Maybe, just maybe I can get some cake on my birthday. At least some pie...AND KAY DON'T START!:p

If you don't have your piece of cake tomorrow, I shall scream

ETA - Enjoy your movies/Netfix, all! Thanks so much, again; no fun stories about why the last one was done in, but I'm sure hoping the new mattress does help me get a few more precious winks!

For a sweet tooth fix I throw one banana and two eggs into the blender and blend. Heat up a nonstick skillet and lightly spray with Pam. Pour batter into skillet and cook just like a pancake. Top with a little almond butter, peanut butter, fresh berries or honey. 2 servings and a bite for the poodles.

And I'm really leaving this time! Goodnight!

I had a lot of catching up to do on here!

I am sorry to hear about your daughter Kay, it must be heartbreaking for you. I hope she comes around sooner rather than later. For everyone else who shared their experiences, I think that is so brave of you; both to have shared and to have beaten it!

I had an appointment with the doctor today. I snapped some pics of my knee xray before and after the most recent surgery (the one you all went through with me ). You can kind of see why I was on pain killers, and why I was so scared I would become addicted to them. I really needed them, but tried hard not to take them much. I am happy that I was able to get away without becoming addicted, it would have been easy! The doc prescribed Tramadol today, and after all the walking around the hospital I needed to take it. I can't remember the last pain pill I needed that wasn't OTC, but sometimes I just need relief.

The first one shows what I call "the kickstand" that was bur grinded out and the next one shows after it is gone. It is on the left side, and looks like a shark's tooth. Damn docs couldn't find it even though I complained of excruciating pain for over a year. They just chalked that up to the damage done from the broken patella. I am so glad it is gone, and only have the arthritis to deal with for now. I also have some torn cartilage (I got the records from the surgery today also so they had a good look inside) and will need a knee replacement down the road, but for now 4 surgeries in 2 years is enough!

Ah, my hero:wub:! Gil's gettin' something hot n sweet TOMORROW:pervy:! Val, so glad your knee is steadily improving, and you don't have the kickstand anymore! I'm on Tramadol every single day, but I've come down on the amount lately, and it's helped clear up my head, I'll tell you that much. With your background and knowledge, I know you won't creep up on them too much.

I am actually kind of surprised they have you on that with your GI problems? The dose for me was 50 mg, but doesn't seem to help so far and I took one a while ago. I think maybe I need more. What dose works for you?

Oh, Val, I also have two herniated discs, a nasty case of FM, migraines since I was a kid, and then my I broke my foot in two places. I was on Fentanyl patches for a very long time, some morphine for a while. Lots of awful stories there. Irresponsible doctors have made it so tylenol/Motrin don't cut it; on such more powerful stuff for SO long. I feel so stupid just going with it in retrospect. I was on 400 mg of Tramadol for a long time. I've come down to 150 mg - 200 mg on most days, supplementing with 800 mg Motrin. Only 150 mg of the Tramadol today. Little by little, you know?

Oh Becky, I am so sorry. Pain is the pits, and you need not feel stupid taking what helps you. There is absolutely nothing wrong with getting the relief you need! You don't become addicted if you need the drugs to live life without pain. You become addicted when you DON'T need it and still take it. I don't think you will have that problem. Never, never feel guilty for getting the relief you need!

Look at my case, I knew I wouldn't need narcotics long term. I was really in pain, and the docs kept telling me I shouldn't need narcotics. When they finally found the bone spur everyone kind of did a double take and realized I wasn't drug seeking. They had ME thinking I was a drug addict asking for and needing narcotics, so I didn't get the relief I needed because I got the message I was drug seeking. This is a teaching hospital, and I am sure a lot of new doctors are going to learn a lot from my case.

I didn't get pain relief from the tramadol, but I sure do feel "high" and I don't think I like it at all. So forgive me if this is coming out all wrong...

Thank you SO much for that, Val. I do put a self stigma on it. I hear so many people expressing such pride for avoiding the measures I've taken for so many years. Yes, you're right about the Tramadol; for some people, the spaced out feeling is stronger that it's been for me (but I'm sure you know as much about it as I do). My mom took some after dental work, and she said it made her teeth chatter on top of the odd feeling; she won't take it. It was never like that for me, but, as I've said, I was coming from much stronger, and I believe my body has adjusted. I'm SO sorry, threadmates, if all this pain pill talk is excessive. And you should feel free to PM me about Tramadol, etc. at any time, Val.
