Another way to look at it is, put the base on your Reo and never take it off. I was just putting it through its paces, I knew it was going to happen!
How to test coil resistance then? Measure by touching probe ends to each post?

Where can I get new screws? I received 2 and in both one screw was striped. I put them in my sonic cleaner and used a different screw driver, I got them out, but I'm sure they won't last long.
Mine keep shorting out and they are not touching bottom... something else... maybe I have not observed ALL the rules.
Like wraps too close maybe... or the top cap touching something, or just defective coil making.
If I fiddle with the coil it will work for a while, then short out again. Its great when its working but I haven't figured what I'm doing wrong.
I like the idea of using some extra cotton or wick to hold more juice as it comes up from the bottom hole. How can the juice get to the wick if it's above the base?
Are you sure the oring is in place?
yup o ring is in there
this isn't new to me... i have a few rba's and once in a while get lucky
There is a gasket in the atomizer and a gasket around the negative post . If ether one is broke the atomizer will short . You can remove the center post and pull out the gasket check for any rips or cracks. I have tons of the gaskets let me no what you find . McMaster-Carr
What size are they 1/8?
Seems that the top cap sits very loose, is anyone else having this issue? In fact, it will pop off if I tip it upside down. I pinched the outer chamber a bit, which helped, but still far from perfect. I'm thinking a little plumbers tape will fix this...
