I'm looking forward to your review of Darth Vaper's RY5. I will offer one caveat, however: I believe this one should be left to steep for at least 3-4 weeks (or longer). (But then, I'm notorious for my lengthy steeping requirements.)

Eleanor,

No problem. I got my 3ml sample bottle of DarthVapers RY5 as a freebie with a hardware order last October. It's been steeping for four months so far. I haven't reviewed it yet because I was waiting to get some DarthVapers RY4 to compare and contrast, but then my financial austerity program kicked in, and I haven't bought any.

At some point, I'll stop waiting and review the RY5. I remember sampling it early on and thinking that it was odd. I just dripped a little again a moment ago, and it's still odd. The single word "odd" doesn't qualify as a review, but it'll have to tide you over for now. I sure would like to taste their RY4...

So I hear Janty classic RY4 is coming back, its already in Europe and Germany ...US always gets the shaft lol

passer,

Do you prefer the Janty Classic RY4 over the two Elixirs (mostly-PG and mostly-VG base)? I haven't tried Janty's new Vitaya line, but the Classic and two Elixir RY4s are all so close that I don't think I could identify them accurately in a blindfold test.

Just got my Goodejuice GJ4 today, and it has instantly become my all day vape! Thanks Bill for your excellent reviews and for turning me on to this wonderful, tasty juice!

I got some a few days ago. I guess I don't have to let it steep any longer, LOL. *grabs a new carto*

I got this flavor a month ago. I was going through my "box of others" and decided to revisit this one. The rich, creamy caramel and vanilla have really come alive! There is still a hint of nuttiness, which I like. It is very dessert-like now. The tobacco and sweetness are still there.
I suggest billherbst gives this another try. He liked it before, will he love it now?

GoodEJuice GJ4
I see what all the fuss is now. This flavor (after one week steep) is very good. The smokey tobacco is out front, with a good vanilla/caramel blend as sweetener. Just a good tobacco blend.

I'm am always hesitant to try a juice right upon receiving it. Just from hours of research, it seems the general consensus is to let it steep a week or 2 before trying it out, plus a lot of vendors mix juices to order (I heard from a vendor that this is to prevent cross contamination -- seems logical) which means they more than likely will need some steeping time. I usually take a whiff of the juice to see how it smells, and if the smell is pleasing enough I'll try it out. Keep in mind this doesn't always work out to my advantage as I've had some juices smell amazing, but not taste as great right off the bat. This one smelled delicious, and I couldn't make myself wait even a second! As for right now, I'm practicing a little bit of self-control and I'm going to let it steep for a week (probably, just a few days :p) and see how much more flavor I can bring out of it. Glad you liked the juice.

So I got my hands on some Kalamazoo Vapor Shop RY4. Not so sure about this one. I think I may have to let this one steep for a little while or something, or maybe I got the wrong juice? For some reason I keep getting a slight flavor of something reminiscent of minty cough syrup. That's the only way I can describe it. It's not overpowering, but it's definitely there. It's not the only flavor present, and it honestly doesn't taste terrible, but nothing about it tastes like RY4 to me.

That's why I bring up maybe I got the wrong flavor by accident. I find it highly unlikely, but you can never rule out human error, entirely. Maybe my taste buds just don't prefer this specific blend. I've let it sit for a week and the flavor has not changed at all.

Maybe I'll come back around to it in a few more weeks and see if that makes any difference. But for now, I'll continue to vape myself silly with the GJ4, which seems to only get better with age.

Posting here in part to mark the thread, but I've been trying out some V4L RY4 e-liquid. Not sure by whom it's made, but it doesn't sound much like the Dekang liquids, although perhaps (maybe likely) the same as the Bloog/SmokelessImage RY4 (since V4L is also mostly a KR808 dealer).

I like it, I'd say that it's largely caramel, but a very deep caramel flavor and not excessively sweet. I'm not getting any vanilla from it, and despite being PG, it has a very thick sort of caramel flavor. I'm not detecting any nuttiness, or perhaps any vanilla, but I've only tried fairly few juices and my palate is not yet well developed.

I'm really enjoying the Janty Elixir VG RY4 right now... I like that classic taste a lot...
wish it were more affordable...
any good low cost alternatives?
I always seem to strike out with the dekang... even ordered direct from china recently... it was horrible

LT,

After acquiring 70-some RY4s and RY4-variants, I am more and more of the opinion that Janty RY4 (in either the Classic or Elixir lines) stands alone. I'm not suggesting that Janty is necessarily the "best" RY4---that judgment is a matter of subjective personal opinion---only that nothing else currently available succeeds in replicating Janty's flavor and overall vaping experience.

Janty has some cousins in RY4 Land, most of which you've already vaped: Dulcis, Bloog/Volt, Taboo, ElixirLiquid RY4, Riskee Yuice, and (sometimes) Dekang, notably Dekang RY4 Intense. None of those, however, get close to Janty's exact recipe with its particularly rare and wonderful addition of subtle sourness to offset, balance, and harmonize the inherent sweetness. AVE Raf-a-licious has a little of that contrast, but fails to deliver the rich brightness of the Janty mix. I always marvel at the fact that Ludo and the Dekang chemist were able to create a juice whose diverse flavor elements all dance individually and together to delight the palate---and in a single afternoon, no less!

Sure, I could recommend lots of other RY4s that are darn good and less expensive---KickBassVapor RY4 and VaporStation VS4 come to mind as RY4s that lean in the same general direction as Janty, but neither of those (nor any others) are Janty clones. Comparison vaped side-by-side, the differences are immediately apparent, and Janty usually wins, at least for me.

I honestly think that your best bet is probably to just bite the bullet, pay the extra freight of Janty's admittedly exorbitant prices, and order another bottle of Janty Elixir RY4. The pain of a slightly thinner wallet will be alleviated (one hopes) by the satisfaction of knowing that you're vaping the original RY4.

Can anyone tell me about the RY4 and "Caramel Spanish Gold" variant from Sweet-Vapes? They're a bit pricey, but are they worth it?

To be honest, the great RY4 hunt is starting to really tick me off. I keep buying bottle after bottle of RY4 from various vendors, and it's like they're not even trying anymore. Most of them don't even taste like RY4 at all, or are just cheap and nasty. What we really need is a central juice website that carries only small samples of everybody's juices to make it easy for vapers to decide which ones they want to start buying regularly! Seriously, a nice ejuice "Walmart" where we just toss pre-filled carto singles of various flavors into the cart, vape 'em once on the cheap, and go from there. Sign me up!

I just ordered a bottle of the caramel spanish gold yesterday, It sounds like it should be pretty good, I'll get back to you once I try it, unless someone else beats me to the punch.

The more I vape this, the more I want to say that it has a bit of a liqueur flavor, but none of the bargain/chinese juices fit that flavor profile. They claim it's a V4L exclusive, but I'm a bit skeptical just due to the price.

I wouldn't recommend it as an all-day vape (it's just a bit too thick/rich for that, in my book) but it's definitely very interesting. And for $12.50/30ml it was well worth the price.

I didn't see it on the list, and it's entirly possible that this is listed under another vendor, but has Madvapes Hangsen RY4 been reviewed on this thread? It's the third RY4 I've tried (the first being Tribeca, and second being M+P RY4v2), and it has a flavor that reminds me of Tribeca quite a bit. Unfortunatly the only one I've really liked, and I mean really like I vape this stuff every day, is M+P RY4v2.

I keep wanting MV's Hangsen RY4 to be better, but I suppose at the price I paid (less than 4$ for 10ml) I shouldn't expect much. Looking at what I've tried so far, might someone have a suggestion for a better juice to check out?

I really like Sweet-Vapes tobaccos, but there is something in ALL their juices (I suspect a sweetener) which doesn't agree with me. Therefore I put them on the classifieds "For Sale" thread, where both tobaccos are still available:

Sweet-Vapes (all 80/20 pg/vg/, 12mg):
Caramel Spanish Gold [Tobacco] (28ml), exp. 11/23/12 -- Reduced -- $13
Peach Mapacho Tobacco (4ml), exp. 11/23/12 -- $2

The more I vape this [V4L RY4], the more I want to say that it has a bit of a liqueur flavor, but none of the bargain/chinese juices fit that flavor profile. They claim it's a V4L exclusive, but I'm a bit skeptical just due to the price.

V4L's RY4 is a Chinese-made juice, albeit to V4L's own proprietary recipe. It was one of the first e-juices I vaped, and completely fell in love with, and for introducing me to the whole concept of "RY4s" I shall be ever thankful to it! I still get a yen for it occasionally. :)

Cthulhu,

Sweet-Vapes RY4 is on the Big List and was reviewed in post #774. Caramel Spanish Gold is a tobacco blend that I happen to like quite a bit, but---like so many caramel-tobacco juices---it's not really an RY4, and to my palate doesn't taste like one, either. That said, both Caramel Spanish Gold and Mapacho Tobacco are in my stable of daily vapes.

To be honest, the great RY4 hunt is starting to really tick me off. I keep buying bottle after bottle of RY4 from various vendors, and it's like they're not even trying anymore. Most of them don't even taste like RY4 at all, or are just cheap and nasty. I sympathize with your frustration. The only place I know that is like the central clearinghouse "Walmart" you describe is my living room (which, for better or worse, is not open to the public), in the three cabinet drawers that house all the bottles of RY4s I've acquired and reviewed. As I've written before, I keep about 50 different RY4s loaded into cartos in an ammo box on my desk. Being able to comparison-vape five or ten RY4s head-to-head within 10 minutes is extremely enlightening. I'm not suggesting that vaping just one RY4 is an inadequate or invalid basis for assessment or evaluation, but I've discovered that comparison-vaping is downright brilliant at highlighting the similarities and differences between various RY4s.

If I'm in the middle of an RY4 comparison session (which I do about once a week), where my palate is nicely warmed up but not yet burned out, it doesn't take more than a single toke or two of a particular RY4 for me to immediately get a handle on the flavor profile, mix of ingredients, and whether or not I like it.

I've never comparison-vaped all 70 RY4s I have in a single sitting because my palate blows out after about 15 RY4s. Initially, each one tastes strikingly individual and clear as a bell to me, but after 15 or so, my brain gets overwhelmed, and they all taste, well, not the same, but sort of meaningless, and not very good. That's when I know the session is over.

The downside to my having all those RY4s is that I tend not to vape RY4 for pleasure anymore. This thread has pretty much put the kibosh on that. LOL.
