I don't know if it has been reviewed yet, but I like MaddCatt Vapor's RyJ5. I will admit, up front, that I have only had the pleasure of vaping a half dozen Ry4 types and none of them really excited me. I remain enamored with the 'idea' of RY4. This juice however, has become an instant favorite and, even after a couple of weeks, still hits MY sweet spot.
From the website: "MADDHatter RyJ5 -This is RyJ4's darker side. tobacco is Bold while the caramel is light, the sweet is there, but it only whispers."
Their MaddHatter collection uses, what I read as, a signature tobacco base. Like all 'custom' bases, you either love it or hate it. I happen to love this one. The RyJ5, to me, tastes like a smooth "frosted" tobacco. The caramel notes are there, but not dominant. I wouldn't really call this a 'dark' RY4, but it isn't bright. Definitely more of a tobacco vape and not dessert-like. I don't really pick up any vanilla. The TH is almost nonexistent, but I ordered 12mg at 50/50, so I didn't really expect (or want) TH.
As always, YMMV, this is subjective, etc.
Bill, if you would like a sample, I would be more than happy to send you 5 mils.
Thanks for this great thread, I have been lurking here for months.

dcav,

Nice, concise review. I'd love to sample a little MaddCatt MaddHatter RYJ5, add my review to yours, then put it on The Big RY4 List.

Glad to have you as a lurker, but even happier to see you as a poster/reviewer.

My mailing address coming to you via PM.

Further update on my Morley-Waffles Frankenjuice. I tweaked it some more, since I wanted to lower the sticky-lips sweetness of the Waffles. (Very few juices are so sweet that they actually leave my lips feeling sticky, but NLV Waffles does.)

First I upped the Morley by 10%, then I mixed up some straight FlavourArt Burley Tobacco diy juice and added that to the Morley-Waffles mix, making the final ratio roughly 1:1:1 Burley-to-Morley-to-Waffles or thereabouts.

Now it's Burley-Morley-Waffles Franenjuice. It's delicious and has earned a place in my stable of daily vapes. Mmm-Mmm, good!

Well that thing sure deserves the tittle of "frankenjuice"

Btw i wanted to ask you/rest of the people here if they used to smoke pipe tobaco :) or more precise aromatic tobacco, if any of you like that i suggest try epipemods liquids, specially the "shire malt" really true to the pipe experience/aromatic blends with no bite.

roxxette,

My Burley-Morley-Waffles ends up as nothing more exotic than a good, sweetened tobacco blend, like fifty others most of us have tried. In the same vein as Vermillion River's Kentucky Maplewood blend, without quite as much maple flavor.

As for smoking tobacco, I was always a cigarette guy. Along the way of 40 years of that addiction/perverse love affair, I smoked the occasional cigar and had some pipes, but cigs were far and away my mainstay. Started out rolling my own with Three Castles, which was the pick of the Virginia crop bought by the Brits, processed naturally with no chemicals, then reimported into the U.S. in the most beautiful green tins. Ten years of that filled my lungs with tar, so I had to switch to normal American garbage cigarettes. Ultra Lights, no less. As a result, my experience with aromatic tobaccos was minimal. These days, all that seems like another life...

I've read numerous posts on the forums that epipemods' Pipe Sauce liquids are considered really good, but I've never had any.

Rox, I've never smoked a pipe. But I've just tried a liquid that tastes the way aromatic pipe tobacco smells...VapingMad Venetian Gold. Wicked strong and fragrant.

Bill, glad to hear that the tobaffle blends are continuing to inspire you! I've got 9mls of W2V Belgian Breakfast that needs some adulterating (muhahahahaha) :p

Roxette , I smoked (like Bill ) mostly cigs (never ultralights though LOL, many cigars, (still have one on occasion) , and many pipes, mainly smoked "Captain Black" in pipes, I make a DIY that is to my taste "spot on" (based on my memory at least) LOL I even tried chewing /dipping a very tiny bit to get off the cigs, never "warmed up" to either actually. Vaping was the way to go for me (as is the case for so many of us)

BILL Would AC3 be a friend to long lost RAF?

I have been wanting to try Pipe Sauce Just wanting a RY4 from them to try.

I have no doubt that your creation would be superior to all creations thus demolishing all that is below :D

I have a new custom RY4 (new to me, anyway) that's steeping, with another on the way. Soon, passer...

It really is amazing how our taste preferences change/progress the longer we have been off analogs. Just when I think I have found a favorite RY4 (Tribeca the past couple of weeks), I pull out a carto loaded up with Quic Nic Juice RY4 that I have not vaped for 3 weeks or so. Wow, maybe the extra steeping time has toned down the signature base or maybe my taste buds are evolving some more. Now I cannot put it down. 3 weeks ago, Apollo crept up to number 2 just behind BWB's RY4 (would still be number 1 for me if I had more than 2 or 3mls left, now it is relegated to my stash to compare with Don's reformulation whenever it comes out). Tribeca is taking a back seat today, Quic Nic is atop my RY4 perch for now.

Y'know, when I smoked, my tastes went from Newports to Newports to Newports, then back to Newports again ;)

passer,

Raf-a-licious is very balanced, with a definite sourness to counterweigh its sweetness. By contrast, AC3 is more broadly sweet, with no sour note at all. I doubt strongly that you would find one a replacement or substitute for the other.

sandy,

Any time I see a juice that includes in its name a word for one of the higher primates (other than humans, meaning monkeys, apes, chimps, orangs, whatever), I immediately think "banana." Actually, I've never seen any juice with "orangutan" in the name, but you get my drift. Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey ice cream has a banana base, and AVE's Gorilla Juice is, so I hear, essentially Boba's with banana.

What's wrong with Burley-Morley-Waffles? Not catchy enough to be memorable?

Yeah, you're right :(
And I don't like any of the banana juices. Quick associations - Burley=strong, Morley=Bob, Wafffles=..... dunno

I did consider a Bob Marley and the Wailers play on words, but I couldn't come up with anything Rastafarian/Jamaican/reggae/ska/dub that didn't immediately imply an association with that other plant---you know, the psychoactive one that can't be mentioned on ECF.

I think "tobaffle" is more of a category (like "RY4") than a specific juice.

ROFL.

We are so twisted. I love it :D

Okay, so tobaffle is the category of tobacco-waffle juices. Coined by myself.
Frankenjuice is the broad general category of mixing pre-made retail juices until something satifactory is achieved, as opposed to starting from scratch with DIY. Coined by Maestro Bill.

And to answer everyone's unspoken question, no, I haven't got anything better to do with my time and brain power :)
