I have skype credit to use up. I needed some for when dw didn't have wifi it was cheaper to buy 14 wort of credit than it was to phone her. I still have about $10 left lol. It was still cheaper. It's just like a regular call if I call you. I don't have a landline just cell here so I don't do much long distance I don't even know what my rates to USA are lol.

Darrel, do you really rely on voice over IP services like Skype? Doesn't that make you nervous because I dunno if you can call 911/police/emergency without a hardline or cell. Does Canada have a 911? I don't know anything about Skype or anything tech-fancy because my wifi is weak sometimes so I imagine video conferencing with me will be like traveling back to 1994 with Netscape 'n RealPlayer with choppy pixalization (I'll let te geeks chime in)

It's only 0110 here, I can't fathom morning yet. I haven't even gone to bed, DH fell asleep in the recliner and I fell asleep on the couch (again). Then when I woke up had to take the dog out since he sneaked off to bed and I have no idea if he took her out or not. We are just a really go-getter type couple aren't we? But he did stay up really late last night to watch SOA so at least he has an excuse. I didn't sleep well last night because my little one is pissing blood, so I guess I needed the rest too.

It works just like a regular phone if you call a regular phone, without the long distance costs. He doesn't want to use the regular phone due to the long distance charges. I have used it to talk to someone in Canada, and it worked great for the price since we both are on skype it was free.

VOIP does not mean you do not have 911 service. I have had phone service through Comcast for about 7 years now. I have 911 service through them. (Basically Vonage and Comcast are the same type service, just different companies.) So, it kind of depends on what type of phone service you get as to whether you have 911 or not.
