I have been sitting here reading for what seems like hours LOL This is an awesome thread! I have been trying to do some research before I place orders for some of the RY4's.....I have only tried a few and while I like ECBlends, I wouldn't say I fell in love with it. Another one I tried, not sure what it was because I tried it at a B&M...I loved the hints or vanilla and caramel it had, but it also had a very fake (for lack of a better description) tobacco taste..It was a spicy or peppery flavor. I so hope to eventually find an RY4 that the vanilla and caramel are in the drivers seat, while the tobacco is a quiet passenger....There of course but not up front and not spicy or peppery, with a nice sweetness that doesn't take over completely.

I am certain it is here somewhere in this wonderful thread! I intend to read until I find it :) Thank you, Bill for such a wonderful thread and great reviews!

Sunshine,

Thanks for your generous compliments.

Hmm. As is often the case when people try to describe what they want in terms of traits, your list of characteristics is easily understood but challenging to find: You're looking for a custom RY4 that is 1. caramel-rich; 2. vanilla-rich; 3. with a smooth, laid-back or mild tobacco that isn't synthetic or spicy; and 4. sweet, but not dessert sweet.

My guess is that your best bet to narrow the field would be to check out the Category Group for Vanilla Rich. At least, that would be a good starting point.

Here's the Vanilla Rich Group:

CopperCreek Twisted Tobacco
DIYFlavorShack Caramel-Vanilla RY4
FreedomSmokeUSA RY4
MaddcattVapors MaddHatter RYJ4
PrimeVaping PV4
QuickNicVapor RY4
Revolver RY4
Sweet-Vapes RY4

Of those, PrimeVaping PV4 might satisfy most of your criteria. All of PV4's component ingredients are amply flavorful: caramel, vanilla, and tobacco. The tobacco is NET (natural extract tobacco), so while it might be stronger than you'd like, it shouldn't taste artificial. PV4 is also in the Dessert category, but it might not be too sweet for your palate, since the sweetness comes from the richness of the ingredients rather than from added sweetener. But then, recommending a specific RY4 is always a dicey proposition. What seems like a logical choice might not satisfy your taste buds/tongue/nose/brain, so take my recommendation with a large grain of salt.

Anyway, read up on the RY4s in the Vanilla Rich category. If none of those prove appealing, don't despair. I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that an RY4 you'd love does exist. It's just a question of finding it.

Wow, that's really confusing. The flavoring lists PG as an ingredient on the Perfumer's Apprentice page. So does that mean if someone's got a PG allergy, and mixes their own flavors with VG, they're still getting a little PG? (I don't have an allergy, I'm just curious.)

Anywho, anyone have additional suggestions for good sources of RY4 flavorings to try for mixing my own stuff?

Thank you so much, for the starting place! I do very much understand how subjective taste is so there are no guarantees. I had a friend telling me about a wonderful juice that I needed to try, she said it had wonderful hints of vanilla....well, I tried it, and I found no vanilla! My brain said "old perfume" :) I am sure you are right...The flavor I am looking for is out there and I will enjoy the hunt :)

I must say I find your ability to describe the flavors that you find in a juice, pretty awesome! I wish you had a thread for each type of juice...After reading your reviews you stole the top spot for favorite juice reviewer :)

Second the TFA RY4 DOUBLE

How much water are you drinking?(try drinking much more than you think you "need' and see IF it helps?) Also some folks have found that some mouthwash and toothpastes can cause this no taste dilemma I sure hope it improves

Hey guys,

Been awhile!

I need some advice. I need to buy some PG and RY4 flavoring (I'm off nic completely now), and am needing recommendations. What I'm wanting to find is a flavoring that's not overly expensive, and is anywhere from bland to dessert type RY4. As long as it's not of the nutty/piney variety, I should be happy with it. Heck, I'll probably cover my bases and grab some pure caramel, too.

By the by, do any of you suffer from the "can't taste anything" problem? I've read that it's something that usually passes for most people, but for me it seems to be permanent. Anything I vape loses flavor after about 1 bottle, and never returns. It totally sucks, lemme tell ya. Hoping there might be a known remedy to this particular ailment out there somewhere. I'd really love to get back to being able to taste stuff again.

does that mean if someone's got a PG allergy, and mixes their own flavors with VG, they're still getting a little PG? (I don't have an allergy, I'm just curious.)

Most flavorings are PG based. So yes, using a 10% mix of flavoring and the rest VG, the resulting blend would be 10/90 PG/VG.

Those who are allergic to PG have limited choices in flavorings and have to be very careful, since much juice that is called "All-VG" isn't.

Has anyone tried Vaporescence RY4? I was searching for something new to try / review and could not locate it on Bill's big list. So, I took the plunge and placed an order today. Vaporescence states their juices are USA made on site at their facility in Denton, TX.

Unless this is the next best RY4 since a slice of bread, I doubt I will be buying any more due to the price. A 30ml bottle is $16.95, plus the only shipping option is USPS Priority for another $5.95 for a total of $22.90, OUCH. But what the heck, its worth it once to make a contribution to the thread, right?

Thanks, ToweKnee.

Since you mentioned DK TAB, I thought I'd ask you a quesion. I liked vaping DK TAB, but the odor was offputting to me. Do you know of something that is very much like DK TAB, but doesn't have the (pea?)nutty odor?

I have noticed that, while the DKTab is I believe supposed to be "nutty" in flavor, somewhat similar to the 555, every company's iteration of it will be a little different, like all the RY4's mentioned above in this thread. The smells will vary greatly as well. If you like the flavor, maybe try another brand of DKTab and the smell might be much different.

*oops* that is kind of an old post. Darn long threads.

I have ordered a bottle of Volt RY4, and it is great. I use a DCT, and the throat hit is pretty strong. The one down side to Tribeca was that it had almost a buttery aftertaste to me, and while the flavor is similar in complexity and sweetness, the aftertaste is more vanilla and in my opinion much better with Volt.

Smokeless Image Volt RY4 is consistently among the top-rated RY4s on The Big List and a great example of the classic RY4 genre. It goes in and out of my personal Top 10 RY4s depending on what my palate is in the mood for, but even when it drops out of the Top 10 for awhile, it's never very far off. As far as I can tell, SI Volt RY4 is exactly the same juice as Bloog RY4. (At least, I can't taste any difference between them.) If that's true, and they are the same juice, then both are likely sourced from one of the major Chinese juice manufacturers and re-labeled for each vendor.

On Target,

I haven't tried Vaporescence RY4 (probably for the same reason you hesitated, the price). But I look forward to your review and will be happy to add it to The Big List after you review it. You'll need to let me know what Category Groups Vaporescence RY4 fits into, or include that in your review.

Thanks. I wish I could tell you that I have an amazingly refined palate, but it just isn't true. My palate is really pretty average and ordinary. What I do have is a certain facility as a writer, a fairly good vocabulary, and a brain that understands analogy, metaphor, and simile. I try not to just make up stuff in my reviews, but what tends to happen is that I start with a basic feeling for the juice, then latch onto some characteristic of the flavor profile and spin that out in the writing. In other words, my reviews aren't faked, but a certain amount of "smoke and mirrors" is involved. LOL. Mostly, I hope to provide a bit of entertainment for all of us. If my descriptions turn out to have some accuracy by hook or crook, so much the better.

What I have now that's a real bonus where RY4s are concerned is breadth of experience and a large database. After vaping and reviewing more than 100 RY4s, most of my "testing" of new RY4s involves comparison-tasting. Even when my palate gets confused and doesn't quite know what it's experiencing with a specific juice, I can still recognize similarities and differences with other RY4s. That really helps.

I assume that most of us (maybe even all of us) experience sporadic flavor loss with certain juices due to oversaturation, subtle health changes, lack of sleep, or any of a thousand other perfectly good reasons. What makes your situation different, at least as you describe it, is that once this shutdown occurs with a given juice, it never goes away. That's pretty unique, and unusual enough to be considered bizarre.

I have no idea what the causes of or potential cures for that particular malady might be, but I can imagine that it must be a royal pain in the bazooma. The only upside I can see to such a rare problem is that with 10,000 retail juices available in the marketplace and endless others through DIY, you'll be able to go a long, long time at the rate of one bottle per juice before exhausting all the possibilities.

The Perfumer's Apprentice RY4 Double and Want2Vape RY4 meld nicely. TPA brings a little brightness to W2V and conversely, the caramel of TPA is enhanced by the darker notes of that in W2V.

Cool,

That doesn't surprise me at all. Leave it to you to come up with the new DIY Hybrid RY4 Frankenjuice. Congrats! You win the "Gregor Mendel of Vaping" award. (And I mean that in the nicest way...) We can call the award statue "the Genie." LOL.
