yep thats unusual may need to do the nose rub in it that would be like a last resort imo but it can work too. honestly most important is you have to be the boss before anything

Use a small kennel where she has little space, just enough to lay down, dogs won't poo where they sleep. Please don't rub her nose in it.

Lenny has been an Iams dog for over 13 years and been pretty healthy for his age.
Since the attack I had been feeding him boiled chicken ran through a food processor so it would go through a syringe and tube.
The swelling has gone down and thought he can't open his mouth enough to eat from a bowl, he is eating small bites when I hand feed him.
I've fed him ground deer meat, canned lamb & rice and some Spam "for the fat and calories" in the last 2-3 days.
He wouldn't take any solids until I cooked a deer burger for myself and offered him some, then I had to cook more for him.
Hope he doesn't think this catering, cooking and hand feeding is permanent. :glare:

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

I'm so happy Lenny is doing better. I believe he will keep getting better everyday, little by little!!
When my lab got sick, we had to hand feed for about 10 days, I thought to myself is he better and messing w/me, lol.

My Teacup Chihuahua (Hallie'Peno) is two now. We had to keep a close eye on her for a year til she was totally house broken. Little dogs can find tiny places to piddle. She has it down now and let's us know when she's gotta go. If we have to leave her in her kennel for a long time she sometimes has an accident on her blanket. Chihuahuas are very sensitive doggies, my husband will scold her and she won't come to him for a week. I just firmly say no and she always listens to me. She is also an obsessive licker, but a firm 'no lick' and she stops (she caught on to this one quickly)

Mike and I have emailed back and forth. We have figured out she hates grass. I have taken her out to the driveway outside the fenced in yard and I can now say she is ...... outside. Still working on the other but we have progress!

I'm losing my hair folks! And my mind. I need to talk to Jack, how much he charge per hour for talk therapy? Nevermind, I'll look it up.

RHP

Sweetie, I think your mind is working so very hard that heat is building up and your hair is reacting! Stop thinking so much!

I forgot about grass!! Took awhile to even get her in our yard area where there is grass. In the beginning it was always the sidewalk!! Wished I remembered that for you. She caught on to the grass after awhile cause she watched our other fur babies do it. Keep doing what ur doing little doggies take more time IMO

I'm glad the little one is going outside now :) sometimes the oddest thing can be the cause of a behavioral issue. I had a case recently where a retriever all of a sudden completely disliked the family's little girl. It turns out she had started wearing a perfume the dog found repulsive :D

Keep me posted on her progress!

Good night everyone

Made more progress this evening than in 2 weeks. Have had only one mistake since I have taken her to the driveway. But we are having a little problem that she isn't used to the leash yet.

My chihuahua still does not like a traditional leash, even a small dog leash. We tried retractable for little dogs too. I finally bought some hearty ribbon from a craft store. A long piece folded in half (long enough to give her a little length to roam). I tied several knots along length to keep it from getting all twisted up, a knot at top so I can loop my hand around it.. On her end I added one of these image.jpg
a very small, light weight version of this. Clip it to her collar and off we go, tomorrow I'll PM you a pic of our leash so you get a better idea :)

Thanks! This is the smallest puppy I have ever had so any tips are definitely welcome.

I know what you mean she was my first tiny puppy too, she only weighed 1 pound when we got her. So darn cute!! I have such a soft spot for dogs --if my husband didn't put his foot down at 3 I would have at least 1 more :)

Edit: my favorite thing about my chi is that she is so easy to give a bath :) just get the water temp right and it is like rinsing a dinner plate, lol, much easier then our 110 pound lab that's for sure!

Good morning, REOville:)!

I truly feel lucky to have gotten to know Carol a little through cappy's portrait of her in these pages, and to have gotten to see the very special relationship that the two of them shared. It's warmed my heart and those of others in this thread. I doubt very much he'll read our sentiments, but I hope Ray knows how many of us hold him in our hearts right now.

Mornin REOville! Went yesterday with my friend to lunch, Petco, Bed, Bath & Beyond and KC's first (that I've found) dedicated E-cig shop. The shop is a Volcano shop, so they didn't have much in the way of equipment other than Volcano branded stuff, no batteries for mods or anything like that, but hey, it's a start! I did buy 2 bottles of liquid because I have have a confession to make, I've been smoking. After work got crazy and I got diagnosed last summer, I just kinda lost it, and started smoking again. I've been using my REOs daily, but not exclusively. Thought some new flavors might help me to throw away the cigs again, it hasn't been as easy quitting as it was the first time, but I'll get there. This shop is north of the river, but not too far from my friends place, so that's good to know. The shop owner wasn't there, but his wife was, they have juices you can test in tanks so that was very nice, they have a TV and a couch sitting area for people to relax in and the shop was well organized and clean. The owner's wife is very pleasant, and was impressed with my REO, asked about where to get one so gave her the info, I wish I had one of Rob's cards in my purse, but I didn't, will put some in there for the next person who asks. That was the first time I had vaped on a tank, can't say I was impressed since I'm used to a REO, but being able to try the juices was a plus.
Used a 20% off coupon and got a Spot Bot Pet at BB&B, so that's my project for this afternoon, this carpet is looking worse since I got new floors in the kitchen and baths, and it will be some time before I can afford to replace the carpet, hope it works as good as the reviews say it does.
Have a great Sunday!

Good morning all.

I am much different than all of you when it comes to dogs. They are dogs, and dogs belong outside patrolling the perimeter. They don't live inside, that is where people and a cat live. They come inside a lot, don't get me wrong. But the yard is their primary realm.

When we first got this dog, she pee'd inside a lot. I had already taken her to a vet, but apparently they missed the urinary tract infection that I promptly diagnosed when the poor girl pee'd so often. It is really unfair to the dog to scold her for pee'ing with a UI. After the UI was gone, we commenced training. But she always comes to get ME when she wants to go outside and lets DH sleep. She is getting spoiled too, I started bringing her in more and she thinks she belongs inside instead of doing her job of keeping the yard safe. Which is, of course, all my fault. I have to remind myself often that she belongs outside since she spends 80% of the time inside instead of the other way around. Did I mention that dogs belong outside patrolling the perimeter? It's true, really it is...

I hope everyone is having a great weekend and staying safe!
