i was using a sharp needle on my first one and after maybe a dozen fills it started to not hold the vacuum. repeated skewering of the fill hole swiss cheesed it i think. if i stick with the one it came with no problems...

You may be right. My idea sounds good in theory, but then again, I've only refilled mine about 6 times (each).
Of course, I'm very careful to hit the hole just right...

Fwiw I fill with a pointed needle also. Just makes sense to me that a very small puncture is better than punching out a hole with a blunt tip needle. Of course one has to be careful to hit the hole just right.

Boy, we sure can have fun with that one !!!!
Iv'e been using a sharp needle thus far with no issues, but I've only refilled a half dozen times.

The more I play with the Phoenix's, the more I like em'. One of the ones I had, finally lost it's vape (RY4). So I took it apart, gave it the old "Everclear, dryburn, rinse, prime" treatment, and she hits just like new..

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh mwa.....I love the pics!!! I used to work with dolphins and sea lions, and studied whales for years, so I am crazy about marine mammals. My dream one day is to go to Maui/Lahaina when the humpbacks are there. Then an Alaskan cruise to see Orcas, Grays and hopefully Narwhals.

I too had been wondering if you could refill the phoenix's before they were completely empty, but making sure that the needle stays in the liquid seems to make perfect sense.

Another thread a couple of folks were saying to be sure you DON'T use sharp needles. I didn't ask, but I do expect that had to do with the fact that perhaps they punctured additional holes.

My understanding was, from what Bad was saying, that the hole is pre-made, and that there is a small "flipper" on the bottom of it? If so, a sharp needle would damage it and/or enlarge the hole, in which case vacuum could be lost. I actually did do it with a sharp needle, and, in fact, am sure that I punched a new hole in there, because I couldn't thread it through the existing hole and lost patience. :D

And it did leak on me, eventually, but not badly. I also mutilated those seals with the sharp dental pick getting them out - again, no patience. I'm pretty amazed I didn't get dumped on catastrophically. LOL

However, just to make all of us seal-mutilators feel better, Bad did promise to have those seals sold separately.

If anyone is looking to buy needles and syringes I got mine from here:

Needles

They have 20 guage

I use a longer needle to draw my juice up into my 12 ML/cc syringe and then install the blunt needle that comes with the Phx to fill so there is no need to go out and buy blunt needles. Syringes are great to use for DIY mixing too

Yep went to mine awhile back and was looking for blunt tip needles and the lady pharmacist was not wanting to give me anything. Finally told me to come back with a prescription.
Are you in Cali? I think that might just be a Cali thing, because they wouldn't sell me any either. They said it was against the law, unless you're a diabetic with a prescription...I think eBay has them though.
