They are called Plunger Doors. They always looked "Olde Tyme" to me, so I tried to collect them.

I had to let my Woodville go. My hands are messed up & I kept dropping it in my lap when I shifted it to squonk. The side fire was perfect, better for me than the top fire on my Grand. But I'm not afraid of dropping the Grand. I think a plunger door would have fixed my problem.
I feel your pain kenna, i had to let my woodvilles go, too, but I was always dropping them on the floor/ground....plus over squonking and getting the precious wood wet with juice!
My woodvil's 510 is loose. Do I recall correctly people have fixed that themselves with superglue?

Jup that's what we were tellin ya bout before, but seeing a pic makes it much easier to understand. It does kinda close up your vent hole should a batt ever vent, but I know how careful you are, so that's not likely to ever happen.
