You are kind, Bill. I was afraid I had once again knee-jerked a wrong answer as I was prone to do in school days. Never mind...it didn't stop there.

Hoping to have learned from a master...

Proof that order can be found in chaos: Within the melangerie assembled by billherbst was found an harmonious whiff of RY4.

Important Note About Nomenclature: Animals in groups are given their own specialized names, i.e, a school of fish, a herd of cattle, a pack of wolves, pride of lions, clowder of cats, gaggle of geese, swarm of ants, flange of baboons, quiver of cobras, pod of dolphins, fesnying of ferrets, bouquet of pheasants, sounder of pigs, crash of rhinoceroses, rafter of turkeys, etc., etc. Some animals even have numerous names for their different categories of groupings: a brood or clutch of chicks, a wreck of sea birds, a brace or plump of game birds, and a dissimulation of ground birds. Separate species of birds also merit their own unique group names: a bevy of swans, a mumuration or chattering of starlings, a pandemonium of parrots, a stare of owls, and so forth.

Some people think that “coven” is a word for a group of witches, and it’s true that’s what the dictionary says. But the real word for a group of witches is an “argument.”

OK, let me run this up the flagpole and see who salutes.

The world melange (from the French, "to mix") has the following dictionary definition: a mixture, a hodgepodge, or a mishmash. It also has the particular meaning in geology of a totally disordered mixture of rocks of different shapes, sizes, ages, and origins.

Sounds pretty good to me. I think until further notice I'll begin calling my group of daily juices a melangerie. That's a twist on the odd collection of animal (or people) that's called a menagerie.

So, diy Black Sesame Cake is the newest addition to my melangerie of juices. LOL.

Melange is a great term... I learned it from roasting coffee. Some people blend different beans together and then roast them in the same batch... While other use a melange style blend, which means you roast each different type of bean to get a certain flavor, and then mix them together. Definitely get a salute from me :toast:

Ok thats what $3.75 for 15ml.... lets say the bottle .15, label .10...labor $1.00....box and ship $5.50 =$10.50 Shipped

That gives the Monkeys a $7.45 profit....not bad for 5 mins of work....:p

If Bill would get his DIY RY4 beyond any other RY4 ready, I am sure he would make it priced for everyone :D

Does anyone know if K-Max from Vermillion Rivers is a updated version of KY4?

No, it's not. K-Max is a VermillionRiver in-house Frankenblend. You can make it yourself. Simply mix equal parts of Kentucky Premium Blend with Classic Blend (1:1). Presto! K-Max. (This was confirmed by VR reps on the VermillionRiver Supplier thread before it was offered for sale on-site, if I recall correctly.)

I agree with you but as long as people will pay that , they will sell at that price. If everyone cut down on paying that you would see the price come down. I guess just like anything else out there that we pay for.

Kentucky Max IS a caramelly tobacco, but it has a pretty strong hazelnut flavor to it that kind of ruins it for me. Their Kentucky Premium and KY4 are both good though. I wish it wasn't named KY4, as KY is easily made fun of.

Vermillion River must have changed K-Max after they began selling it. Initial reactions were that it was smokey and less sweet, which would go with a mix of Classic and KY Premium, but later comments called it sweeter, dessert-like tobacco, which would make sense with nnormandy's post. Maybe they took the slight hazelnut in Premium and upped it for K-Max.

specs: I purchased both a 10ml bottle of RY4.5 and a 30ml bottle of RY4.5 diy flavor concentrate from BlueMist. This review will cover only the retail juice version of RY4.5. The diy flavor concentrate will get its own separate review in due course. The all-VG 18mg nic liquid is a transparent pale gold color, with a pleasing but very lightly scented nose that gives no particular indication of the juice’s flavor. Testing was done with a 3.0 ohm Boge SR carto powered by a variable-watt Kicked Bolt set to 9.0 watts RMS.

RY4.5 is a new offering from BlueMistVaping. Although the RY4 that BlueMist has sold for a long time has its loyal fans, that juice is so eccentric that it bears precious little resemblance to a typical RY4. It’s interesting but weird. BlueMist developed RY4.5 to fit a more traditional RY4 flavor profile, and they’ve succeeded in their particular fashion.

RY4.5 lives in the gray zone between a classic and custom RY4 flavor profile. While the tobacco is bright, like a classic RY4, the basic flavors are distinctly separate, like a custom RY4. I didn’t find that the flavors melded at all (which might change with longer steeping, but I doubt it). That’s not necessarily a criticism, however. Beautifully blended RY4s can be delicious, but so can RY4s with distinct flavors. Which kind one prefers is a personal preference rather than an objective criterion.

The question then becomes: If the flavors of BlueMist RY4.5 are distinct and individual, how good are they? For me, they’re, well, OK. Not great, but acceptable in a pinch. The tobacco is not among my favorites, but it passes muster. It's bright and punchy. The vanilla is the best of the base flavors to my palate---smooth and creamy. The caramel is another matter. RY4.5’s caramel flavor reminds me strongly of BlueMist’s Caramel Tobacco liquid, which is a popular and very potent blend. That caramel is bright, candy-like, and artificial tasting to me. Personally, I would prefer a calmer, deeper caramel. Generally, my experience of BlueMist juices is that their flavors are extremely bold rather than subtle, designed for people who like in-your-face flavor intensity.

With RY4s acquired for review, I don’t order extra flavor, because I want to experience the juicemaker’s idea of how the vape should taste. Options of nic strengths and different base ratios may make that intention less valid, since everything we alter about a juice changes the end result, including hardware delivery systems. I thought that choosing 100% VG might diminish RY4.5 expected boldness of the flavor, but it’s still more aggressively flavored than most RY4s I’ve tried. Obviously, vapor production is enhanced with all-VG.

As far as I can tell, BlueMist has achieved its objective. BMV now offers two very different RY4s: one that’s weird but interesting (BlueMist RY4), and the other that’s much more normal and---at least for lovers of intense flavor---moderately acceptable quality (BlueMist RY4.5). In other words, I'm not in love with this RY4, but (as always) your opinion may differ.

BlueMistVaping RY4.5 grade: C-

Oddly enough, RY4.5 has disappeared from the BlueMist web site. At least it was missing when I went to the site just now to copy the URL for a link. I don’t know what that means, but I’ll include an alternate link for the RY4.5 flavoring, which is still for sale: BlueMistVaping RY4.5 flavoring concentrate

Hey guys,

Been awhile!

I need some advice. I need to buy some PG and RY4 flavoring (I'm off nic completely now), and am needing recommendations. What I'm wanting to find is a flavoring that's not overly expensive, and is anywhere from bland to dessert type RY4. As long as it's not of the nutty/piney variety, I should be happy with it. Heck, I'll probably cover my bases and grab some pure caramel, too.

By the by, do any of you suffer from the "can't taste anything" problem? I've read that it's something that usually passes for most people, but for me it seems to be permanent. Anything I vape loses flavor after about 1 bottle, and never returns. It totally sucks, lemme tell ya. Hoping there might be a known remedy to this particular ailment out there somewhere. I'd really love to get back to being able to taste stuff again.

It seems The Perfumer's Apprentice RY4 Double is pretty well thought of.

This flavor is a stronger and more caramel type flavor than our original RY4

Some customers detect a very slight fruity note to this flavor, but others don't.
We also offer RY4 Asian, which has no fruity note.

4ml - $1.40
15ml - $3.80
1 oz - $7.00
4oz - $13.00
