It's when you start meddling with the classic combinations that sure, you could create something unique, wonderful and moorish, but equally run the risk of creating a terrible Frankenstein's monster instead...
Far, far too many RY4's try to be more then they should be. Most are mediocre at best, some down right awful vapes.
Without wishing to sound like some terrible communist (lol) the Chinese do tend to get this better in my experience. An awful lot of American (and I dare say home grown uk liquids too) have muddled and confused flavour profiles. They often pile on the extra this and that, from too much caramel, to sweetened, maple syrup, honey and sugared flavours to outright off tasting tobaccos. Almost all Custom made ry4's to me, have something 'not quite right' about them. An sweaty, woody pine like quality in the tobacoo mix, or an incredibly sweet, artificial flavour attempting to be caramel.
Pink spots Ry8 is probably still, the worst ry4 variant I've ever had, and I've had lots... There's certainly other notable variants however, usually failed attempts to 'better' a classic with disastrous consequences. Doctor Y4 springs, horrifically to mind, a 30ml bottle that I've had steeping and likely to continue steeping for almost a year now, with just 6mls vaped.
No for me I need that crisp, clear and freshness that Chinese Ry4's often have in abundance. They seem to be about simplicity. Allowing a perfect medley of the core ingredients to sing their individual notes un-impeded by notions of being too sweet, too tobacooy etc etc.
Add a subtle sourness on the exhale, allow that distinctive almost liquorice sweetness to mix with the sour tobacoo with gentle crisp vanilla notes on the high tones and you'll have a superb Ry4 every single time.
Still on the VapourWorld Ry4's (and the double strength Ry8) here, their trusty Dekang base never failing me it seems.
The American made moon drop Ry4 I also have on test, proving a remarkably muddled beast in comparison. It's wood shop like aftertaste a depressing discovery, one I hope steeping further, the incredibly redish looking liquid may yet solve.
Ordered 3 bottles of that DK Janty just now. Simply can't wait for that, full review incoming? Of course. It's the original, it's the best, it's deserves it.
