Post numbers of reviews are now active links that will open a new page of your browser and display the linked review (making it unnecessary to hunt through the pages of the thread to find a specific review, which was always a royal pain). Also, RY4s by Category Groups will now appear in a separate post.

Please keep in mind that other people post RY4 reviews in this thread, often for specific RY4s and other juices I may not have reviewed. I don’t mean to slight my friends and colleagues, but just keeping track of my own reviews is as much work as I can handle, so you’ll need to do a search to find other posters’ contributions.

The Big RY4 List has seven sections:

1. Bill’s RY4 Reviews - Classic and Custom Retail RY4s, with links to the vendor’s product page and post number links to the initial reviews (and occasionally to follow-up reviews as well)
2. RY4s not yet acquired for review
3. RY4s that are no longer available for one reason or another
4. Bill’s Reviews of Other Juices (non-RY4s)
5. Bill’s Reviews of RY4 premixed DIY Flavoring Concentrates
6. Vaping Commentaries
7. Bill's Personal Top 13 Favorite RY4s

I tried the DIY sample of Tobacco Express Ruyan 4 that Bill sent me. It is in 60/40 PG/VG and 18mg nic. For a Chinese flavor, this one is not as bright on the high notes. It is more "middle of the road" in this respect, not what I would call a custom blend but not much like the DeKang flavors I have tried either. The tobacco leads the flavor profile but is not overpowering. Caramel is smooth and leaves a slight creamy feeling on the palate after exhale. Vanilla is hard to discern, it is there but just barely. It produces clouds of vapor, even at 40% VG. This one is good, but just barely what I would call an RY4. Maybe if more vanilla were blended into the mix, I would like it more. My preference in a RY4 leans more to a stronger vanilla.

Over all, still a thumbs up. This is the 4th DIY sample of Bill's I have tried now and all 4 are good!

Bill, I have been atty dripping Decadent Vapour’s DV4 for about an hour now trying to come up with the right words to describe it. And I must say it is not easy! I like it but this is not quite like any other RY4 I have tried. The tobacco takes the lead upon inhale and the vanilla and caramel blend together in harmony upon exhale. Again, all three components are unique to me as I have nothing similar to compare them to.

To me this is primarily a tobacco vape with the vanilla and caramel playing supporting roles – not a dessert vape. Another thumbs up, 3 for 3!

Follow up to my review of Decadent Vapour’s DV4, I went ahead and filled up a boge carto in LR to try a different delivery method. I don't know what it is about atty dripping, but I never seem to get as much flavor from an atty as I do a carto. Maybe I just need to try a different atty than the Smok Tech 2 ohm atty I have. Suggestions anyone?

With the boge carto, it is easier for me to pick up on the flavor profile. The tobacco is not so much in the lead now, it and caramel are neck and neck, both fighting for the ribbon with vanilla close behind. I like this juice a lot and it still has me somewhat confused since it is different than any RY4's I have tried. I cannot make up my mind if this one classifies as custom or classic. Very tasty though and good enough to rotate in and out of my daily vapes!

Bill when is your DIY going to be ready for production!!!

passer,

Never. LOL.

As I may have posted earlier (and if I didn't, I should have), nothing in the two Sampler packs I sent out is "my" diy juice. Every one is made from a single pre-mixed RY4 concentrate, with no extra flavorings. I didn't create them, I was just the factory worker on the assembly line who put them together.

My own efforts at DIY juice-making continue as happily as before, but I remain at best a moderately competent DIY mechanic, and at worst a DIY Doofus, rather than the artisan DIY juice alchemist I'd need to be if I were going to slap my name on a line of retail juices. Great fun for me privately, but hardly ready for primetime.

Bill i see you listed COV4 as stronger tobaco (less sweet) category, is these correct ?

roxxette,

As I wrote in my COV4 review (which we can all access easily now, just by clicking on the post number link in The Big List---man, was that a lot of work!!!), COV4 is an odd juice because of the in-your-face intensity of flavors. Strong tobacco, strong caramel, and sweet. Not quite dessert sweet to my palate, but close. An unusual combination.

Perhaps I should amend the category name to read: "Stronger Tobacco (usually less sweet)."

On Target,

Our taste buds are on the same page (that's sort of a weird image, like having our tongues stuck on a piece of fly paper, but you know what I mean).

Tobacco Express Ruyan 4 is more an RY4 in name than in flavor profile. The overall taste is closer to a caramel-tobacco blend. I can't tell if it has any nuttiness. Maybe, but maybe not. From the RY4 perspective, Ruyan 4 virtually begs for more vanilla. So far, I haven't tried adding any vanilla flavoring or mixing in a little of one of my many retail vanilla juices (results would be vastly different depending on the particular vanilla). At some point, I'm sure I'll give it a go. For now, I've been using it as is.

REVIEW: Heavenly Tobacco by Heather's Heavenly Vapes
Shipped 26 September, unpacked 9 October, vaped in a clear DCC on Provari Mini set to 4.2 volts.

For reasons unknown, HHV's website says this isn't an RY4. They say that used to call it one, but they don't anymore.

Well that is pretty sneaky of them because this IS an RY4 and a darn fine one at that. This hasn't steeped properly yet but it is right up there with my favorites after vaping on it for a day and a night. Buttery smooth tobacco with a nice wallop of caramel and a vanilla aftertaste that knits it all together. Squarely in the middle of the road as far as type but I would say it leans a bit further toward "classic" than "custom". Steeping will probably change that. I also don't notice any nuttiness although I am decidedly in the minority on this. It's sweet enough to qualify for "dessert" status, which as you know is always a plus in my book:)

I've already vaped one DCC's worth (2.5mls I think) of HT and it is just right. I'm reviewing the rest of my HHV order elsewhere on these forums but the Roundup deserves to know about this really good juice if you haven't tried it yet. Strongly recommended.

PS--I'm not usually one to notice or comment on vapor production but I gotta tell you that this makes CLOUDS. Very satisfying.

I wonder why HHV no longer wants to call Heavenly Tobacco an RY4? I know they went back and forth about the name and changed it early on, but now they're leaving the RY4 Building entirely? Oh well, we know what it is.

I can best sum up how I feel about HHV Heavenly Tobacco with an old D_ick Clark's American Bandstand riff: "Well, D_ick, it's got a good beat, and you can dance to it. I'd give it an 85." I don't use 1-100 number grades, but I did give Heavenly Tobacco a B+ in the most recent RY4 Report Card.

Heather is definitely among the cream of the crop of Artisan juice alchemists. Heck, Gandalf alone has secured her a place in the Vaping Hall of Fame. I wonder if that will end up in Cleveland, like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Bill, thanks for putting together the big huge list!

You're welcome, Sandy.

The way The Big List was before, the review post numbers were only minimally helpful. Even knowing the post number, locating any individual review was a huge pain. I didn't relish doing all the work of converting the post numbers into links, but it needed to be done, and now the The Big List is very slick. One click and my original review pops right up. Plus, all the vendor links now take you right to the product page of the individual RY4s. Much more user-friendly.

The only bad part is that for the RY4 Evaluations site that Cool Breeze is making, I feel compelled to edit, rewrite, or append many of the original reviews. My experience with RY4s is much more vast now than when the thread started, and many initial reviews no longer reflect my current opinions. Plus, most of the early reviews refer to things like rankings, which are now irrelevant, since the rankings got ditched long ago and have recently been recently brought back as grades. I hope to get on with that daunting task very slowly over the next weeks.

It'd be even better to add all the RY4 reviews by other posters---and if I could snap my fingers and make that happen by magic, I would---but actually doing it would take hundreds more hours of work to organize, and it's just way too much for me personally to take on.

Bill you have done enough already updating the thread with the link to each review. That in itself had to be a major undertaking. If I had to go back and dig through every post to compile all other poster's reviews, my hair would not only get more gray, It would start falling out (or get pulled out LOL).

I don't think you need to add my (or any other's) reviews. Although we have different tastes, your reviews are similar to what I had said.

However, you should buy and review each RY4 at each available nicotine level. This would help those who are vaping at a lower level. Also trying each RY4 at the various PG/VG blends could help. Then you should keep an updated coupon code list and list of current prices (with shipping). /SARCASM

I think the amount of work you have continued to freely bless us with, is above what we could ask. You have given us a place to share common interests, while we learn about new (and old) vendors. This has been one of two threads I follow everyday (and the best by far of the two).

Now to find someone as entertaining and interesting as Bill to start a new Really Big 555 Roundup.

By jove, you're right!!! I should not only buy each RY4 at every available nic level, but also in each different base ratio! So, if we've got six different nic levels (0, 6, 12, 18, 24, 32) and ten base ratios (all-PG, 90/10, 80/20, etc.), that translates to buying 60 bottles of each RY4.

Then---since the device matters also---I should vape each one with 20 different styles of atties/cartos on everything from an eGo batt to a ProVari.

Of course, each unique combination gets its own review, so that's... (pause, counting on fingers and toes) ...about 25,000 separate reviews for each and every RY4.

OK, I'll get started on that right away. LOL.

Be sure and get 30 ml bottles so there are plenty of leftovers to go around.

Gandalf is amazing! Just got a fresh new bottle, and just dripped Heavenly for the first time in an io6, and it is awesome. HHV just has amazed me so far. Dragon's Fire is also quite nice, but Gandalf is just plain and simply an all day vape.
