Typical Monday, Brett :)

Hi Val! :) Sounds like the old adage "you got to pay to play" still holds weight. I sure hope you can go play and enjoy yourself...you deserve it.

Meeting went fine, but it's annoying that I traveled over 100 miles for a 5 minute discussion that could have been done over the phone. Oh well, it's what he needed to feel good, so I'm glad I could help. *sigh* :) Backing up my computer before I start building ads. Learning the ins and outs of these "auto backup drives" is a pain, but hopefully worth it in the end.

Valerie, are you close to that wildfire in Lancaster County? Stay safe if you are.
As a matter of fact, yes I am. It is actually not Lancaster County, but a city. We are in LA county. We have ashes all over the cars, the sky is a brilliant orange at sunset. The wind is blowing the opposite direction, so today isn't as bad as the other day when we could actually see the flames. The area it is in has a lot of livestock, so they were evacuated to the fairgrounds. The park a few miles away has Red Cross set up for the evacuees, and everyone did such an outstanding job of delivering needed items that they won't take any more!

As soon as the wind changes, the sky will darken again though. The wind is pretty bad today too, so it isn't helping them contain it. Last I heard this morning, it was only 40% contained. I put a picture of the Poppy Preserve up here a while ago, and they mentioned on the news that some of that was burned.

If you look at the map at the bottom of the article and zoom out once, you will see the green horse which is the fairgrounds, and the red cross. Between the 2 and towards the fire is where I am. The video I pasted of the wind was filmed where it shows the 138. And that wind is a bear when fighting fires!

I was thinking those fires are really getting started early this year. Stay safe! I would be outside with a water hose. That's why I live in town....it would have to burn this whole mother down for it to get to me.

It really isn't all that close, we have had closer! The wind just brings the ashes and smoke to us, and a lot of people are complaining of respiratory problems. The sunsets are spectacular though! There was a picture in the link I posted of the sunset. The other night it got dark really early too  One of the people going up to the lake lives much closer, and was told to evacuate, then not to, then to, then not too... after putting the bikes in the trailer twice, she is just leaving them loaded for now and hoping the wind doesn't change. Last I heard, she is not cancelling her plans to go to the rally

If I had any to send, I would. However, we're enjoying mid 60s and sunny skies.

Hi RF!
Have been thinking about you lately, and the Skagit River bridge collapse. Hope it hasn't affected you too much. What did Wash DOT decide to do? are they putting in a temp bridge for now or rebuilding?

My dad powered his pleasure trawler from Camano Island to Virginia Beach a couple years ago and said the Skagit Bay/ Port Susan area around Whidbey Is. is just gorgeous. I hope to visit someday. Would love to visit all those state parks too! I would love to live up there in the lush forests, sounds and rain. (Yes, I'm one of those oddballs who loves rain--especially running in it on trails.)

Hope all is faring well up there!

Well V it sounds like it's a little better than I thought. When they have controlled burns here in the Davy Crockett and Angelina National Forest we get tons of fall out like that.

Evening Reo-fam! Just passing through quick. Having to work twice as hard for half the money this year but so be it. Usually leave as the sun is coming up and get back just before dark. I miss you guys and hope everyone is doing ok. I try to catch up but seem unable to. I read enough to catch the jist of how everyone is. Huggggs and backslaps!

Well I got my Wood Burl in the mail. And yes he is gorgeous! But I have sadly found him a new home. After much consideration and reality check I have found someone to adopt him. I just think that a wood is not for me. Seems way to fragile for me. I think I found that I am a metal girl. And I did not have the heart to stick him away in hiding. So the saga goes on.........
