After the tornados in Wickes and Cove, several friends reporting on local forum that they've received 10+ inches of rain since 2 pm may 31st.

I have never seen or heard of this much rain here in decades. We were w/out long distance and cell phone service til earlier this morning

but the worst thing is that the NOAA weather radios have not worked thru-out this mess. I don't know if the responders got struck by lightning, or if part of the equipment went underwater?

We rely on the weather radios and then they don't work during the storms. I think the one that services us is at the airport, but not sure. This happened last time there was tornados and heavy rains, so I'm going to contact NOAA because I think the equipment is not working as it should? Perhaps an upgrade to whatever infrastructure exists is necessary.

does anyone have similar experiences?

Once upon a time here, i had a little battery powered tv that was great. But then they discontinued analogue tv and so it no longer gets a picture - it's all digital and how good is that when the first thing to die in a power failure is the tv and cable modem? It pains me to think of all the great high-definiton pictures i am missing as i sit in the dark, cursing them.

To answer your question - i'm not sure anything will work reliably in those weather conditions apart from my Reo and HRH's bargain-hunting!

Well, since I can't see the body well, my guess is the same. Bocote door and Purpleheart body. Perhaps Brazilian Cherry/Jatoba, but most likely purpleheart.. :)

Looks a lil' like the zebra/purpleheart to me.

So I just spent the past hour building a coil for the RM2. I need lots of work on my skills, after 5 tries the closest I got to my preferred 1.7 - 2.0 is 1.0, so that will be a must. BUT! I thought it was just me, I could not get a good vape with the A7minis I have. No matter what I tried, vaping with a carto was miles better. I kept seeing all these RBA's putting out huge plums and I was just barely getting any vape at all. I am getting fog bank worthy vapor from this RM2! And it tastes wonderful! Anyone interested in some unused A7 minis?

yeah when i used to hustle poker for a living, there were times when I crunched the numbers and realized I'd have made more money per hour working at UPS
When I first started working in kitchens instead of waiting tables I took a pay cut, then I graduated college and took another pay cut. Thankfully the after college pay cut only lasted while I was in training.

I did one right around 2000. But it was a diff world back then. Paid like 83 for the house and sold for 139k in around 2 months. Dont have that much invested in this one but market sucks. I think the secret is finding one that looks worse than it really is. (ie. structural, roof, up to code, etc.) I'm lucky to have a retired inspector/builder who really knows his stuff. Same guy who mentored me on the first one. But still probably wont realize the profit of my earlier flip. I'll be even more forthcoming and tell you all that I had to sell my beloved Harley and this is me trying to continue my business with an risky venture. Big roll of the dice for me. (calls a 7 but rolls a 5?) I may have to change my nick to "SoupKitchen05".:shock:
Fingers crossed for you! Seems to me that the folks that work hard and have good common sense make money on flips...so you should be raking in the dough before you know it!

Glad to hear you're okay, worried about a lot of friends in Norman OK and OKC.

My county (Polk) as well as Cross, Montgomery, Poinsett, Scott and Van Buren Counties were declared as state disaster areas today.

It was a terrible night and our neighboring county sheriff died helping people get out of their homes in flood waters, along with the game warden who is still missing.

We still don't have long distance service, but there are a lot of trees down and bridges washed out and part of highways were closed that were in floodwaters (US 71) but are opened now.

God bless the first responders and LEOs and all the brave people that help others during these emergencies and put their lives at risk for us!
So sorry to hear of another tragedy. Glad to hear you are okay.
Hi Reo friends! This is what generous Julie n Rob sent me today!!! A gorgeous coffee cup which happen to be my colors, three kinds of cookies..macadamia nut, HUGE chocolate chunk cookies, and the brown ones are SO delicious, but I'm stumped as to what they're called, but I sure want the recipe...and they're square which is so cool!
As if that's not enough, they also made me a picture album of the OK vape meet.....

yes...I AM special!!!!:D
Beautiful and sweet!

Jen, you have a touch for photography and making beautiful flower arrangements.....must be a fantastic gardener and maybe even a better fisherman than me ;)
With so many talented, true photographers in REOvil I hate to even say photography with what I do...I just take pictures. Gardening seems to come pretty natural, and flowers kind of arrange themselves.
 What I mean to say is thank you.

Davelog- Congrats to you and Sunny on the new mini's! My Dad is dropping a Mustang engine in his Jeep. Just thought you two might get a giggle from that.

I'm getting a bit worried about all these record and near record bad weather reports of late. Hawaii hasn't seen a bad quake, hurricane or tsunami in years so keeping everything crossed here. Might be a good time for me to look for an emergency generator although where I'm at in case of an island wide blackout the power plant nearest to us is always the first to go online again. Anyone know of a unit that'll supply basic needs if my new place has a photovoltaic system?
