Across here, a cane, hasn't got the crook on the end, it's got a knob on top, the toffs(rich folk in olden days), used to use them with there top hat, & tails, ordinary people had walking sticks, started off as cut down shepherds crooks
Frank

Yep DH's is like that. He doesn't use it much but he is proud of it!

Is anyone else having mysterious problems with posts "disappearing"? I commented on Lisa's post and got an error, and it isn't posted. Oh well, wasn't that important I guess

I wasn't having any problems, but last night there were people that were. I think they are working on things.

Pat I bought a refurb Electrolux and so far its lasted 20 years. Electrolux Silverado Deluxe Canister Vacuum Cleaner Accessories 616469461025 | eBay

Good Friday all. Quick drop by. I got an Electrolux Silver canister in early 80's. Loved it so much picked up a used, reconditioned one on eBay about 15 years ago for about $100 with all new attachments including powered rug attachment. Mine have been used in extreme conditions for many years. Old style hose is pretty stiff but the one that came with refurb is different material and much more flexible. I've had many, many cleaners and still have several. These have stellar suction. They are heavy but roll around well. Only other issue I have is the bags fill up pretty fast in my extreme environment and as our dust is microscopic and unbelievable amounts the suction does suffer when bag is about 2/3 full but I challenge anyone to have as much dust as we have with a herd of dogs coming and going 24/7 in our outside dust bowl. I purchase the bags by the 100 on eBay.

Old one has been to shop twice in 30 years for wellness checkup (internals cleaning) and replacement of self wind cord. Cord was working but I had repaired it and it was being cranky rewinding.

When floors are really bad I get out the shop vac. (My new shop vac is quieter than most vacuums I've ever owned.) Not that Electrolux can't handle but the bags fill up so fast.

Be safe and well, Feisty Alice

I can respect that Frank. That was actually the reason I hinted to it because I already have a hawaiian newspaper from Norman. This would have been a good keepsake from Frankie. Anything else would just be considered a "cane" to me. But if you ever win the lottery just don't forget about chats buddy! God help me what davelog from arizona may include with the wood polish, hope it's legal!

RHP
Fret not, pal. The only thing I threw in with the Howard's was a coupla bottle buddy pouches that I have an abundance of! I'm heading out the door to the post office (and a new vape shop that opened up on this side of town) as we speak!

I am! It is my birthday weekend so I take an extra day off. :D
Happy birthday, Brett! I'm takin' the day off too!

This is the powered rug attachment. There are more for sale on eBay that include the powered attachment. Vtg Electrolux Vacuum Cleaner Power Nozzle Wands Only Silverado Deluxe 903H | eBay

I have one of these. I highly recommend it especially for stairs, odd small places, and deepest cleaning of car rugs. When I tried to find another one years ago I couldn't find one. Just happened on this one on eBay. Five more left. Sidekick Electrolux Aerus Vacuum Handheld Attachment Car Stairs Power Nozzle New | eBay

I just picked up 100 bags. You can get smaller quantities. For 100 they come out costing about $0.50 each. Last bags I've purchased, four per package, retail, were about $4-5 for the four (maybe more). Electrolux Style C Canistor Vacuum Bags 4 8 12 16 24 48 or 100 Bags | eBay In a "normal" home you can probably get a full month use from one bag. The brick and mortar bags do have a bit more linings and some with odor control. We have so much dust, dander, sand, hair, debris, etc., the extras in bags aren't really needed. I put some little smell good crystals in last bag that will be left in vacuum til next use. Walmart does have the bags.

I think RHP is looking for a more affordable, bagless product. Or at least that is what I read.

DH has a very, very old Kirby. Pay a bundle once and they last forever if you take them in for a tune up when needed (I think he does it about once a decade!) I have heard of people fighting over the vacuum in divorces! I just use the "disposable" vacuums you can get for about $100 since they are so much lighter. But you are going to have to replace them more frequently than an electrolux or other high end models that are made for lifelong use. Just like anything else, you get what you pay for. Kind of like an ego vs. a REO.

My dogs don't come into the house unless they are wiped down first - body and paws - and we don't wear shoes inside either. I would go crazy cleaning up with the light carpet he has in the house if we didn't do that. The dust here in the desert is unbelievable, and even washing the dog frequently, wiping down before they come in and sleeping on their own washable blankets STILL brings in the allergans that make me miserable! For the condo, I have dark maroon carpet through most of it but white in the bedroom and it stays white because no dogs, no shoes, no food, no drinks. I use the ego vacuum there and it works just fine because I am a nazi about what comes in my door
