That sounds like a horror story. I can't imagine going through that. You're handling it well.

Thank you!

I certainly didn't plan it, and had no choice in the matter. I am just happy I didn't become addicted to the pain meds, it would have been very easy. The doctors were pretty liberal with them, and they were needed. The accident was in December of 2010 so that is a long time to be taking them. I just hate the side effects more than the pain sometimes, so just didn't move a lot (thus the weight gain). The good news is, the doctors say I am healed enough for the total knee replacement I still need

I think the hardest part was when "friends" stopped calling or coming by, I couldn't drive for a year when it was wired because I couldn't bend the leg. Ever try to drive a car with an extended leg? Then they started with the "shouldn't you be better by now?". Like I was doing something to extend my misery on purpose? The friends I have now are tried and true :)

I guess in some ways it allowed you to see the true nature of the people around you.

Got some 27 kanthal coming, going to try those micro coils again. $9 including postage, thought it was a cheap way to entertain myself.

I just got some in today and made a new coil because I thought mine needed it. Turned out the screw was loose, so I put the new one away and just kept my old one. I kind of like this coil, had it for so long I might miss it when it is gone
