i only run coils at about 0.3Ω, on anything. But on Reos the firing pins need to be kept clean else that arcing will lead to pitting of your batteries and damage to your firing pin and so on.

The gold firing pins benefit from an alcohol clean (don't we all?) and an application of your favourite ointment: Deoxit, Noalox, No-Oxid, etc etc.

My preference is for No-Oxid - because it's like earwax in a tube, ecologically friendly and sticks to that firing pin like Grandma at a Xmas conga. That's what i use on all my mech mods. Pick one you like - De oxit is like a very thin oil and i don't think it lasts.

Noalox IS granny at a Xmas conga - grey and messy but YMMV as they say.

Which one is better? How hard are they to clean off? How often do I need to clean off & replace?
I can't believe my mind has ejected everything I had learned when I got my Woodville!

Oh! Do I need noalox for a Grand?
You don't need it, but it's an easy way to reduce resistance where it's not wanted. Like Supertrunker said, "The gold firing pins benefit from an alcohol clean (don't we all?) and an application of your favourite ointment: Deoxit, Noalox, No-Oxid, etc etc." Just apply the tiniest dab to the end of the firing pin where it touches the battery.

deoxit gold will be super easy to clean off, and that's all you'll need with vaping 1.5 to 1.8 ohms. Super easy to apply also. Really you'll only need to clean maybe once a month at those ohms. then put a drop of the deoxit on your finger, mash the fire button down and put a dab on the + contact, a dab on the spring, and a dab on both ends of the battery. ST has to use better stuff cuz he vapes super low ohms.

With the SS I'm at 1.1 now. There abouts.

I'm sure the deoxit will be fine. You're still above an ohm. I was doing duals at 1.2, 1.3 and honestly hardly ever cleaned it, and only had arcing a couple of times. Most of the time I'd just forget. When I'd remember, I'd give it a good bath and apply some deoxit. Didn't have any pitting on my batts at all.

Now that I'm at .5 ohms, I've had some arcing and some minor pitting, so I've really got to stay on top of it more.

I use nooxid. What do you use to get it on the firing pin of the woodvils? I use a q-tip on my CCs, but can't fit that between the firing pin of the woody and a cloth doesn't seem to be getting it on there well.

I'm just nervous about hurting the firing pin...I find these mods harder to work on, take apart and thoroughly clean etc than some others, but my plan right now is to only keep 1 CC and grab a P67 so I want to be sure I'm not damaging them. I also don't wanna vape higher than .3 :D

I use the method Rob shows in his P67 video on the website. Get some cloth adhesive bandage tape. Fold it in half, sticky side to sticky side. Put some alcohol on it. Slide it in between the firing pin and the strike plate. Press the button, to put pressure on the tape. Pull the tape out. Repeat a couple times. Of course, be sure to remove the battery first. Lastly, dab some Deoxit in there. I use the Deoxit in the bottle with the little brush.

Ill check out the vid and look into the tape. I dont use deoxit though. Nooxid is much better in my experience but doesnt have the convenience of the little brush. Thanks man :)

I'm not familiar with Nooxid. But I'm anti Noalox. It's way to messy. Plus, the button throw on the P67 is very short. Shorter than the Woodvil even I don't want anything that's 'goopy' in there which could cause the contacts to stick or misfire.

Noalox is putrid plankton. Nooxid however is just simply life changing.

Put it this way...i cleaned my CC contacts every few days with deoxit. About once a month with nooxid.

Regardless of nooxid, deoxit etc...so long as one cleans and maintains the contacts, is there any reason to think a firing pin would not last for years of heavy use around .3?

That's the one thing I want to be sure of I guess - with the CCs I can't see any reason a firing pin would ever, ever break or need replacing. They're beastial and can be polished completely to new specs within seconds. The gold plating and small pin of the reo make that more challenging, so I'm interested in the feedback on the longevity of them.

As mentioned previously, if the contacts are maintained properly there should be no problem with them lasting. They do take a little more attention to detail when cleaning, compared to the contacts in the Grands, but once you get a routine down it will be just as easy to maintain as your CC...

Alright - great. Good idea with the toothpick too.

I watched Rob's P67 video and it's a lot easier to change contacts etc than I thought. Cool!
Rob told me P67s will be available on Friday. I'm gonna snatch up a Hammertone, if I can :thumb:

I don't think you'll be disappointed. I have 2 of them. I think I like them even better than my Woodvils. They feel great in hand.
