Thanks to everyone for the words of encouragement. That's what friendship is all about. My kids' mom and I have been divorced for many years. We don't talk a lot, but we get along amicably. I know she is having a rough time too. My daughter has been taking her brother's passing especially hard. She's five years older, but they were very close. I've spent the past year trying my best to be supportive and strong for her, and to be there whenever she called and needed to talk. She has a great support system, a wonderful husband, and a beautiful baby daughter. But through it all, I've pushed my own grieving into the background somewhat; and I guess this first Holiday season has finally hit me. We have had Mrs Rule's grandson living with us, who is 'special needs (diagnosed ADHD and Asbergers), and we are doing our best to provide a nice Christmas for him.

Holidays are indeed tough for those who have lost loved ones. This will be my 4th Christmas without my mother. Enough time has passed that the typical day doesn't give me any grief per se, but Holidays, the thought lingers. Blessings to all who have lost loved ones, especially during the Holiday season.

I myself don't celebrate any Holidays, it's just not important to me on the personal level. I celebrate every day as a gift, and treat Holidays no differently, except for family's sake but they are all far far away. I also work every Holiday, since I'm an innkeeper, so I do enjoy trying to facilitate a special season for those in camp. Our camp is decorated insanely beautifully, and I am a sucker for the decorations and lights this time of year :D

The one year anniversary of my Mothers death is soon coming up. I still miss her.

You know...my Mom passed when I was 13, leaving seven kids and a husband...to this day i grieve her loss when i think of her. It's part of living and inevitable ,the pain of losing a loved one.But the good memories help a lot.

Losing a parent is hard at any age. My dad died when I was 12, so my memory of the man himself is a little blurry. But I rember the feeling of loss to this day, even though I was just a kid at the time.
I lost my mom 21 years ago. She lived to the ripe old age of 92. I still think about her often. But it does get easier.

How bout a pic of your camp all lit up. I'll bet it looks nice with snow and all. :)

This whole chicken thing is a riot at my workplace...I've posted pictures of chickens everywhere, it all started as one of those off-the-wall jokes made between a couple of people that just exploded, and now I just cannot let it go [emoji38]
My sister raised chickens for several years. They are hilarious!
