I've had more tickets than I like to think about! Finally learned my lesson and drive...well, I would say I drive like a grandmother, but my Nana is a speed demon! ;)

DH is certainly a Gramps. Only bad thing, if we won the lottery, he'd get another Porche. At least he's lusting for a sedan. I had learn to drive like an open fish bowl on front seat, carrying GIANT dogs so much. They don't do well with fast turns or quick starts and stops. Becomes a habit. And I do MAJOR GLOAT and rub it in that only speeding ticket I've ever gotten was first week we had the Porche. He's started the very annoying 6 hr. course on big TV. It's animated with cartoon characteres. I'm splitting to kitchen to cook.

Kicker to my speeding ticket.... I was coming home from radar detector store. Next day, when I went back to buy one, the cop who issued the ticket was in store buying one. (DH just refreshed my memory about that.)

My younger Brother just got his licence back again from losing it due to speeding and no seat belts this is like the 5-6th time hes had it suspended for the same it blows my mind to see him still drive with no belt

I know this sounds really morbid...... when we were kids my parents would take us to where spectacularly horrendous, fatality crashed cars were carried to, soon after crash, when all the gore and smells still fresh. Made a HUGE impression on us!!!!!

Years before I worked in the autowrecking the guys would send me up the back yard to go thru the wrecks to see if I could find any fingers etc that was before they cleaned cars out before the wreckers got them. Ive seen the carnage and know it all to well I still dont like driving small cars even though they are way safer now than they used to be

I didn't buy one but when I was putting huge miles on I was gonna buy a top of the line radar detector and lazer Jammer. The jammer is necessary here now several of the districts are mostly lazer now.

It's gotten really hard to beat all the new ways they can catch you now and how creative the cops are. There is one stretch I-35 between Dallas and Austin, that is a major trap by local town cops. Last speed sign is miles before the "city limits" sign, 75 mph, and you don't see another till way beyond, 75 mph. Always see cars pulled over. Going thru there DH puts Cruise control on 70. He's gotton a couple tickets, over the years, going <80 in a 75 zone. Or back then <70 in a 65.

I like that my PT Cruiser is so weighty except the 4-cylinder engine only gets 20mpg. My last, and most damanaging concussion, black out, long and short memory loss and permanent, and speech difficulties for over a year, was a minor rear end to my big heavy truck, me driving. Trucks don't crumple and absorb forces like cars. I had on seat belt but got whiplash. Of course it didn't help that that was my fifth documented concussion with probably more earlier ones training horses.

Three years ago a woman, going 40mph, rear ended DH, stopped at light. No one was hurt but totaled her car. Acura crumpled perfectly and no damage to frame so we still have it. For a change person had insurance. Of course it's the law but lots of peeps don't have insurance.

What kind of dogs? Grew up with a pack of boxers, miss the big goofy guys! Just my aging German Shepherd and my kitty now, place is kind of too small for any more family, but I kind of miss the chaos of a bunch of overgrown pups gallomphing around all the time!
