i like the xc-116 and my fat silica candle-wicks the best. 26g kanthal is nice to work with too. I have been playing with a lot of different builds over the last month, such that i have no spare atties left today to wick - and that's scary.

Just the taste is a little off. I think the cotton is giving me a headache The cuts are healing ok not going to be fully healed by Monday though
Well glad to hear you are on the mend - why don't you just replace the cotton? they tell me it's a 2 minute operation although i don't use it myself.

It's 2 minutes to wrap and install another coil and wick. However it may be the cotton itself
Not sure what cotton you're using, but the sterile type gave me troubles too (off taste and headaches). However organic cotton balls don't bother me at all.
well there's one sure-fire way to find out for certain.
I don't use cotton but a few do and a few others use things as diverse as bamboo and hemp. I'm a plain silica man myself. What kind of coils are you making?

i have used cotton from a (unused before you all flame me!) q-tip that languished in the bottom of a handbag. I was stuck in an hotel and forgot my wick supplies!
Worked ok for a day - like all cotton. If i am ever stranded on a desert island without Ursula Andress to sing the mango song with, then q-tips are the business!

Ok so now I want to try ekowool in my RM2. Can you wick it thru like you do cotton using darkzero's jig? If anyone has a little of it that they could spare for me to try I would be willing to trade something, pay shipping, etc??????
Yes, not nearly as easy as feeding through a micro as cotton but Ekowool is all I use in my Reos & builds for friends.
I can thread the 1mm ekowool through coils made with the larger 1/16 dowel on the DZ jig. I only got 2' to try but will be ordering more.

Wow those are like picture perfect coils you build! I guess I am going to have to get some eckowool to try out. I just need to use your jig I can not wrap freestyle over the wick!

I don't wrap over the ekowool either, I did when I first started using it & not with micros. Torching the ekowool makes it temporarily stiff & allows you to feed it through the micro. .055" ID coils is the smallest I use 1mm ekowool with.
temporary stiffness is all some of us can attain! I'm more an 'it's a kinda magic" fan Cheri.

No, I did those before I made the jig (pictured below). Wrapped around the same music wire that I use in the jigs. With the jig there's no need to even torch the Kanthal first.
I can make one fit 1/8" but I don't have that size, largest that has ever been requested is 3mm & I still have some. R41 is what I specifically made the jig for, it just happended to make everything else much easier.
I'm gonna be in so much sheet when dw wakes. Gatlin put his hand in a bucket of old engine oil then tried to shake it all off and got it all over his brand new clothes. I hope it all comes out
