GF means 'girlfriend'?

T

I make antibodies to gluten, and I get sick when I eat it, so I have to have gluten free or GF. For me it isn't a fad sorry to say. I just am getting over an episode from last Sunday. I had a fever, was curled up in the fetal position in pain and had to go on a liquid diet for 4 days until the pain went away. I had to cancel my Thursday night dinner because that was my first night of baby food. Today, a week later, I finally had some real food.

So GF is not my girlfriend!

Gregorian Chant - Benedictine Monks - Church Music - YouTube

i did latin too and my family motto is "semper in excretum sund profundum variat" which loosely translated (in the same casual fashion i do Dutch) means 'always in the sh....varying only in depth'.

What you have described happening to you I have witnessed first hand.

When my grand daughter was a baby she would have spells when she would scream and cry for hours. Even though she was totally breastfed at the time. Her intolerance to gluten was so bad that consuming milk that came from her Mom, who ate gluten in foods, affected her. Fortunately my daughter figured it out and changed her diet.

My grand daughter has Celiac Disease. The family has had to eliminate all gluten from the house. Foods that contain gluten can't even be prepared around my grand daughter. She will have symptoms from airborne particles.

It is a very serious disease. Anyone having a gluten intolerance must always be aware of all ingredients in foods they consume.

I have eliminated gluten from my daily diet since learning of the problems it can cause. I can/do "cheat" on occasion though.

Aw, I am so sorry to hear about your grand baby! At least your daughter was able to find it and eliminate it! Sounds like she is really sensitive to it. They say it is genetic, and in some people it manifests in other ways than stomach ails. Have you been checked? If you feel better GF, then maybe you have it also? I get the rash too, and it was actually the rash that cinched it for me to be tested :(
I also have diverticulosis, which I think may have been caused by the gluten but who knows for sure? It was one or the other, and either way I had to do the liquid diet. If I hadn't been able to get the fever down, or if the screaming pain (so bad I was actually nauseous) continued past 24 hours I would have had to go to ER for a CT scan to see if it was diverticulitis or a gluten attack. Last time I was in the hospital for 4 days of IV antibiotics, and I try everything I can to avoid that! I did accidentally eat some gluten on Sunday. I ordered a stir fry and told the dude only sriracha and ginger, but he put teriyaki sauce in it so I told the management that they could seriously poison someone like me arbitrarily adding things not ordered to the food. I have to have teriyaki sauce made from GF soy sauce, and I can pretty much guarantee theirs isn't.

as soon as Laurin crawls his way above the stupor resulting from his dinner with his ex, you will receive a proper welcome:)

gluten is one of them words i refuse to even google.

i once made the mistake of looking up cholesterol...

and i've recently been told that soy and tofu are prolly bad for me.

sheesh. i'm a bottom-feeder. i should be able to eat crap...

It's a protein found in wheat, barley and rye. Almost every processed food has gluten added, so it's a good thing I cook from scratch. And that means no pasta, pizza, sandwiches or canned soups unless I source them GF and they charge dearly for it since there is very little competition and they know we will pay. Progresso makes GF soups though, and don't price gouge!

Restaurants and food makers have caught on, and a lot more stuff is coming out gluten free. If I want to go out to eat, I have to plan what I am going to order before I go or check the menu carefully. Or order a salad with no croutons and limited ingredient dressing like oil and vinegar that they can't muck up. Some places simply aren't designed to be GF, and I had to skip 2 parties so far this holiday season because the venues don't offer anything I can eat except iceberg lettuce in a bowl. So it actually was a good time to get sick, made me feel better about not going
