If you had norton on there, and did the simple un-install, you didn't completely remove norton. That is the reason it is still slow. Norton is still trying to control everything on your computer.Now I have, installed and run for infections, Malwarebytes and AVG....no issues found...but it's still slower than molasses in Jan.
Next I'm going to go install Adobe flash Player ( tho I thought I already had it) and Java...

regardless of which browser you use, your profile should not have elevated privileges, your daily computer activity should be under a user account with user rights.
Only use an admin account for administrative tasks.. (installing programs) updates and the like...

I run MSSE and its been great. Once in a while I run CCleaner and the registry cleaner thingy in CCleaner as well.
what error are you getting? have you tried downloading chrome? https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/

So, y'all are saying I should uninstall and read up on how to completely uninstall Norton? I need to start getting as much speed as I can for the upcoming Woodvil sale. Bloatware doesn't sound good.

short version- yes...
i use MSSE on all my Win7 stuff (as well as my newest Win8 box, which i detest). i have a few XP machines floating around that use Avast.
i might actually have more computers than Reos, tho the day of reckoning is coming...
Poor Kay - I would be in the same boat as you if I had computer problems. I know NOTHING about them! Hopefully you get all fixed up. I would be lost without my pc! Hugs
there use to be a utility that helped to completely remove norton i think it would be on symantecs site
Since you guys have been offering computer advice, I'll ask a question. Seems one of my Facebook friends clicked on the wrong bunch of stupid and got me (and others) on some horrific spam list. All at once I'm getting 50 to 75 per day. I don't need male enhancement, payday loans, cheap life insurance, etc. and I'm damn sure I didn't win any lottery because I'm way too cheap to play. Any easy way out of this mess without changing my email address?

Thanks Scott, I was afraid that was the answer. The people that spam and hack should be hunted down IMO. Not like law enforcement hunted, like rednecks after deer hunted!
