What is a stabilized reo?

Mogi stabilized is when a wood that is normally to knot filled or to weak to use as it is, is vacuum injected with resins and sometimes dyed to make it a solid useable piece of wood. It is extremely rare to see pieces of wood as big as a REO dyed and stabilized. It's what the green and blue's and red's that you see occasionally on here are. Like the green ones on the page before this.

I got my first one recently thanks to two very wonderful people here on this forum. I love it dearly. I knew I would like it just for the beauty meets function factor but I have to tell ya it's far more then that. I can honestly say I was on a non stop hunt for one until I got it. Now it feels like my REO collection is satisfactorily (if not temporarily) complete. I'm not even interested in more until wood sale night. Then I won't buy another until I can get a stabilized or a really good deal on more Woodvils'! lol

Did Rob ever say if he would do any stabilized again?

Evening Cheri. I don't recall him saying he would or would not.

I do remember he said it would take to long on this run. He would have had to order the wood. He also said he had plenty wood that he wanted to use.

I personally do not care if Robert ever makes more stabilized REO's.

Now I realize that I do own two already so that is not really fair. But I do not want more of them.

They don't feel like other wood REO's. Yes they are all beautiful colors. It is just that I find the natural feel of wood grain more appealing than a wood that feels slick as glass. Also prefer natural colors to artificially colored wood.

Guess it is the reason I like the wood REO's better than the metals. There is just something about a once living piece of nature that appeals to me.

Wow Karen that is the real deal Stabilized, DenDen the one you just picked up from Chinner is another outrageous example of the really unique colors the stabalized woodvils posses.

I know for sure we haven't seen the last of the stabilized REOs. ;)

I am counting on that cause my collection won't be complete until I have one!!

That's it for me folks gotta be up at 3:30am central time. Have a good night all hopefully I'll be around more often again now that things are settling down for the holidays.
