Unless your cable is connected to your computer instead of a router then you're fine with norton. That's because the router is blocking a lot of things especially traffic LEAVING your computer (backdoors wont work), me sneaking into your 'puter and saying GOOD MORNING JEN (wont work), etc.
But when it comes up for renenwal next year, save your money. Replace it with security essentials which is microsofts free a/v. Truth be told, once you're infected the only true recourse is a bare metals wipe off your system and reinstalling.
Jen, I wish more folks were like you and payed closer attention to what they do on the web and through email. Wouldn't hurt if they payed attention to backing up/restoring data than they do with antiviruses or malware apps. Disposible item these days computers are, most folks buy a new system every year.
I read somewhere virus trends can me measured based on how many geeks companies like Symmantec and Mcafee have laid off that year.
