specs: I purchased a 10ml bottle of Inawera RY-4 flavoring concentrate from VapersTek and mixed a 3.7 glass vial sample using 7% flavoring at 12mg nic (using the ultra-clean UK-sourced liquid nic from VapersTek) in a 50/50 PG/VG base. Both the flavoring and the DIY mixed juice were transparent and clear (meaning colorless), with no discernible scent. Sampling was done by dripping into a standard, old-school 2.2 ohm JoyeTech 510 atomizer (slightly modified by my debridging it) powered by a Vision Spinner clone battery set to 4.3 volts for an output of 8.4 watts.

Move over, FlavourArt RY4, TFA RY4 Double, and Want2Vape RY4---there’s a new kid on the DIY all-in-one RY4 flavoring block, and it’s definitely a contender. Actually, it’s more like a great pop song that opens on the charts at #1.

Inawera produces a line of flavorings---a large line with many interesting offerings---in Poland. That’s right, Poland (no Polack jokes allowed). Inawera is not a new flavoring company; it’s been around for years, but access in America has been limited until recently. EcigExpress, VapersTek, and BullCityVapor are three vendors that have added Inawera flavors to their offerings, and other vendors may already sell them or soon will. Inawera is earning a good reputation for its flavors among DIY vapors, up there with FlavourArt from Italy and Capella from the U.S.

I hadn’t known that Inawera even made an all-in-one RY4 flavoring until I was cruising the VapersTek web site last week looking for flavorings to pad a liquid nic order to get past the free shipping cutoff. At $3.99 from VapersTek (or only $3.49 from BullCityVapor), Inawera RY-4 concentrate is a bargain. Using a 7% mix concentration, that four bucks will make 140ml of DIY RY4. Not bad, not bad at all. If you buy liquid nic and PG/VG in bulk as I do, then a 30ml bottle of Inawera RY-4 will set you back a mere pittance---less than two bucks.

Inawera RY-4 all-in-one flavoring concentrate, like FlavourArt RY4 flavoring, makes Classic RY4. That in itself is rare, since most RY4 flavorings are Custom. When I vape Inawera RY-4, my brain says, “Caramel. No, wait. Vanilla. No, wait, synthetic tobacco. No, wait---Oh hell, I don’t know. It's RY4!” Great Classic RY4s are like that---the flavors are so balanced and blended that the juice ends up vaping as a single overall taste (RY4), rather than three or more component flavors. Here the three basic flavors (synthetic tobacco, caramel, vanilla) have just enough oomph to give Inawera RY-4 a kick that is bright and satisfying.

Even more impressive, however, is the fact that both the flavoring itself and the DIY juice I mixed are perfectly clear liquids. Not just transparent (all juices should be transparent), but CLEAR. As in, completely colorless. Just like water. Hold up my little 3.7ml vial of RY-4 next to a glass of clean water, and there’s no visual difference. Both have no color at all. That’s amazing.

I drip six drops of this RY4 into my 510 atomizer and half expect it to taste like water. But it doesn’t. It tastes like RY4, and a darned good one at that. I used 7% flavoring to make my little sample vial, but I think one could go as low as 4% or as high as 10% and get really great RY4 from this flavoring. Personally, I think more than 10% would probably be overkill and might detract from the final result, but it’s possible that 12% or so might just move the juice away from Classic and into the Custom genre. I haven’t tried pushing the envelope by adding more flavoring, but I probably will at some point.

A 7% mix is great for my palate, though. The DIY RY4 is flavorful, but not heavy or oppressive. I’d call it “light,” but I don’t want that word to be misinterpreted as “weak.” I mean light as in “delightful.” A 7% mix of Inawera RY-4 isn’t weak at all. It’s delightful, at least for me.

The Big RY4 Report Card

The grades given for these retail RY4s are my opinion only. They are also current judgments and may differ from grades I gave in the past. So please understand that if you base a buying decision solely on this list, you might end up getting an RY4 that I like rather than one you’ll like, since my tastes and palate are unlikely to match yours perfectly---in some cases, not even remotely. Conversely, you may like an RY4 to which I gave a low grade.

Within each grade, the RY4s are listed in alphabetical order. This kind of judging is ridiculous enough without splitting hairs or nit-picking between RY4s within the same grade.

Mixing Percentages
The key to making good DIY RY4 from Pre-Mixed RY4 flavorings and concentrates is knowing how much (or rather, how little) flavoring to use. Flavorings require a higher percentage; concentrates work at lower percentages. Use too much of either and you will ruin the juice. I cannot stress this strongly enough. Start out mixing lean. Then---if necessary---add more flavoring very sparingly. Test-vape after each small addition of flavor. Keep in mind that the flavors will “bloom” with steeping---a DIY RY4 that seems to lack flavor when new may magically mature into full-flavor after two weeks, so exercise both patience and restraint.

When making a small bottle of DIY RY4 (6mls or less) using a very concentrated flavoring, adding even two drops to an existing mix can be enough to wreck the flavor profile. Increase the flavoring only one drop at a time. Remember: Less is best, and more is not necessarily better. Err on the side of using too little flavoring rather than too much! Below are my recommended percentages for different brands of RY4 flavorings:

Over the past year and a half, FlavourArt and Hangsen Essence had fought it out for me as the Best Classic RY4 all-in-one DIY flavorings until Inawera RY-4 came along and dethroned them both. Inawera isn’t worlds better than FA or HS, but it has become my new favorite flavoring to make DIY Classic RY4.

Want2Vape RY4 remains, in my estimation, the best Custom RY4 all-in-one DIY flavoring. It’s not nearly as popular as TFA RY4 Double (which would be #1 by far if I were ranking by general popularity alone) and doesn’t have the spicy kick of Azure Vaping RY4.5, but I appreciate how smooth it is. W2V RY4 is also made with natural tobacco extract, which is a plus in my book.

I didn't miss AzureVaping RY4.5, I simply didn't buy it in the retail juice version. I bought and reviewed it as an RY4 all-in-one DIY flavoring, so it's discussed and graded in that fourth section of The Big List, in post 5550.

Imagine my surprise when I went to the Smokeless Image site Smokeless Image | The Best Electronic Cigarette and found that a 30ML bottle costs $6.95 right now. I ordered two 30ML bottles shipped for $17 total! Damn, maybe I should order more.

I wanted to update this. I was just changing my email address at various vendors and I poked around some for any deals. The $6.95 is now Smokeless Image's everyday price for 30ml of pretty much any of their juices. I looked back to my first order of the SI Volt, and it was $13.95 for 30ml.

Bill has this as an A juice because the stuff is just terrific. I'm sure you can find good deals out there and I find them as well, but getting 60ml of SI Volt RY4 for $17 delivered, or $34 for 120ml delivered, has to be among the best deals outside of DIY.

I wasn't even looking to buy more juice today, but I bought 60 more mls because I keep thinking they'll pull the rug out from under this. Awesome value IMO.

specs: I ordered some Aspire BVC coil heads from evape.us last week, not only because the price was good, but also because evape offered a free 10ml bottle from their in-house juice line-up. Needless to say, I asked for (and got) a bottle of their RY4---12mg nic in their standard 70PG/30VG base blend. The color of the liquid is hard to tell because the bottle is a smoke-colored plastic, but I can tell that it’s a pale color, probably golden. Nose of the juice is very slight but pleasant. Price is reasonably inexpensive for a retail RY4 at $3.99 for 10ml, and $9.89 for 30ml. I tested the juice by dripping into a standard, old-school 2.2 ohm JoyeTech 510 atomizer powered by a Vision Spinner set to various voltage settings, from 3.7 volts to 4.4 volts.

Evape RY4 falls squarely into the Custom RY4 genre. It’s one of many “modern” American RY4s, making no attempt to replicate the Classic Chinese RY4 flavor profile or vaping experience. It uses the trinity of RY4 core flavors---synthetic tobacco, caramel, and vanilla.

The 11 customer reviews on the RY4 product page of evape’s site are unified in their praise of this juice, varying from good to great. One reviewer stated that it took him back to his days smoking Camels. While I never smoked Camels, Evape RY4 uses a synthetic tobacco flavor that reminds me of Dekang Desert Ship. Another customer wrote that it’s very heavy on the tobacco, and I agree with that assessment. I think the juice is a bit unbalanced. Personally, I’d like it better if the tobacco were less distinct and somewhat milder to harmonize better with the caramel and vanilla. As it is, if you like the particular synthetic tobacco flavor used here, you’ll like evape RY4. If not, you’ll move on to another of the hundreds of RY4s from which we can choose.

I liked evape RY4 better at higher voltage/wattage. That seemed to help bring out the caramel/vanilla, which improved the balance. Using a standard eGo battery (3.3-3.7 volts) with this juice demands a low-resistance atty. The juice has ample flavor throughout the entire range of voltages. It makes no attempt at subtlety, instead going for the gusto. So, if you like very flavorful RY4s, evape RY4 might be right down your alley.

My overall reaction is to judge evape RY4 as an average, but not middle-of-the-road RY4. To my palate, the synthetic tobacco flavoring used makes the flavor profile slightly eccentric. Whoever created the juice liked that tobacco flavor a lot. Some vapers will too---as the on-site customer reviews confirm---but others may not respond so favorably. If I’d never vaped another RY4, I might find this one quite compelling and unusual in a good way that made it special. Given that I’ve vaped and reviewed more than 160 RY4s, however, I don’t think all that much of it. OK in a pinch, but not an RY4 that I will reach for, particularly because I have so many other superb RY4s that are simply more pleasing to me.

I like evape as a vendor quite a bit, but---as far as I'm concerned---their RY4 is only so-so.

I have a question for all of you RY4 experts...I started vaping a couple of years ago & started searching for a juice I liked. In the process of buying multiple flavors from various vendors, I just had to try the legendary Backwoods Brew (BWB) RY4. I ended up purchasing a bottle during one of the last runs right before it was discontinued, tried it once by dripping & hated it. I still have the full bottle & I know that back then at least, there were so many people who loved it. I was thinking of selling it to someone who really wants it, but I'm not sure where to list it? I'm fairly inexperienced w/ the forums but thought I remembered a classified section where people could sell things? Is there such a place? Just not sure the best way to go about this but wanted to start spreading the word in case anyone is interested. I have the bottle here I can send a picture or post one just not sure how. You can buy a bottle of 6mg and one of 0mg and mix them. Might not be what you want to hear, but that is one solution.

I think that's probably the best solution. Relatively few vendors have an option for 3mg nic. Why not go the easy route and stick with what you like with a 50:50 mix of 6mg and 0mg ECBlend XX RY4?
