It's when you start meddling with the classic combinations that sure, you could create something unique, wonderful and moorish, but equally run the risk of creating a terrible Frankenstein's monster instead...

Far, far too many RY4's try to be more then they should be. Most are mediocre at best, some down right awful vapes.

Without wishing to sound like some terrible communist (lol) the Chinese do tend to get this better in my experience. An awful lot of American (and I dare say home grown uk liquids too) have muddled and confused flavour profiles. They often pile on the extra this and that, from too much caramel, to sweetened, maple syrup, honey and sugared flavours to outright off tasting tobaccos. Almost all Custom made ry4's to me, have something 'not quite right' about them. An sweaty, woody pine like quality in the tobacoo mix, or an incredibly sweet, artificial flavour attempting to be caramel.

Pink spots Ry8 is probably still, the worst ry4 variant I've ever had, and I've had lots... There's certainly other notable variants however, usually failed attempts to 'better' a classic with disastrous consequences. Doctor Y4 springs, horrifically to mind, a 30ml bottle that I've had steeping and likely to continue steeping for almost a year now, with just 6mls vaped.

No for me I need that crisp, clear and freshness that Chinese Ry4's often have in abundance. They seem to be about simplicity. Allowing a perfect medley of the core ingredients to sing their individual notes un-impeded by notions of being too sweet, too tobacooy etc etc.

Add a subtle sourness on the exhale, allow that distinctive almost liquorice sweetness to mix with the sour tobacoo with gentle crisp vanilla notes on the high tones and you'll have a superb Ry4 every single time.

Still on the VapourWorld Ry4's (and the double strength Ry8) here, their trusty Dekang base never failing me it seems.

The American made moon drop Ry4 I also have on test, proving a remarkably muddled beast in comparison. It's wood shop like aftertaste a depressing discovery, one I hope steeping further, the incredibly redish looking liquid may yet solve.

Ordered 3 bottles of that DK Janty just now. Simply can't wait for that, full review incoming? Of course. It's the original, it's the best, it's deserves it.

Can not say I have tried it since my last run in with NETs and MOV it turned me off completely, just staying with Want2Vape on NETS but the willingness to even try it as a RY4 has lost its appeal since the word honey has come into the picture  plus I have big news about my vaping becuz its almost come to its end, I cant make the promise yet that I am done, but its verly close at hand....

Wow. Zombite and Sandy return on the same day! Like long lost beloveds showing up to warm my heart.

Although I'm getting very good at mixing up all-in-one RY4 flavorings in DIY, I'm afraid Z. would gag at my homemade-from-scratch RY4s. Almost everyone else does, including me. LOL. Still, as I say, I can whip up a mean Nutzilla or Want2Vape RY4., and my Frankenjuicing skills are becoming a legend in my own mind. ROTF.

Z., Janty RY4 DK-Series is a revelation. Leaves every other Janty RY4 (Classic, Elixir, and Vitaya Series) in the dust, as if there were something ever-so-slightly off-kilter about them. The first ever is still the best. The King is alive and well. Long live the King.

Sandy & Zombite - glad you came back to join us!

I received my first order of Janty RY4 DK series a few weeks ago and I just don't get the same experience. Maybe my palate needs a few more months to evolve, maybe? Most all the chinese juices just do not please me very much. Seems like I remember Bill commenting somewhere long ago that during his first year of vaping he vaped a lot of BWB juices. I too, find BWB to be my all around favorite vendor and I will not reach my first year of vaping for a couple more months.

I must admit Janty RY4 DK is more enjoyable today than a couple of weeks ago, just not close to the top of my list.

On Target,

Ah, yet another instance of the Second Law of Vaping kicking in: "In vaping, the only person you have to please is yourself." (The First Law of Vaping is: "Taste is subjective.")

No matter how many of us gather around the campfire to sing Cumbaya to Janty RY4 DK, you are perfectly free to go your merry way and vape BWB RY4 until the cows come home (or until you run out, LOL), while you extol its virtues as your personal best-ever RY4.

Yes, I plowed through two 30ml bottles of BWB RY4 in my first year of vaping. It was, in fact, the #1 ranked RY4 by a mile in the original post of this thread that kicked off the big list with 23 RY4s (to which we've now added 100 more...). Gradually, however, I fell out of love with BWB RY4, in part because buying and reviewing RY4s like there was no tomorrow introduced me to other RY4s I liked better, and in part because I eventually I tired of the subtle but distinct aura of fresh pine that is almost a characteristic signature of numerous BWB tobacco bases, including their RY4. (Notice that I didn't resort to the sarcasm of writing "Pine-Sol." I have no ax to grind here and don't wish to throw stones at a juice that remains immensely popular and whose absence is still deeply lamented to this day.)

I bought my last 30ml bottle of BWB RY4 way back in May 2011, during the feeding frenzy when BWB was available only occasionally, before Don threw in the towel completely and discontinued it. That bottle still has 13mls of RY4 left. It would have 18mls except that I gave away 10mls to two friends. LOL.

I for one am glad to say the first law of vaping is still intact in my camp! As long as ANY juice pleases me and satisfies the cancer stick cravings, mission accomplished. And there are a LOT of juices out there that please me. Heck, I have merely scratched the tip of the iceberg when it comes to RY4's alone - not to mention all other flavors and I have several non RY4's among my faves. So, all is well and long live the original RY4 king Janty - I may come to like you some day. If not, no problem.

Some aspects of ejuice taste are subjective for all vapers.

All aspcets of ejuice taste are subjective for some vapers.

But not all aspects of ejuice taste are subjective for all vapers.

Cool,

I understand your point, of course, but when I invoke the "Taste is subjective" mantra, that's code for "What I like you may not, and what you like I may not---and neither of us is wrong."

Allright Ive held off asking this question but I finally have to ask. If you had to choose 3 of the RY4s that come remotely close to the flavor profile in BWB RY4 what would they be? Im wanting to order from a few different vendors but as the list is insanely wrong I certainly wont be ordering for them all :)

Ruppy,

I'll assume your auto spell-checker changed "insanely long" to "insanely wrong." (I know that ECF has some members who scorn RY4 entirely. Just flat-out hate it. For them, perhaps, The Big RY4 List might be "insanely wrong." LOL.)

The answers to your question about what three RY4s are remotely close to BWB RY4's flavor profile are:

1. None.
2. None.
3. None.

I'm not trying to mess with your head. It's just that BWB RY4 doesn't taste like any other RY4. Period. End of story.

In the short run, you might get extremely lucky and find some BWB RY4 for sale in the Classifieds. Doubtful but theoretically possible. In the long run, however, you'll need to find an RY4 you like that provides a fundamentally different flavor experience than BWB RY4, because BWB RY4 quite simply bore no resemblance to any other RY4 in the marketplace. It was and remains the most popular Custom RY4 ever made.

Haha yeah auto correct apparently got me on the one. I figured if anyone know it would be you. I am intrigued by all of the variations on RY4 just looking fo a good start.

Ruppy, I agree with Bill - there is NO RY4 that is remotely similar to BWB's and that one is my all time favorite RY4. Your preferences may be similar to mine and maybe not, but here are the RY4's that I routinely vape day in and day out:

Halo Tribeca
Want2Vape
Vaporessence (I think I spelled this right, they are in TX)
Indigo Vapors

And these are vaped frequently but not daily:

Prime Vaping PV4
QuicNic
RW Vapors

You may or may not like these, but at least it is a "short list" LOL. Good luck.

Ruppy,

Since we've established that nothing will be remotely like BWB RY4, let me suggest four RY4s that, while not substitutes for BWB, might be interesting to you:

1. Joyetech RY4
2. IndigoVapors Classic
3. NashvilleVapor Professor Marvel's Master Blend
4. Vapor..... Our4

Thanks OT sounds like a good place to start. I was vaping AVE Raf as an alternative until they also discontinued theirs. Time to place a few orders ;)

Ruppy, while not similar to BWB - Vaporescence RY4 is probably the closest of any I vape regularly. This profile has a lemony taste to it in addition to the core ingredients of Tobacco, Caramel and Vanilla. When I first purchased it about a month or so ago, it struck me as a little wierd, I could not detect the lemon notes so I sent a small sample to Bill for his input. He identified the lemon immediately. It was OK the first week, after several weeks of steeping it is much better. It took about a month for Vaporescence to make it into my daily rotation but now it has a firm spot among my favorites. YMMV, but you may like it. Here is a link to their web site:

Hey, all.. could anyone tell me the difference between janty's dk and elixir ry4? I'm leaning toward the elixir so I can mix pg and vg blend unless the dk is that much better. I have seen no talk on this thread of the elixir..I would love something like ave's RAF, my all time fave thus far and holy grail. I've seen that compared to RAF..

And by the way, I appreciate the info given previously on Indigo. I have been trying their ry4, not the classic, and have been impressed. It does seem very well blended to me and quite classic itself from my understanding of the definition... the santa sauce ain't bad either...
