Been thinking, I may sell all of my ERA attys and replace them with the Reomizer instead...I like it that much!!!

I know, they're awesome. Still don't understand how or why, but...

Just got my first and only HH357. Was gonna use it on the VMod, but it comes out too slurpy there, so I put it on the Reo. And, believe it or not, I keep missing my reomizer. Even though the reomizer needs to be tweaked and recoiled more often, but it strangely still tastes better. Than HH357. It can't be, but it's true

And that's considering that I'm a relative noob as far as coiling them, especially compared to Hannah

I was using ONLY HH 357s when I got my first rebuildable, but no more. To me, these are better in every way. I don't mind making coils at all, and now that the "newness" of learning a new thing (making my own coils) has worn off and I can make myself leave them alone, I find that the coils last quite awhile. At first I was making and installing new coils ALL THE TIME...just because I could. When people would ask me how long a coil out of such-and-such would last, I really couldn't answer because I had only left it in a day or two before I HAD to try my hand at a new one.

I have a never-been-used 357 sitting in my basket just gathering dust....

Yeah, no more $5 (if one is so lucky to find one) to $20 (eventually throw away) prebuilt attys since RBAs. Okay, I'll admit to just purchasing 50 X $0.50 (thanks Nerak for the link) Smotech cartos (2.7 so only good with VV) to have on hand for when I don't have coils built, and a couple extra in billfold. And I will keep a supply of 1.7 Smoketech cartos for 3.7v. But no more panic about being without a few new cartos or attys for any voltage.

None of the inexpensive or expensive attys, including 357s can compare to the RBAs once one gets close to building a good coil/wick. Yeah, I still have over 50 X 2.7 ohm Joyeteck attys from a recent fabulous sale but they are loaded with primer so take a bit of attention before using. But because of being loaded with primer they should store for years. But no more mourning any blown attys after cleaning and dryburning and then POP. (I might add that I've gotten many months out of cleaned and dryburned, over and over again, attys but the last batch, bought in bulk, haven't held up to the cleaning and dry burning like the ones purchased 2010 through 2011.)

I'm building a nice collection of RBAs but just purchased an additional REOmizer after giving one away. I'm that impressed with them.

For those who don't have the larger REOs just wait a little bit and there will be more reasonably priced RBAs coming out that will fit the Mini REOs. In addition Robert is having some new Mini 2.0 milled that have catchcups larger than original to accommodate some of the current RBAs including the REOmizer.

Might I sneak in a reminder......? I saw Jack's ERA on a Mini 1.0 working and in good health. It hasn't "destructed" yet.

Yeah, I mainly bought the 357 for my vmod, since it won't easily fit an RBA. And as luck would have it, vmod doesn't work very well with it, so back to cartos on it. Luckily the VMod is just my backup now

It's also super easy to change flavors! With regular atomizers you would have to either clean them or wait for the old flavor to mix away with the new. The Reomizer if you want to change flavors you can just take it apart LEAVE the coil attached, take out the old wick and thread a brand new one! Super easy the new wick will probably need to be soaked in the juice for a minute or so but you are good to go.

And NO MORE SPITTING JUICES! That was getting a little annoying on my bridgeless Cisco atties....

So I just picked up the 10 ft. of silica wick from RTD Vapors and wow I have to say it is some real good stuff. As soon as I got it today I cut some off and threaded it through my Reomizer and it is vaping fantastic. Literally clouds of vapor and the flavor is really shining now !! I realized that it was a 3mm strand compared to the 2.5 strand I first got from Rob.... but it looks completely different. I thought for a second that it was some kind of cotton wick because the strands were more thicker and does not "split" into a bunch of microfibers (I think all silica is like this... if that makes any sense at all). It definitely doesn't seem to hold as much juice (or it burns much quicker?) but I kind of like that because when I get a more muted flavor I know that I have to re-squonk and wet the wicks again.

Anyone else get these wicks from RTD and what were your experiences with them?

I first tried cotton and that didn't taste good although it's great in my Penelope. Then I tried silica but as usual it muted the flavor, then I tried bamboo with a very sloppy coil which I didn't think would even work but wow...the flavor and vapor are back. Now I'm happy.

I've noticed cotton takes a bit to 'break in'. After about 20 pulls juice starts to taste normal.

Also, cannot wait until the reomizer compatible mini 2.0's are released.

I started with a small coil...wrapped around a hat pin. Great vapor, but was drying the wick out too fast. Made coils just a little bigger, around a toothpick. Holds more wick and isn't drying out as fast.
Knocking my socks smooth off.

I tried the middle ground. Della. Wrapping coils around DID's allen wrench. If I use cotton wick, it doesn't dry out even if I chain vape, and produces plenty of vapor.

I've settled on round toothpick and boiled cotton twine for now but will certainly try bamboo and hemp. My juice gunks up most attys really fast. I'm getting less than a day with cotton before I have to pull wick out and put in new. The coil is somewhat fragile after using and I've broken some pulling gunked wick out. New method is to char wick by dry burning, pull out a bit and then push rest out with toothpick. Then dryburn to degunk coil and carefully pull new wick through. Getting ready to insert 4th wick through same coil so crossing fingers it won't break. 30 kanthal.

That's a good idea Alice, burning the gunk before pulling the wick out. I've been delicately trying to get the burnt cotton/bamboo out but like you said it sticks to the coils and messes them up. I don't now why I didn't think about that soon.

It should take fewer wraps to get low ohms and be big enough to really pack in the cotton or whatever without the wire being too tight on the material. Hopefully the wicks will last longer.

Sounds good Terry. I need to do some coils during fb game. Will try the double. Hope enough room in ERA but if not have REOmizer that has more space inside.

Here is a comment about the oval coil:

"Just my 2 cents...the BJ oval coil is all I use now on my ERA's & A7's. I run 6-8 wraps of 28...in my albeit totally unscientific tests they seem to produce more vape (flavour is about the same) but the oval coil makes rewicking on these devices is a piece of cake"

Yeah, I experimented today too. Bigger coils, oval coils, two toothpicks, a nail, a drill bit, Rob's way, and then went back to the toothpick.

Think I ruined a REOmizer. I made three different coils and never could get it to meter at all. I noticed the negative post turned as I tightened it's screw

Today must have been experimenting day! I tried many of the things you tried, Jen...but I did accomplish a sweet coil with a round toothpick and then slipped the folded over cotton thread in through the coil, then attached it to the posts. I like being able to take out the thread and dry burning the coil , then putting fresh thread back in the coil ..it's a perfect situation for a lazy broad

BTY: I finally realized why all the ones I was making tasted either like medicine or worse....I've been on heavy meds, including nasty medicinal tongue lozenges that I have to put under my tongue and let melt...no wonder the vape was tasting bad!

( besides the fact that I was either flooding the rebuildables or letting them get too dry!)

I believe I'm getting the hang of it now.
