taste as good as a Stardust. The other works perfectly but I find I have to do a slow, long draw, slower than normal, to get the best vapor.

yeah its a pain. the physics of these things is such that a slight change in the pressure via an imperfection of the tube/seals will be enough to cause a flood, so we'll likely never figure it out

i was bragging about the xl version to a friend of mine and gave them 2 xl's. i loaded one of them up and it didnt vape good at all (same juice as ive always used on other xl's.

i opened it up and saw that on both of them the coil was nowhere near horizontal, to the point that one of the wick ends on both xl's was in the cup (nothing was sticking out of the wick hole into the tube).
the QC obviously isnt what its supposed to be. can i lift the coil up(to make it level) without pulling it from its connection?
looks pretty tight in there...

Couple of things I've noted regarding the rare case of juice dump.

If the drip tip is a tight fit, with time the tube will expand and since the top seal is just below the top, an random air leak can occur. I've changed my o-rings to a smaller #60 size and they fit just right now.

When inserting the fill needle after the first time, try to gently wiggle the needle in so as not to enlarge the opening. You can tell when the needle finds the same hole that was created on the initial fill and it slips right in with little forward pressure.

Finally, a good way to check for air leaks is while the needle is still in after filling, pull some juice back out. If there is any air leak around the seal, bubbles will give it away. No bubbles, then push the juice back in till full knowing the seal is good.

Edited to add: In keeping with the theme of preserving the longevity of the top seal, rather than pull the plug out to clean, I prefer to remove the tube leaving the plug usually undisturbed.

The coils on these things are rugged. I've been spoiled by that clean atty taste and have been cleaning/dry-burning every other tank. I've lost count by how many times my Boba's Pheonix's have been cleaned now. 20?

I think I may have messed that XL up with a larger gauge needle. The one that came with XL's was too short to reach the juice in the bottle, so I pulled out a longer one and may have enlarged the hole.
