I just tried my last one out of the first pack trimmed wicks cleaned and dry burned put in RY4 last night and just left it all night and all day and the first vape @3.7v tasted awful it had almost a chemical and metallic taste to it same taste we have been getting from cartos we have in tanks

Pretty much the same problem. The first one I used was fantastic for 2 fills, then it started producing a horrible, metallic, perfumy taste. Took it apart, cleaned it out, no change. Tried a 2nd one but had that taste from the start. Puffed through half the tank, washed it, and it still has a horrid metallic taste. Tried a 3rd one and it seems fine after half a tank, we'll see how long it lasts though.

Think I'm gonna stick to Stardusts.

I really think people are pinching the wick by pushing the stem down when they insert the needle to fill.

mine is wicking just fine plenty of air bubbles coming up the main thing I believe is the airflow it is way too airy of a draw when I used the ego cone it helped and I can hold my fingers around the top of the cone to block some of the air and it improves it a great deal

Ah, this is going to sound abysmally stupid - but how do you refill these? Just vape it most of the way down, turn it upside down and stick a needle in there? Won't the remainder of the juice, however small, screw up the vacuume-thingie?

If it's upside down... The remainder of the juice flows to the seal. If there is any stuck between the wide part of the stem it just gets pushed through the wick... So, yes, you hold them upside down insert the needle through the hole in the seal and fill.

Think I figured out why some of these are fantastic, and some not at all. I have two packs of the 1.5ml, a 2.4-2.6 ohm, and a 2.6.2-8 ohm. Out of the 2.6ohm two of the three I've used have not wicked well at all. Burned metallic taste and harsh on the throat that is only fixed by squeezing he tube to manually force juice to the coil. Flush trimmed the wicks, but this only helped marginally. One however is a vaping beast after trimming the wicks flush.

In the other pack, the 2.4-2.6 ohm ones, both of the ones I've used have been perfect. In fact perfect is an understatement. Hands down the best carto I have ever used. And I've tried most everything out there.

The ones that do not work well have one thing in common. The wick is either pushed well down toward the bottom of the cup, and or not in line with the holes. All of the ones that work great also have one thing in common. The wick is aligned straight with the opening and is near the top of the cup. All of the wicks in one pack look almost identical with the wick being aligned straight across the cup near the top. The other pack, only two are this way.

If y'all have a mixed bag like I do, take a look and see if that is the case with yours.

I haven't tried to straighten and pull up the wicks on the dregs yet. I want to take some pics tomorrow with a camera that can do good close ups before I mess with them.

I'll check that. Looking at it it doesn't seem like the wick is pinched. I'll take it apart later and make double sure though.

Checked the first one. Went to fluff up the wick and it popped out in 2 pieces :/ The middle of it was completely black. My guess is I likely fired it at way too high a voltage (my only 510 is a LT) and fried some juice on there for a good long while. Gonna see if I can find an adapter that'll let me use them on my 808s (the one I have doesn't work) where I won't run that risk and see how they do there until/unless GV gets these in 808s.

The second one, the coil was twisted a bit. I recentered it, trimmed the wicks, and have it soaking in some vodka to clear out the cinnamony juice I'd put in there. The wick looks fine in that one, the twisted coil was likely pinching it a bit though. We'll see how it goes when I put it back together tomorrow.

Edit: Put the other one back together this morning after straightening the coil and leveling the wick. On my 3rd fill and it's still working great.

Sparky, I use a ring I cut from a condom to adjust the airflow For the ones I find airy.

Thank you, Deadguy, for taking pity on me. It's late, and I had a looooong day, my dog is ...... at me, and the juice in my Phoenix was running out - thus the brain, eh... gassiness. :D

Much obliged.

its funny that tank tube and the top seal actually comes from the tube that held the first disposable e cig I bought from the mall kiosk. so far so good, and it looks more legit than a syringe tank. who knows what its made out of though lol

the other two plugs are beveled washers from home depot, I bought 3 different sizes that all seem to work well in different tubes/syringes

I decided to fix 1 of the two problem children by pulling up and aligning the wick to correct the pinched wick syndrome. Mission accomplished. Now that I know what to look for, and that there is a reasonable chance of correcting the mis-formed coil/wicks which I'll now do before even filling from now on, it's game over. This is the one and only carto that the wife and I will use going forward.

Based on the 10 I have, 40% malformed coil/wick is a problem that I hope the manufacturer takes notice of. Not everyone is willing, or should be willing to have to fiddle with these to make them work at their best.

That seems to be my problem too. The three I opened are all sunk in down past the holes. I just figured it was part of the design. Next time I clean I will try pull them up and maybe I wont have to squeeze the tube to get that awesome hit.

I have the higher ohm ones for both packs too

Interesting. Really hope others chime in after looking at how the wick is placed both for the ones that work well, and not so well. I'd expect really thin juices to be less affected.

A little below the holes doesn't appear to be a problem. What is, is when the wick is so far down, and or twisted to the side that it creates a sharp bend.
