@misswish2,

Hi there!
12rrTLA.gif

Nice to meet you too Misswish2 :D So what did you use before you became a squonkalicious Reonette? :D

The usual for a tootle puffer. MVP's, istick's, VV2's. Still do, but the Reo's are #1!

@Debadoo, how often do you have to change coils?
I've done 3 months several times. I often change just because I'm worried the coils going to break. I use bamboo wick and change every week or two. Once you get the hang of it rbas are way less fiddling than throwaways.

Hi PoppaD! :)

So far I've learned that there are two types of RBAs
One type has replaceable coils and the other has rebuiidable coils where you have to deal with wicks and burning and threading wires - Seems like you have the real rebuildable type --

& today I read a tutorial on sub ohm vaping, which is what all this wiring is about and it seems a bit risky for my taste.

BIG THANKS to all for sharing your experience and expertise. I am going to continue reading all the info I can so that I am comfortable with any decision I may make in the RBA/RTA area.

That's all I got -- Goodnight friends.

Nowadays its coil this cotton or khantal or stainless steel or titanium wires, sub-ohm that, temperature controls and what WATT!, and rebuildable atomizers that look like NASA space projects! I absolutely refused to get on the whole COIL fidgeting craze a couple of years ago! If I have to fidget with overly complicated atomizers, I'm out!

This reminds me of a skit I heard on Last Comic Standing, where the comedian suggests that self checkout lines are devious because in a sneaky way the supermarket get you to work for them, all you need is the apron! That's how I feel about the whole new breed of atomizers with all those coils!

I didn't think I would ever build my own coils either.

First, I bought and stashed a few RBAs, just in case of vapocalypse. Still never intending to build on them unless the end of the world.

But, I didn't wait until the end of the world. In the meantime, I got more and more frustrated with the lack of quality and reliability of pre-made atties and cartos. I finally decided to take matters into my own hands.

Tanks, just like clearo tanks, can be fiddly. But, simple drippers are very easy and uncomplicated. It just takes wire, cotton balls, tiny screwdrivers, good lighting, and my glasses.

I'm not working for the store. I'm taking them out of the picture completely. They go broke while I become independent and free.

Jup! sometimes I have an issue, but I've said since I got the Reo that it is overall the simplest thing I've used. Tanks gave me a lot more issues. And most of my issues come from trying to do dual coils without being able to see the wire very well. I've tried magnifiers that fit over my glasses, they don't do well. And I haven't found readers yet that will let me see better than my glasses without my glasses.

lol forget sub ohm for now. Seriously if you are a mtl vaper, you can't go wrong with a Rm2 and I think you'd love it. Remind me after the 25th and I'll check and see if I still have one. tomorrow I'm flying to Florida for 12 days, so that's why after the 25th. Seriously, if you can thread a needle and turn a knob, you can build coils, attach them and wick them!

The porches are having an ECF get together there! I'm so excited to meet dear friends that I've talked with for 4 years on here!! @jifjifjif how far are you or any other Floridians from Bradenton????

Jup!!! the independence is something I love!! 2.75 for 100 feet of Kanthal 12.00 for a box of organic cotton that will probably last longer than I will.

Hiya All

@DancingHeretik, Hi there! I really enjoyed your remark about the vape apocalypse! I've had the opposite experience with atties and cartos. Although I admit that at first finding a great atty was hit & miss for me, until the HH357 and I then I thought I was all set... Until some REO friends (((sashie, pietro))) turned me on to using cartos on my REOs and next thing you know the atties (and the extras I bought in case of the vape apocalypse) started collecting dust heeeheeee!

Congrats to you for your successful plunge into RBA use.

Sounds easy enough but it still sounds fidgety to me - I understand that it might be worth it tho ;)

@Debadoo, dual coil cartos! - oh brother, I remember those - I tried it and thought it was a waste. What is a "mtl vaper" ? You would share a Rm2 with me?! OMG, you are toooooo good to me! I'll remind ya for sure! :D Might be exactly what I need to dip my toe into these waters :)

@Danrogers, thanks for the suggestion. Taking note

not dual coil cartos, just putting two coils in my RDA. I typically use a derringer on my Reo. That's my favorite. Second fav is the nuppin. MTL vaper is mouth to lung rather than drawing the vaper straight into your lungs...... DTL direct to lung or folks say they do lung hits. Jup, if that would get you to try building I sure would. I was gonna sell it, but would rather see someone have something that they will be able to sustain indefinitely rather than havin to buy cartos if the gov't comes down on us heavy with outlawing or taxing vape stuff so high it's ridiculous. If you can build your own coils, and make your own juice, you'll be self sufficient. Not trying to push you into it if you really don't wanna.... but don't want to see you stuck out if the hammer comes down. So, jup, if you don't already DIY is next and I do it stupid simple with some bottles, and 3 pieces of equipment. Doing it with a scale I think would be even easier but I don't have a scale yet.
