I'll try shaving with one eye closed tomorrow! ;)

My mother's uncle was a barber in New Jersey, (Perro Como, who was a barber before he became known as a singer was actually one of his best friends), explained to me, many, many years ago that the secret to a close, smooth shave is to get the face as hot as possible. If you're old enough to remember getting a shave with a straight razor at the barber you'll remember that the first thing they did was wrap your face with a steaming hot towel and let it take effect for several minutes. Makes all the difference in the world.

They used to, (may still do), make machines that you inserted your favorite shaving cream into and it dispensed steaming hot lather. I've had a couple of them over the years and they actually worked very well, (I like a shaving cup and brush better), but it's been several decades since I've shaved more than my beard outline.

A high quality straight razor, leather strop, shaving cup and brush makes a daily shave something to look forward to. (Takes a while to learn how to do it correctly but it's worth the trouble.)

Hey Jack! Yea I did a lot of research on how safety razor shaving was done since the turn of the century. Today I used a small, thick towel rung out just a bit and put in the micro for 15 seconds. I'm pretty sure thats why I got such a great shave. Ive never had a straight razor shave but always wanted to. Now that you've got my mind on it, I'm gonna go find an old time barber and get one. Just to see what its like. Thanks for that! Can I ask how you shave now?

Hi Dee! Long time no see. Hope you're well!

I am getting better all the time, still not able to return to work, darned doc won't give me a full release. But I now have another gig going. My sister is very ill and I have been taking over her business which entailed having to build a new site and lots of legal fun. But I am up and running biz wise and taking a week or two for myself and dumped it all on my friend :p Nice girl huh!,

OH OH I almost forgot A brand new vape store opened not far from me so stopped in to see what they had. I had my 18490 with me and they were all oh oh got to have one of those, plus the guy give ECF members 15% off and he had great RY4 even though I make my own juice had to try it. So told the Reo story and web site, they were thrilled. Then today found another new vape store way cool, will check them out next.

Probably the most important thing with using a straight razor is having one with quality steel and keeping it sharp which takes an experienced professional sharpener to do. The good thing is unless you drop it and damage it you only have to do it once a year or so.

Daily stropping makes for a very smooth and comfortable shave and having that long leather strop hanging from the bathroom wall looks cool as hell and makes visitors to your bathroom wonder what you and the wife/girlfriend are up to.

Back when I did shave daily I always showered first, this gave the stubble and face a chance to absorb the hot shower water. The hotter the face and stubble the less drag which results in a smoother shave.

Now I'm just a lazy slug so I just outline my beard with an electric beard trimmer. If I happen to be taking out a lay that I have a particular interest in I'll shave my neck and upper cheek areas with lather and a safety razor. Makes for a very neat appearance but luckily I don't run into that many women that fall into that category.

And good luck Dee. Hope there comes a point when you will fill us in on the details of your new biz. And maybe give us a link to your site. ;)

Just a side note here....I found out not too long ago that we can't post links to our own business sites as it's considered advertisement. So be sure to PM Dee directly if you want the link. :) You'll notice, that's why I haven't posted the links to my books anymore.
