Morning all and happy Sunday. I ordered some 1mm eckowool for my RM2. Have not received it yet but would like to know if there is anything that I need to know prior to using it. Do you have to boil it first? Torch it? etc. Also what I ordered was hollow. I hope that is what I was supposed to order. I guess I was not aware that both hollow and solid are available. I have been using sterile cotton in my coils and use darkzero's jig for making my coils. I normally like 28g kanthal at about 1.5ohms. I am hoping I will be able to wick this thru the coil without difficulty. Any suggestions from the experts here????

i blowtorch wick and coil anyway - it helps reduce the spring in the wire and burns any oils or grease off.

All that stuff is hollow - it's used as shielding/protection for electrical cables and is measured by the inside diameter - the hollow bit! I found that to thread it it was easiest if dipped in a bit of liquid and kinda corkscrewed into the coil - seems to fray less.

It's good stuff, wicks pretty well (not as fast as cotton) but can be dry burned and lasts for ages, by which i mean weeks and weeks.

Thanks guys! Your always here to help me out! I will let you know how it goes when I get it. I am liking the cotton fine but sometimes burn it. So thought I would try the eckowool. Seems like I go thru 4X the juice using the RM2 vs the shorty cartos. Maybe because I fear burning the cotton and over squonking even though I know the juice goes back into the bottle. But sure do go thru more juice than with the carto's.

Well after yesterday's debacle with the liquid i'm going to stick with something i know today.

I once bought bacon flavour concentrate - it was ghastly!

I got suckered into buying the bacon flavoring as well *shudder* I couldn't believe something that sounded so delicious could smell/taste so utterly vile :(
