Well I chatted with one of the employees I guess. They had a chat option and the chat was interesting to say the least.

Wonka:
Hi Brian
Wonka:
No, there are no samples included
Wonka:
it's complicated, but we can't sell product that way
Brian:
ah okay then I wanted to make sure before I ordered
Wonka:
no problem!
Brian:
How much would you say each pod equals to a cigarette?
Wonka:
the tobacco pods have relatively low nicotine
Wonka:
about equal to an ultralight cigarette
Wonka:
but they last longer, about 10 minutes if you puff like a cig
Brian:
hmmm interesting thank you I may have to try this product
Brian:
I am an avid e-cigarette user
Wonka:
well, you'll probably like this
Wonka:
a much richer experience than ecig
Wonka:
what sort of ecig flavors do you like?
Brian:
I usually go with something sweet tasting like their cola's
Wonka:
ok
Wonka:
you might like gold or peach then
Wonka:
(orchard)
Wonka:
orchardis quite sweet
Brian:
hmmm thank you very much I will have to try this tomomrow when my check is deposited
Wonka:
ok, thanks for stopping by
Wonka:
ciao

For those of you who have managed to order one of these... How? I have checked daily ever since the first post about this thing, and I have never had it actually be available. It always says "Coming Soon". Just curious as I would love to try this thing.

I didn't order it. The OP in this here thread (since moved on from ECF, aka banned) got an email allowing him access to buy one. He offered it up for grabs and I grabbed. So, it requires an invite from them to be able to get one. No word on when it will be officially released.

It wouldn't work with an atomizer since its heated by parabolic heat and the burnt fuel would need to be isolated from inhaling and exhausted elsewhere.....

I'm sure down the road we'll see modders coming up with inexpensive DIY builds for this format.

Honestly, as far as the Ploom.... I'm dying for people to start receiving them and confirming whether or not the "pods" can be opened and refilled with our own concoctions.

VapeOn,
Greg

Looks interesting, mainly the part where they are using butane as the heating element, would be interesting if someone could mod that so it would work with a regular ecig atomizer, so instead of charging batteries you could just fill it with butane.

Actually, the butane flame would replace the battery and atty to heat the e-liquid pellet. I love this idea but skeptical..

I'm not skeptical, IF it is just using butane as a heat source, we have butane powered soldering irons(with a metal tip) that are for fine work, For traveling I'd actually prefer this, but not at 5.95 a pellet. PASS.
once I can fill my own though:)
It's $5.95 for 12, not 1. :)

Still kinda pricey though.

Alright, borrowed my mom's CC so I could order one (I don't use credit cards personally). Being that they're in CA, it should arrive by Monday. Shame UPS doesn't deliver on Saturday... ah well, I can wait.

Actually, UPS does deliver on Sat but it has to be shipped specially for Sat and costs extra.

Why use something with tobacco leafs in it. I thought the ideal was to get away from tobacco because it released so many harmful chemicals. So no thank you. I like my 510. I like the vapor. I'll stick with my PV's.

There are already, from what I have been told, a myriad of test done on "vaporizers" that use tobacco and other herbs. From what I have read (little detail and heresy) it is deemed safe. I am not leaning one way or the other and I am not saying this thing is for you. I am just saying I am only as scared of this product as I am about PV's aka e-cigs.

Mr. Nico and I spoke on the phone and he has received and used the device. He states it puts out little vapor but the flavor is A+. While we were talking he mentioned putting in some polyfill into the spent pods and dripping e-liquid inside. I am not sure I would use poly fill but that did get me thinking about using some of this silica fire rope (same as you all use in your current atomizers) because it will not burn. There is definite potential here. Just need to test.

I will post back when I do.

I could be wrong, but I don't think tobacco, in its raw form, is the issue. The big tobacco companies add all kinds of crap to the dried leaves, in their production process, that has all the 400+ chemicals. Said chemicals are for slower burn, better taste, preservation for shelf-life, etc. Of course the smoke in smoking is dangerous enough, but the chemicals make it worse.

Most of those often quoted chamicals in cigarettes are also found in the food we eat. The biggest issues with smoking tobacco products are the tar and the carbon monoxide. There are also some cancer causing compounds but selective temperature control in vaporization ensures the vapour does not contain them. Let's hope the ploom's temperature is well controlled, I would love for somebody to test it out properly as well as the exhaust to ensure that a complete catalytic reaction is occuring. I haven't been able to get a response from them so their customer service is not looking good from here.

From what Nico told me there is hardly any vapor. I can't help but think that it is not getting to combustion temps with this knowledge alone. He shipped it already and gave me tracking. It should be at my home Monday or Tuesday.
